The most depressingly humorous irony is how this reminds me of the first time I ever used dial-up “internet”, the old BBB of the 70’s.
In 1979, on an Apple IIe, where the first digitized image I ever viewed when my father and I logged in was….
a Penthouse centerfold, in blocked out pixels of black and white…like a Minecraft version, in relating for today.
The scan was so distortedly blocky you actually had to sit up and lean back from the 13″ CRT screen to visually verify you were looking at a picture of a naked woman from a centerfold, since up close it just a jumble of black and white clumps of digital screen clutter…90% of the rest of the images in the files we saw on the BBB were similar pictures.
And I knew then, what the internet’s primary purpose would be for most of the people using it…..
Thanks for not showing any modern versions. I can only imagine…

Remember those catalogs well. When the smaller ones would come in the mail from Penny’s, etc. I would always take them and hide them away.
