In a subsequent interview, Binney explains how America’s self-image as being the world’s “good guy” led to our government viewing its own citizens as potential enemies to be surveilled. Criticism of the government lands you on a political dissenter list, not a good list to face these days.
“[This idea America has about itself] comes from cowboy movies,” says Binney. “We were the guys that wore the white hats. We’re always right, and everybody else is wrong, and we’re doing right and they’re doing wrong.”

I’ve been to Arkansas … the eastern part of the state where Nucor Steel is located. I thought it was butt-fucken ugly and depressing. Worse than NJ in many aspects. No way in hell would I want to live in THAT state, ever, I thought to myself.
But, about 3 months ago I read an article “10 cheapest states to retire”. I believe Mississippi was #1, and Arkansas was #2. Hmmmm. So, I searched on “Is Arkansas pretty”. A whole bunch of articles popped up, and almost all of them focused on NW Arkansas. And, yeah, the place is friggin gorgeous!
So, I mentioned my new findings to Ms. Freud’s daughter. And she said … not kidding … that she and her husband were just in NW Arkansas the previous week, scouting it out, and decided that’s where they will retire in a few years! Really, she just went on and on how nice it was, how cheap it was, and how friendly the people were.
So, yeah, I’m gonna try to become a hillbilly also.
Prices there are climbing and most of the liberals of the state live around Fayetteville.

I just moved to Virginia and have to register my truck. I am considering getting a ‘don’t tread on me plate’, and asked my wife what she thought. Good idea or lay low? She thought a bit, looked at me and said, well, you just turned 60, might as well go down swinging! (I do have life insurance for her!) Don’t tread on me plate it is, for a start.
