“This Is For You, Dad”: Redditor Shares Heartbreaking Reason For Destroying Short-Sellers In WSB Raids

Via ZeroHedge

As a new class of activist investors harness the power of crowdsourcing to crush short-sellers betting on the demise of ailing companies, a David vs. Goliath narrative quickly emerged (now with sympathetic billionaires joining the cause).

As these retail investors band together over Reddit’s ‘Wall Street Bets’ forum and other platforms to crush hedge funds by triggering short-squeezes – some turning meager savings accounts into six-figure positions – several have shared very personal stories of just why they’re doing this.

One such user, a Redditor who goes by the name Space-Peanut, has a very personal reason for tossing their match onto the pyre.

Read below (emphasis ours):

This is for you, Dad.

I remember when the housing collapse sent a torpedo through my family. My father’s concrete company collapsed almost overnight. My father lost his home. My uncle lost his home. I remember my brother helping my father count pocket change on our kitchen table. That was all the money he had left in the world. While this was happening in my home, I saw hedge funders literally drinking champagne as they looked down on the Occupy Wall Street protestors. I will never forget that.

My Father never recovered from that blow. He fell deeper and deeper into alcoholism and exists now as a shell of his former self, waiting for death.

This is all the money I have and I’d rather lose it all than give them what they need to destroy me. Taking money from me won’t hurt me, because i don’t value it at all. I’ll burn it all down just to spite them.

This is for you, Dad.

The more the banksters and hedge-funders make as people get desperate, the more the people are going to start tearing it down.

Occupy Wall Street redux could be quite entertaining this spring/summer.

Nothing refreshes like a mostly peaceful tour of the sights in The Hamptons and on The Cape.

There are moves by those in WSB and people watching events to Re-Occupy Wall Street this Sunday.

Could this really be it? REALLY? THE awakening (non-Qanon)? The point where the threshold of realization that, the whole system the elites run is complete bullshit and rigged against you no matter your political persuasion, is crossed. Not by us few, but the general consensus, in the minds of the normies!
This is so robust that everyone who comes out against the Redditors is instantly exposed as the traitors they are against the common man in people’s minds. It is also exposing more rottenness and corruption as we go along.

– Apparently Robinhood was selling trading data of the plebs to the Hedge funds
– Trading services blocking GME stock from being bought
– Facebook shuts down their thread
o Falsely claims racism as the cause (likely somebody in a comments section – ridiculous)
– Reddit page was shut down
o Falsely claims racism as the cause (likely somebody in a comments section – ridiculous)
– Nasdaq CEO dancing around the idea of shutting it down
– Suddenly regulation may be needed – they say
– Media going apeshit about how ‘dangerous’ it is
– Poor billionaire-me from the hedge fund managers as they scoff at the plebs any other day
– AOC/Ted Cruise/Don Jr agreeing with each other
– Cats and Dogs sleeping together!!
So not only do we have the system in full damage control cause they were found wanting from an organic movement of the plebs, but we now also have it using the tactics we’ve seen the last 4 years of just wantonly slapping the scarlet letter R (racist) on everything – which also illuminates that ridiculous scheme and WHO uses it. It also is also illuminating how big tech is connected to the monster as well.

A summary box is being clearly drawn around the entire rotten construct. Every defensive move they make just shows their hand and their operational connectedness. They look like the adolescent who gets busted stealing from the grocery store and lashing out in desperate indefensible anger against the ones who caught him. Sorry bud, you were the one who stole shit!

Any action they do now looks like big bad corporate and government people crushing the everyday little guy, and that shit is never popular. Everyone who tries to defend the system is seen as defending big guys walking all over the little guys. Even if they shut it all down, it just exposes the system even more, and further drives the point in the general perception that, YEA, the system really is corrupt and rigged against you.

I think this line in the linked article sums it up perfectly

https://thefederalist.com/2021/01/29/the-gamestop-saga-isnt-about-finance-its-part-of-the-ongoing-war-between-elites-and-populists/

“Which is why this isn’t going to stop with GameStop. It’s going to replicate itself within and toward every major institution of American, and global, life from here on out, whether it manifests in protests or riots or crazy elections or entire nation-states removing themselves from global super-governments.
Once the animals figure out that the pigs in charge don’t really think all animals are equal, because some animals are so obviously more equal than others, they tend to get restless.”

Dare I say, checkmate?!?

Well, in any case, I don’t want to get a raging hardon going only to be disappointed later. I should just go back to moping about how bad things are, but somehow this one’s got me riveted. Feels like when tide of the war changes in your favor.

Well, I can hope anyway! The key is enough people have to wake up and accept that this reality IS reality. When that is achieved the battle isn’t so difficult because the oppressors are shunned by virtually all and no longer believed or obeyed.

Isn’t there a bigger underlying issue at work?

To me this whole saga shows that [fiat] money is becoming worthless –
so much of it is sloshing around that not just the big players can, for example, suppress the [paper] gold price or lift TSLA to the moon (the Fed’s got their back!),
but now even the [aggregated] small players can do similar.

Money buys power and influence. Sooner later a few million people with a couple thousand in hand adds up to “real money”. Throw in a few Whales like Elon Musk making ripples on social media and you’ve got a Reddit wave.

The tsunami, when it comes, will be epic. Whatever replaces the dollar is fast approaching.

After watching the The Big Short play out the 2008 financial crisis, I’m fine with millennials adopting a ‘lets burn it all down’ attitude now.

After too big to fail banks got bailed out while main street, small business and homeowners got screwed and stuck with the bill, it would be nice to watch some hedge funders have to go get jobs in the service industry, learn to code, or go make solar panels.

Not in total disagreement, but watch the movie again. Many of these “homeowners” like the stripper in the movie with 5 houses got exactly what they deserved. They lied on mortgage applications, lied about their income and bought houses they knew they couldn’t afford.

I will be there to rebuild, God willing.

Somebody needs to sit this guy down and explain the reason for the housing collapse was the COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT ACT Hatched, hawked and signed by Jimmy Carter in the late ’70’s. The ignorance in this country is pervasive and this is a glaring example. Again, the housing collapse was caused by the COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT ACT and the banks and mortgage industry turned it into a crap shoot using collateral debt obligations – when they finally stopped receiving mortgage payments it blew up. Only /facts count and most in this stewpidt country are clueless over this latest menstrual cycle too. There will be more on the way to a reckoning which we are now approaching with increasing velocity led by Joe Xi and Cummuluh Hungawa et al … and the Trojan Horse they entered with past the most ignorant electorate, often willfully so, in American history…The Butcher’s Bill is coming due.
