Well done Stucky – a brilliant set of useful information which I always enjoy. Wish I’d seen this when I moved to the UK in 2000, LOL. Fresh off the boat to Manchester proper from Pennsy. Sat on a the bus home to my flat and understood every single word used by others on it, but how these well understood words in Pennsy were strung together was as if a completely foreign language. It was a steep learning curve, but I survived and thrived.

You cant have the yin without the yang.

Its either robots or free will.

Free will implies choice.

God gave us a choice of good or evil.

He must like it that way. Else He would have done something
you or I would do. But its all His so He gets to use His freewill
and choose. And btw, He aint worried one bit what you or I think of it.

He created us for His pleasure it says somewhere in the bible.
IF we were created to love him and be pleasing to Him then it would not be genuine.
Love for God (or anyone)has to come about from a free choice, otherwise it’s without value.
Thus I think actually He may not be “worried” about we think of it, but he does care what we think – and especially do- about it all.

Sorry it leans the wrong way for you. Funny, but that video series treats your need to believe with complete respect and insight. I think the analysis is a fantastic example of superlatively impeccable human reason. It only ‘deepened’ my conviction, so yes, it is dangerous that way. Like some other great analyses, if only I had come across it much sooner.

The way Evid3nc3 expresses himself is amazing. His God complex model is fantastic. What you believe, Stucky, is still a mystery to me, but apparently it has to do with Preteristism. If you ever feel the terror of disbelief and you wish to face that fear to the end, because you can’t run anymore, if and when you really need to turn and face a certain ‘it’, you want to watch that video series from start to finish (1.0 to 2.6 (+ Patreon, not active it seems)). I think the odds are decent that you will be able to empathize from start to finish, but that would make it all the more effective.

Is truth what is real or is truth what makes you successful? Deep question, friend.

I hope I can steer the young men hung on their intellectual integrity like a rope to that video series “Why I am no longer…” by Evid3nc3. I think he is smarter than me. That’s how much I think of that young man (still to me). You ain’t so bad either, Stucky.

What is best in life? We can’t all be Genghis Khan, but we all live in the same reality and that comes with some inescapable biological and social restrictions.

If you want to ‘believe’, why not go to the source? Jews and Free Masons allow zealous applicants of some character to join. Maybe become an orthodox Jew in NYC. You could join the Chabad-Lubavitch sect. It they can’t make you believe, who can?

Stucky, if you’ve been on this journey of inquiry for more than five years, I agree that you are on a different path. IIRC, you have been in these parts 10 years, so that tells me that you would have gone objective reality if that were your primary driver.

If you have been questioning religion and faith by investigation for less than three years, I think you are not as far from my views as you think you are, but again you are a veteran here and apparently in life, so not likely.

I like that you do not try to force fit me into a fetish generic mold for all men for all seasons like the robotic bible thumpers here. That tells me you are rational, which is not too far from the scientific method (which is an artifact of philosophy).

But you also seem to have an emotional driver. If you have two primary drivers that diverge, that will hurt. I’m being very introspective here. Can you serve two masters? If you can’t label what you believe, perhaps you don’t know what you believe. There must be a primary foundation to any belief system, right? And that is the basis for a good name.

The ability to perfect one’s beliefs (and so self-identity) is a mental faculty few have, even here. Apparently, “I think; therefore, I’m alone.” The lack of convergence based on intelligence and the abundance of convergence based on stupidity is shocking, is it not? Shalom, Good Rabbi. The Force will be with you, always.

Preterism or Covenant eschatology is the belief that Christ did exactly what He said He would do when He said He would do it.

To make up a story like all other eschatologies is to drastically change the meaning of words, language, metaphors, as used in the first century by the sacred writers.

What everyone struggles with is the nature of Christs parousia.

Preconceived notions that are incorrect throw one off course when it comes
to understanding the redemption history.

Modern christians and others are adamant that Christ must return physically and visually. This is not true.

Christ stated that He would come in judgement as His Father had done in the old testament. He always sovereignly used other people and nations to exact his vengenance. Thats what Christ did in ad70 by causing the roman army under Titus to destroy old covenant Jerusalem.

That is what the history is about. There is nothing in scripture about any person or events after ad70. They lived the story not us. We reap the benefits.

We live in the New Covenant, which is nothing like the old covenant made with the hebrews by God at Sinai. Thank God for that, cause like them we couldnt keep that covenant either.

Studying Sacred Texts
At age 17, while beginning to serve as director of observations for Vancouver’s Royal Astronomical Society, I also began a very private study of the world’s sacred texts, testing them for accuracy.

My non-religious upbringing freed me from emotional attachment to any particular book or set of beliefs. So I started with the books revered by my neighbors, Eastern religious texts, and worked my way westward.

Perhaps you’d find more advantage in seeking those reasons within the material realm? Meaning, rather than focusing on philosophical gymnastics, why not try on the shoes that say, “I no longer care about an ‘”objective “truth”‘ re: creator, I’ve decided that to perpetuate this meme, regardless of veracity, is materially advantageous to both myself and others.”

I know this is old hash and will not accomplish much, but here goes anyway.

Yup, I too was convinced by this “logic” for about 2 weeks. It started with Penn and Teller’s Bullshit episode about the Bible. From there I listened to a lot of Hitchens, and Dawkins and Lawrence Krauss. I found all of them to be smug and arrogant, but ultimately correct.

After about 2 weeks, some strange version of what I’d guess you’d call spirituality grew back and some months after that, it hit me all at once. There is a logical slight of hand done here and once you see it, it is impossible to un-see.

It involves the conflation of three terms (faith, religion and God) that have massively different domain boundaries. The Personal (Faith), The Human/Sociological/Historical/Anthropological (Religion) and the Cosmological (God).

So, this video does not express one single idea about the concept of God. It is entirely about the history of Religion and the history of how Human Beings, Societies and Cultures have expressed their notions of God. Of course, when viewed through this framework the expression of the idea of God evolves, just like literally everything else does.

And speaking of Evolution…it is a Theory–and I use Theory correctly, as in as solid of ground as there is in genuine science–that explains life on this planet for the last 1.2 billion years or so excellently. That does make it logical bedrock, though many of its pundits (as well as its naysayers) believe that to be the case. Evolution itself rests on a structure about which we have little to know idea and if we did, we would still have no idea if we were near cosmological bedrock or not.

Here’s another point on Evolution (and Bret Weinstein took Dawkins to task on this point) things that last pay the price of their existence. Religion is a Human Universal. This means that there is no known society anywhere in history that has not had some form of religion. QED… religion is paying the costs of its existence all the time and it endures.

Yet another point involving Evolution: evolution, as it is understood, has one biologicals function…to get an genetic material into the future. To serve this Nature does all kinds of abhorrent (from our perspective) things. Rape is a perfectly natural tool, so is war and even genocide. One could also say that Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Wrath, Pride, envy and sloth are EXACTLY the tools that Nature uses to get the genes of virtually all animal species into the future. However, these are directly counter to the development of Civilization. And does Science or Intellect provide a brake on these perfectly natural systems? No, only religion does that. So, yes, the kid in the video is correct about the history of “God” (as he misuses the term according to logical framework I have established), but what he is really discussing the remarkable evolution of the Religious (Human) concept of God (Cosmological, Unknown) from a violent and warlike deity, to a compassionate, merciful and sacrificing “God.” THIS is the most foundational level of Western Civilization. Not intellect and NOT science.

I am a fan of CS Lewis, but he was foolish in his quote that “Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important.” Christianity cannot be entirely TRUE from a cosmological standpoint. I do not believe it is entirely FALSE, either. But no matter the degree of its falseness, it is of UTMOST, FOUNDATIONAL importance.

As far as Faith goes, this is what allows people to play above their petty, violent, desirous natures. It is possible to forgive even the most egregious wrongs with some Faith. Why is this a good thing? Well, for one its stops the inevitable destructive downward spiral of revenge. It also unburdens the wronged individual. In this way, it is divine. Faith allows a person to act honorable even if we assume everyone else is a lying, backstabbing thief …because its about a greater reward later. Sacrificing the now for the later. Another cornerstone of Civilization.

Faith just works, dammit. I wish I had more of it and I think so do all the atheists out there. They react to an imagined or even a real betrayal from religion and then claim the logical high-ground in their emotional stance without ever having gotten through all the logic. Many, I believe, deeply resent people of faith (I have and do) because they can play a higher game above all the petty and miserable sufferings of this life.

Now, once again, I have said nothing about the Cosmological–God–layer yet. Because I have no fucking clue and neither does anyone else. There is room for every thought everyone had EVER had along these lines to be wrong, and wildly wrong at that.

What I will say is that I believe the idea that we live an pure cause/effect deterministic universe where there was an explosion of 10^200 tiny billiard balls 14 billion years ago and we’re living during the break before they all settle is as much nonsense as saying that an anthropomorphized being snapped it all into existence 6000 years ago.

So what does that leave? A literal infinity of possibilities. Unknowable and unanswerable

All there is to do–at this level of thought–is to stare in stupid wonder at the unimaginable complexity and beauty of it all.

Disclaimer: most of this is my personal speculation.

Everything is separated, light from darkness, good from evil, water from earth; etc. Because God has created good, there is also the capacity for evil which is the absence of good rather than a defined creation. The absence of good is evil, likewise the absence of light is darkness, the absence of dirt in the ground is a hole but none of these things can be defined without that which what created and is good. There is no particle or wave that is darkness, a hole can’t be separated from the material it is in.

It’s purely my own speculation but I think God wanted us to become what I would describe as more complete spiritual beings, having not just known about but experienced both good and evil. God will not compromise his holiness which is his utmost supreme quality.

God created Lucifer as a perfect being, like everyone else, and part of perfection is free will. It was and had to be Lucifer’s own choice to reject what is good; rather than God intentionally creating an entity to cause imperfection. An all powerful God that knows all things created and not-created will have known the created being’s choices before he was ever made without having chosen them for it. Likewise God knew us before we ever existed.

I could go on and on but the point is that God must protect his quality of holiness which is part of why events went they way they did.

On a similar note, I wish scripture contained more answers than it does but it’s not for me to decide. There is little saying that the Bible is “Basic instructions before leaving earth”. Heaven, Hell, and Earth are all created spaces and I sometimes wonder what exists outside of created spaces.

On a similar note, what was it like when God had self-realization. I speculate that all things created and not-created, existing and not existing, where here and not here in a state we limited creatures have ability to comprehend, but it is rational to expect one of those things is an all powerful, all knowing, all present God, that brought order and separations to all things made and unmade. I suppose you could think of evil as something that is not-made but rather defined by the absence of something that is made.

Before creation, there was no causality and literally no natural law to say something can’t come from nothing.

I’ll cut it short but I could babble on and on with people about such topics.

Interesting graphic regarding the problem of evil and an all-good, all-knowing, all-powerful God. The weak spot in the graphic is “Could God create a universe with free-will and no evil” and concludes that if he cannot, then he is not all powerful. But could it be that having free-will without the ability to do evil is like asking if God can create a rock too large for him to pick up. I think it is a logical fallacy dressed up as an argument.

“For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope [expectation] that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. Stuckster, where do you find this stuff?….. and DO NOT say the internet! Anyway on types of tired # 10 should be hungover. I think most TBPers have experienced that but maybe I am stereotyping. I would love to know how much property costs in the 6% population of China but I guess the government owns it all. My parents had a sweet 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass! I drove the crap out of it but it would not spin the tires it was a POS, and no brake torqueing does not count. My car was a 72 Mustang Mach 1 351 Cleveland, got it in 78, which would put the rear end side ways being single track and all….good times! Stucky keep up the good work. You have always contributed a lot to this site and I for one appreciate it!

I like the ammo in the first pic(the tupperware gun/not as much though have a few).

I personally like the IMI hollow point, good round with out the fancy cap names and cost.

Threat level 3A will stop this,you have a vest(with level 4 rifle plates……..,right?).

Head shots ect. do away with the aforementioned vests value, keep practicing!

I suppose bullets could have hit 3 A vest, will still leave a mark/bruised/broken ribs perhaps ect.,still, beats having bullet open in torso!

No, cows do not live 20 years. If you get 15, you’ve won the odds.

I’ve been involved with raising cattle since I was 6, I’m 63. We have the oldest cow we have ever had at age 17. Her name is Daisy. She has no teeth left, her hooves curl upward making it hard to walk. She is 3 years older than the last record holder. The average age is about 11 years. That’s the average of having raised over 10,000 cows over 55 years.

Chickens last 5, tops.

Some of these ‘guides’ are pure fantasy.

Agreed. And while you can slaughter a cow at 18 months, that has more to do with feed costs and portion control at the restaurant level than it does with maturity. We raise them on 100% grass slaughter them at 4 years. Huge difference.

And the only kind of chicken that can be harvested at 6 weeks is a Cornish X and with their genetics they couldn’t live past six months, never mind 6 years.

Lots of BS in that chart.

Stucky, I viewed the checkerboard illusion making a slit between my fingers to block out most of the graphic except squares a and b. They’re the same shade. Side note – I’m red-green colorblind and the rotating snakes and the other “moving image “ illusion don’t seem to affect me.

Checkerboard:
is there a difference between color and shade?

Why NOT? Because we should never let people who hate our country have any say in our culture whatsoever. Ever. Why are we letting these parasites create another holiday out of thin air? It’ll be forgotten quicker than Kwanzaa. I can tell you what’s coming in Corporate America. You may not see it yet, but I do. They are starting to realize that diversity has no value, and what they really need is some younger people that are literate and capable. It’s already started. If you’ve got good kids, the world needs them and the search is just getting started. Don’t let them sell them selves short. Expect to see a lot of woke CEOs cut loose. They are divorced from reality. But on the next level down, they know.

Some amazingly retarded stuff mixed with possibly useful information…e.g…Why would the Source create a Universe without “evil” (which is undefined)? No challenge there!

Francis Marion
Francis Marion
June 20, 2021 10:19 am

Can’t explain evil, huh?

Evil is a product of man’s free will. God gave man free will because without it he wouldn’t be able to love Him freely. If love for God was programmed that would mean it was coerced which would mean it wasn’t really love and since God wants us to love Him (truly and of our own free will) then the flip side is that we can not only choose not to love Him but to do evil as well.

IE: you cannot have love with without evil because you cannot wipe out evil with destroying free will which would destroy love.

Now there’s your paradox.

There is Tension built into Creation and it must be resolved.

“For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope [expectation] 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now.”

June 21, 2021 4:46 am

Your flow chart about evil is incorrect: First, everything is created from energy, which can neither be created nor destroyed – it is eternal. This is the first law of energy. This also entirely explains God’s existence: He is pure energy; hence, He has always existed. Second, He gave free will to all creatures. Therefore, it is a choice to follow and obey or to rebel and turn away. Lucifer chose the latter, and he will be confined to hell with all those who made that same choice. It’s all right there in the Bible. Why confined and not destroyed? See the first point. Finally, God’s ways are not our ways. What you and I think should or should not happen doesn’t matter. God is the Creator, and His desires are all that matter. If this seems “unfair” to you, try drawing a picture of something. Anything. When you’ve finished, what will you do with it? You made it, so it’s YOUR choice whether to hang it on the wall or crumple it up and throw it away. It’s the same for God. He made everything, so it’s HIS choice what to do with it.
