It’s the opposite. My first State of Florida ( Dept of Labor) job was calculating the Mod rates for Unemployment Insurance. A White guy there trained us all but he was then hired by an insurance company. I was the only one with an actual Math degree (FSU) and the only one not with a degree from FAMU (a Black college). My boss was a Black woman who called me in three different times to say so and so Black co-worker complained that I offended her. I would say: “What did I do?” and she would make some vague comment. I said if you can’t tell me some definite thing I said or did, then it is you who is harassing me. That stopped that crap. I was the only person who could compute the difficult Mods (ordinary Mods took a few minutes, difficult Mods might take all day); but we were paid a bonus by the total Mods done per month and my bonus was always the lowest because my in-basket always had the difficult Mods. When a business would call wanting their Mod done ASAP, the call was always handed to me. I complained to the boss but to no avail. I complained to the Chief that I was being shit on and passed over for promotion twice when I was the most qualified. She said I was their token White and will never get promoted. Late one afternoon I stayed until everyone left and then marked every form in my in-basket on the back and then I left. In the morning, I checked each form and there were several unmarked difficult Mods scattered among my forms. I took the basket into the boss and she said: “We are not going to make a big deal out of this.” That was an understatement. One day I walked in after lunch and they were having a meeting and I said what’s going on. They said it doesn’t concern you. I still don’t know what didn’t concern me because I quit and was hired by the Florida Dept of Labor Statistics. I had calculated Mods three years but within a few months, I am not kidding, the State of Florida contracted that offices’ duties out because they were unable to fulfill them.

Yup. I got cancelled 20 years ago. I worked at a bank, my first boss was black, she was great. Then we got a new black district manager and after a meeting where she announced a speshul ghetto bank account package and me expressing a little disbelief that people would get speshul privilege due to their color I was totally screwed. The black customers, rich attorneys and little old black ladies from the ghetto had no problem with me, one even brought me tomatoes and cukes from her garden. But I was overlooked for promotions, the bank even broke their OWN rules. When I quit the personal assistant to the president told me to my face she was “So sorry about how I was treated” so they ALL knew but where scared shitless of a nigger bitch.
Incompetent bosses are terrified of competent employees. The bad bosses know they are in over their heads, and resort to petty tactics to justify their position. These crap bosses come in all shapes, colors, sizes, and orientations but we focus on our own experiences to make broad judgements. Be thankful that you were able to leave an establishment that promoted someone like that to a position of responsibility, let go of the hate and prosper.

My experience in the canoe club is that one can make a diversity candidate into a commanding officer but pair them with a strong XO that will hopefully keep them from screwing up big time. Sitting on the E-9, Master Chief Petty Officer, selection board years ago I was amazed at the bullets in evaluations going back years of candidates that rode the diversity magic carpet to E-8. Lots of activity promoting ethnic associations and activities but scant on what they did to make their organization successful or accomplishments in their rating.

I live in a rural area so I expect some period of time to prepare (hours, days?) between when TSHTF in Blue Cities and here. When I worked for the railroad as a young Switchman (before walkie talkies), sometimes I was dropped off at a switch way in the countryside in the middle of nowhere while the work train went somewhere else down the mainline. I’d put my ear to the rail every now and then because the sound of the engine’s return would show up in the rails first. I kinda feel the Earth trembling and I suspect it’s the hooves of the Four Horsemen. One thing certain though: time to be getting ready for those attackers.
