A collaboration of: “The Classic Music Mafia”
nkit, Austrian Peter, and Steve C.
Every Sunday morning we present selections for our TBP family to enjoy.
We present symphonies, ensembles, quartets, octets, etc.
Not all of our music is strictly ‘classical’. We may stray a little, but we strive to make all of our selections ‘classy’.
We offer tips on proper ‘symphony etiquette’ and even some selections that are a bit light-hearted and fun aimed at a younger audience. Those pieces will be so designated, and might be a good way to introduce kids to a world of music that they might not have been exposed to or think of as old and ‘stuffy’.
A full symphony will run as long as it will. We don’t want to cut a symphony short. However, we also include some shorter pieces that we try to keep under fifteen minutes in length. You can sample each and hopefully find one or more that pleases you.
We hope that you enjoy our Sunday selections.

AMADEUS REMASTERED HD – MOZART INSULTS SALIERI BY PLAYING HIS OWN PIECE BETTER THAN HE DID
In the movie “AMADEUS”, Mozart insults Salieri by playing his own piece better than he did.
Great movie, great scene.
This one comes to us thanks to ursel doran
Moncayo – Huapango (Alondra de la Parra, Orchestre de Paris)
The works of the long gone fabulous composers, the amazing manufacture of the instruments in such abundance, and the much practiced efforts of all the member of the orchestras is always a treat.
The conductors are also always worthy of notice, and this lady is special, IMHO!
Her animated demonstration of her love of the work is worth sharing.
You will of course have to go to YouTube to watch it though…
Barber- Adagio
We’re going to play some pretty music by different artists today.
I’ll start with a piece that one of our Music Mafia buddies posted a year and a half ago. I don’t know if his post was with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra or not, though it would not surprise me being that he is a winged-wheel fan.
Barber- Adagio is a beautiful piece that deserves to be played frequently.
Adagio in D Minor
Next we’ll shift to a Johann Sebastian Bach piece played on piano by the mysterious “Cubus.”
The piece is Adagio in D Minor.
Meditation
Next, we have Stjepan Hauser performing Meditation from the opera Thais, by Jules Massenet with the Zagreb Soloists at 2CELLOS classical concert at the Lisinski Concert Hall in Zagreb, June 2015.
Tristesse (sadness) Violin – Chopin Etude Op.10 No 3.
We’ll conclude with the great Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra playing “Tristesse” (sadness) written by Chopin. Etude Op.10 No. 3
Have a great Sunday.

The Classic Music Mafia – Adding some class to this joint one Sunday at a time.
Heaven help us…
Liszt Piano Concert No. 1, Yuja Wang
Now that Yuja has finally returned to an almost normal concert schedule, it’s good to check http://yujawang.nicerweb.com/2021/ every month or so!
While listening to this fantastic piece and concert, I was positively overwhelmed… and then dark thoughts popped up briefly: how we will reminiscence in a few years, when the “free” Internet will be entirely shut down, and such extraordinary content will not be available anymore, anywhere… Luckily I download and save such pieces, in preparation (this one here just right-click on it, but where necessary “youtube-dl” is your friend.)
More Yuja for all to enjoy. A collection. THANKS to Admin for the venue!!!
A collection.
Brahms #2 full concert.
Brahms #1 concert
Another beauty!!!
# ONE!! Rachmaninof #2 in a stunningly well done video, in a beautiful location!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD5pqlDPCHc&ab_channel=Epinerf
Schumann Concerto in A minor
Rachmaninoff #3 Macao & then Dvorjak = 1.5 hr. total
My name is not Admin, but you’re very welcome!
I first experienced Yuja on 2012-06-15 playing Rachmaninoff’s 3rd Piano Concerto, with the San Francisco Symphony under Michael Tilson-Thomas. I believe she played the long Cadenza then.
Absolutely mind-boggling experience.
THANKS very very much for this superb collection today Sir.
The Hauser performance of “Meditation”, is another special keeper.
This famous quote bears repeating often.
“A man should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of his life, in order that worldly cares may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul.” ― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Thx for the honorable mention, my fren. Yes, it was the DSO a year or so ago.

Ess – I believe we all owe you a debt of gratitude for starting this fine tradition that the mafia has continued.
Honored that you acknowledge that, Patriot. A scant few have read Steve’s post about how this came into existence, with Admin’s blessing, so many Sundays ago.
It seems to have really taken off since the early days of posting a few of my Mozart faves on the heels of Sunday Funnies.
Steve is the maestro, & Peter and Nkit consistently come forth with new material.
Kinda cool that other notable and respected platform regulars pitch in w their own offerings, for all to hear and enjoy, from T2T.
Classy Community here, on Sunday mornings, IMHO.
Honorary members can submit material as it suits them….Glad that you are back…
When I first discovered TBP a couple of years ago, your Sunday posts were among my most anticipated. When the mafia took over for you, they expanded the selections and have been wildly successful at getting reader submissions such as the excellent piece posted by Miss T this week. You are still the Godfather emeritus to this fine group.
it’s crazy, how strong bonds develope on the platform, when folks of like mind get in sync, with common bonds.
Then, too,
I was thinking earlier today, that some of the strongest friendships and support have emerged from what started out as accusatory mud flinging, and getting called out for snarky attitudes and flippant comments.
We’ve witnessed some healthy smackdowns in the past.
I’ve found myself following the comments of certain people I respect and appreciate.
You’re in that group, TN.
Thank you. This has been a week of intense listening in the post and comments. Love Barber.
See you next week.
