Build Back Better: Start with Washington, D.C.

Guest Post by Cameron Salisbury

The idea that Washington, D.C. should sink back into the swamp it came from is so good that we can’t believe we didn’t think of it sooner.

After all, what do we get from a densely populated, wealthy, centralized bureaucracy? Well, for starters, we get hundreds of elected ‘public servants’ known for their group-think. These people are susceptible to intimidation, job-loss fear, and manipulation from ranking members of their chamber, as well as over the top funding from the K street lobbyists who have ready access and outnumber them. There are roughly 12,000 registered lobbyists in Washington, D.C. and possibly a hundred-thousand more who aren’t registered and go by other names.

Never underestimate lobbyists. They are a business unto themselves. Unlike what you may think, there is a paucity of single issue do-gooders lobbying to change the world for the better. Lobbyists are a well organized group who have training schools, career paths, instruction manuals, and how-to lists. In the event of a set back, they are given paths to go around the road block to reach their desired end. They are given instructions on how to write the bills they want passed.

These people are largely amoral mercenaries but they are very well paid which is why there is no shortage of applicants for the job. Numerous top lobbyists make over a million dollars a year. Lobbying itself is, despite attempts to control it, an ungoverned billion dollar industry with no elected members. Lobbyists are employed mainly by billion dollar industries seeking to avoid regulation. Think Coke and RoundUp.

They aren’t working for us.

Let’s move on to the folks who are working for us. Or so we think. We elect and pay the legislators we send to Washington to represent us. Once there, the main interference they find to doing their job and our will may not be lobbyists. The primary impediment first will be the power brokers in their own party, currently Representative Nancy Pelosi and Senator Chuck Schumer. These people have already been lobbied, have read the polling numbers, and have made the executive decision that they know what’s best for the party, and for their own future. They do their best to coerce legislators in the party to see things their way.

If they represent the party in power and we don’t, it hardly matters what we want. Why else would a Democratic Congress have allowed a Democratic president to violate constitutional law with no thought given to impeachment, as when Biden encouraged open borders and the mass immigration that will further bankrupt and balcanize the country? Or when he insisted on killing the economy with lockdowns and ordered mandatory vaccines in violation of the Bill of Rights? He threatened to ignore the Supreme Court when it ruled against him. And he got away with all of it.

President Biden is the man roughly half of the voting public wanted in office. Unfortunately, he isn’t only their president. We’re all stuck with him for the next few years.

One of Biden’s themes as he bankrupts America is ‘Build, Back Better.’ That is a great idea. Let’s start with Washington D.C.

All those expensive politicians we support miles from home could easily be supported right where they live, among the people who elected him. With the computer and telecom technology available to every citizen, elected officials can stay in touch without leaving home. Face-to-face meetings, as well as group meetings, could all be handled remotely. Best of all, politicians would never be allowed to lose site of the reason for their election – the people they serve. The electorate would stop being an afterthought in someone elses’s agenda and take the place it deserves in a democracy.

This will make things very difficult for lobbyists whose salaries depend on close proximity to their victims. Lobbyists would still be active but with very changed, more circumspect lives, as they must contact each prey in its home state.

If we were running things there would be a lot of changes to our lives.

Would we approve a defense budget for an inept, corrupt, out of touch agency that consumes 60% (no, not 25%) of our taxes?

After massively cutting the defense budget, we’d have money for top drawer public education, better roads, safer bridges and a dependable railroad system in big cities and across the country.

We could stop worrying about Social Security running out of money and the need to raise taxes to cover the cost. Why is cutting the defense budget never even considered?

We’d rescind the government’s coerced agreement to give Big Pharma a pass on negotiating prices for Medicare drugs or vaccines.

We’d make sure we had a court system, including a Supreme Court, that was apolitical and responded to us.

We’d never again have an economy-destroying lockdown or any official response to a minor and easily controlled disease.

All medication would be a private matter and would not ever be mediated by petty tyrants, like Anthony Fauci.

Out-of-control despots, like Rochelle Walensky of the CDC and Anthony Fauci who are today allowed to speak for the government, prevent the sick from getting medicine that would heal, and keep the ‘pandemic’ going, would be immediately jailed if not executed for first degree murder.

Big Tech would be heavily regulated, subject to consumer protection laws. Censoring posts in violation of the free speech provision of the Constitution would cause their closure. Now, they freely state that the Constitution doesn’t apply to them. And our elected government tacitly agrees!

Any justified disagreement with election results would cause the election to be stopped until a new election was held.

For the sake of the U.S. and the safety of citizens throughout the world, the CIA should be shredded. The CIA has been responsible in the U.S. and around the world for assassinations that have changed the course of history. This agency, part of the DOD, has almost single-handedly caused the U.S. to be one of the most hated and feared nations on earth. As soon as they have the capacity, one of our sanctioned enemies will do what they can to destroy us and our satellite – based existence. We used to have the ability to get along with neighbors. We can do it again if the CIA vanishes.

So far our government appears to have no inkling of how fed up we are. When a Democrat lost the governorship in Virginia to a no-name Republican, Nancy Pelosi’s blamed the fact Congress hadn’t passed the trillion dollar bills President Biden wanted. So she doubled down on a visibly moronic spending bill, and true to form, Congress passed it..

Once we’ve demolished Foggy Bottom and environs we can begin tearing down useless, redundant, fraud prone agencies, like the Department of Education, CDC and NIH. And then we can get a handle on the budget and who’s getting what for what purpose. How many useless grants for idiotic ideas are granted by numerous agencies for billions of your dollars annually? As a former federal bureaucrat responsible for funding grant applications, you can believe me when I say the number is depressing. No one in government, from the president on down, seems able to acknowledge that they are dealing with our money, our economy, our future.

After we’ve turned our government into something more livable than we have now, we can start rethinking the way we treat our neighbors. Why do we insist on telling people how to live their lives? For example, the ‘War on Drugs’. The Netherlands handles drug addiction and prostitution safely, humanely and without criminalizing the population. And talking about things that are none of our business, why is the abortion issue now before the Supreme Court?

The Founding Fathers, as well as the WWII generation, would be appalled at what we’ve allowed to happen to us.

Let’s start over.

Small government best serves the people. Hamilton and Madison felt a corrupt government would best serve the interests of the elite who in turn would trickle down the benefits to the masses. Of course, it is plain to see this does not work. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Americans would to best to ignore DC altogether. Run the States like is was intended. Repeal the 16th and 17th Amendments. Then teach the world how horrible Hamilton and Morris really were, unlike some WOKE musical. Show what a terrible human and reprehensible American Lincoln, Roosevelt, Wilson, Roosevelt, Johnson, Bush, Clinton, Obama are.

I was really disappointed to learn all of that, but I don’t get to pick my own facts. For awhile I just knew how vile Hamilton was, but Madison was also a slimy aspiring oligarch. I remember being proud that I had gone to a school named after Madison, whom I thought was one of the greats of our “Founding Fathers”. So, we look to the present, not the past. Reality is a better teacher than sketchy history.

“President Biden is the man roughly half of the voting public wanted in office.”

Bullshit

It makes it difficult to take them seriously.

As Ron Paul famously says about the income tax…..abolish it and replace it with NOTHING.

Why build it back better? Government IS the problem. “Better” government is simply not possible, or will never last. Just get rid of it and allow voluntary cooperation to take its place. We already know what needs to get done. Why get unaccountable folks in the way?

There is no “better.”

How about instead of “building it back”, we just pour salt over the ashes?

There won’t be any ashes.

Only glass.

Let’s not pick and choose…Burn it all down and go back to the Articles of Confederation…

I live in an unincorporated town. No ‘Mayor’ it is run by a county board. No local police, County Sheriff and their deputies. Everything seems to operate just fine, most people don’t realize how much government we can live without.

An apolitical court responds to no one.

And abortion is murder.

I love the concept of this article.
But I know the nature of my enemy.
Wishful thinking at best. A panacea for those who have yet to embrace the truth.
This ship is going down…
Prepare accordingly.
Wish it weren’t so…

Biden encouraged open borders and the mass immigration that will further bankrupt and balcanize the country? Or when he insisted on killing the economy with lockdowns

Stopped reading right there. Who was President when the economy was killed with lockdowns?

Whenever you hear “build back better”, just substitute the words “green new deal”.

Yes, they are absolutely corrupt and yes, they stole the election. So what? The Republicans are cucks who only know how to lose…..and even if they win, they do NOTHING with the power they achieve from victory.

The basic ‘normies’ are asleep in the matrix and wish to remain so. The rest are afraid and powerless. Nobody has a ‘line’ that once crossed they are willing to act. Everybody ‘has a family to feed’ or a ‘job they need’. Nobody will do shit unless faced with certain death. Hell, they will try to force vaccinate your children against your will with a substance that may kill them….. Then what?? Once your child is dead, will you finally act? Sorry, but a tweet or a vote just won’t cut it.

Great ideas 70 years to late !
As a former government parasite by your own admission let’s start with your retirement benefit package that without deficit spending you would be bankrupt and be standing in the WAl Mart entrance and qualify for an independence card

Burn it down and never build it back would be a much better solution.

Yes to all of this but it cannot happen because too many incomes are on the line. The only option now is new nations. Start with cultural secession and move to actual separation. We need a Soviet Union style collapse. Take every opportunity now to stop feeding the Beast.
