Inflation Devastation for the Democrats

Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

Inflation Devastation for the Democrats

Most of you whippersnappers were not even Planned Parenthood targets back when inflation was last a thing. It was the late-seventies, which you people associate with funky clothing and disco music. Most of us who lived through that miserable decade associate it with economic malaise, notably including massive inflation and 18% interest rates.

Yeah, think about 18% interest, all you folks with an adjustable rate loan. You’re spoiled by cheap money and low inflation. You are about to learn a lesson in economics. See, when Uncle Sucker prints lots of money and there are fewer things to buy, you get inflation. Prices rise. And your standard of living falls.

Despite the economic insights of Joe Biden and his cast of mutants, there’s no changing it. And no, inflation is not evidence that all is well. That’s like a leper saying “Well, now that my big toe fell off, there’s less stuff to be infected. I’m cured!”

You are already seeing the results of the flood of fiat money wished into being by a liberal Congress. We have not gone full Weimar yet, but if they pass this BBB thing, life will be a cabaret.

If you have a car right now, good for you. It’s worth a lot more than it was six months ago. You can sell it and maybe make a profit. I scored by buying out a lease for a price set pre-inflation three years earlier – you should have seen the dealer wince. But if you need a new or used car, uh oh. Between the supply chain problems getting new vehicles (the manufacturers can’t get parts to build them, and once they do there’s the nightmare of moving what cars they do have to the dealers) plus the shortage of old ones to sell used, it’s a nightmare.

Obviously, Trump is to blame. Plus, insurrectionists and transphobes.

Anyway, you pull up to the pump and, here in California, it’s at least $5 a gallon. My fine European touring sedan takes $80 to fill up. I don’t commute that far, which is nice. But if you do, uh oh. Now, our desiccated old pervert of a president was crowing last week about how great it is that prices have gone down a whopping $.07 in the last few weeks. Putting aside that his assertion of prices dropping is bullSchiff, gas went gone up a buck and a half over the last year.

Why? Well, when you shut down pipelines and oil exploration to appease the angry weather goddess worshipped by pagans in Manhattan and Santa Monica, you get less oil. Less supply, same or more demand – it’s not hard. We could increase the supply, but maybe he figures that this is just what they’ll expect. When that freak staggered into office, we were energy independent. Now he’s begging sheiks to pump up the pumping volume. The indignity of America groveling is a feature to the America-hating jerks who Americans sort of elected to run America.

Head into the meat department and the ground beef you use to make cheeseburgers, like a real American, is twice as expensive as it was. Rib-eye and New York cuts are astronomical. Pretty soon, we’ll all be paying $1,000 for a wheelbarrow to cart our cash to the Safeway.

Again, the people who rule you and who hate you love this. Inflation is a punishment for you existing. You should not be driving – free people drive. Nor should you be eating food you like – that’s a prerogative of free people too. To deny you the ability to do these things is part of the point. You must be conditioned to accept less, to take what you are given – by them. You know, your masters.

COVID conditioning is part of it too. They want you to learn to accept arbitrary rules. If the rules make no sense – if they contradict what you were told a week before – that’s even better. The idea is to train you to submit to them, to accept less and to accept their commands, regardless of how ridiculous they are.

Now, our leftist enemy is arrogant and ignorant, and that’s a bad combo. Leftists talk only to each other in their blue bubbles, egged on by MSNBCNN, come to a commie consensus, and proceed. But they ignore the rest of us. After all, we’re sheep meant to obey – and to be sheared.

The problem is, at least for now and outside of big blue cities, we normal people still get to vote. And we are angry – very, very angry. Inflation is devastating our families. It’s not such a big problem when your diversity consulting gig pays you mega-bucks, but for people just getting by – especially after the same ruling caste screwed up the economy panicking over the pandemic – inflation is devastating. And the polls show voters are steamed even though the legacy media obediently tries to push the narrative that all is swell.

6.8% inflation rate is a 6.8% tax on every single dollar, with no deductions or loopholes. And the real rate not even 6.8%. That’s the phony baloney Consumer Price Index that is designed to hide the real inflation rate. Housing costs went up something like 30%, and math, which is now racist for some reason, teaches that 30% is a lot more than 6.8%.

The Democrats are salivating at paying off their deadbeat constituents with the “Build Back Better” boondoggle. It’s about as popular as toe fungus – in Joe Manchin’s West Virginia, the vast majority of voters strongly disapprove, and Joe Manchin is key to getting the bare minimum to pass it. While other senators know that this inflation-fueling atrocity means that that they will get creamed next November, only Manchin (and to some extent Kristin Sinema) are standing up against it. The fact that its ridiculous gimmicks (like assuming its new social programs will end in three years) hide an additional $3 trillion on top of the ~$2 trillion official price tag only makes it worse. Manchin knows his state, and his state knows that inflation is going to crush its citizens.

If Manchin holds strong, he’ll be doing his garbage party a huge favor. Inflation will have a huge effect on the next election. It will mean spectacular deflation in terms of Democrat officeholders. It just might not leave much of a country for the GOP to govern.

Considering this article is about inflation, you should look up how Reagan saved this country from runaway inflation that would have destroyed it. Saved it for a little less than 40 years anyway, until the communist coup of 2020.

Another kool-ade drinking dumbass…

Over the Reagan years, despite a huge and unnecessary military buildup, federal spending on social programs increased in real terms and as a percentage of the federal budget.

Entitlement spending continued to increase from 1980 to 1987, with the three largest programs—Social Security, Medicare, and other healthcare spending—increasing 84 percent.

Reagan traded increases in defense spending for even larger increases in nondefense spending.

Reagan’s defense budget bought systems that were technologically infeasible, were unneeded, were white elephants, or had no viable strategic rationale.

Despite his small government rhetoric, Reagan seemed to have little sustained desire to cut nondefense spending, actually added a cabinet department (the Department of Veterans Affairs), and increased the number of federal employees from 2.8 million to 3 million.

During Reagan’s first term, the yearly federal budget deficit grew from 2.7 percent to a then record of 6.3 percent of GDP. By 1989, at the end of his second term, the national debt stood at $2 trillion, making him one of the worst peacetime spendthrifts in US presidential history.

Reagan was a welfare/warfare statist. True, he was a tax cutter. But he was also a tax raiser. Reagan’s tax hikes in 1982 and 1984 “then constituted the biggest tax increase ever in peacetime.” Reagan raised taxes in six out of the eight years of his presidency, thirteen times in all. He increased payroll taxes and had “the largest increase ever in corporate taxes.” Reagan’s net tax reduction “was the smallest per capita of any Republican president during the post-World War era.”

The Democrats decades long program to pervert the American system of governance is coming to a rapid close. At this rate Democrats will not be able to get elected Dog Catcher. They know this and they are in full panic mode. They are more dangerous than a cornered raccoon. At this point they will do anything and I do mean anything to hang on to power. Expect the worst. Probably a huge false flag event or a war or something of that nature to try to save their collective arses.

Most people don’t know , but the mortage meltdown was birthed in Georgia with the defeat of Roy Barnes by the banksters most favored GOP criminal Sonny Perdue. The first GOP governor of GA since reconstruction; 150 year of fiscally responsible Democrats and the first Republican carpetbagging swine elected to lead Ga since the rebel yell die down bankrupts the entire nation. For awhile there, Ga had the highest bankruptcy rates in the USA.
Good job Republican tools.

Gov. Roy Barnes drove one of the last nails into his political coffin in 2002. He forced passage of a law to rein in predatory lenders gone wild. Lobbyists for lenders were stunned at the way they were run over by Barnes, but they swore to get even.

The law didn’t remain intact but a year. Gov. Sonny Perdue and his Republicans trashed it as one of their premier acts after taking over. A goodly number of turncoat Democrats, elected on pro-consumer platforms, joined in the crusade to restore predatory lending to its former unregulated vigor. After all, it had been one of the state’s most profitable industries.

A lot has happened since Barnes took a poke at the predators.

In the legislative session of 2003, banking lobbyists warned that the Barnes law was so restrictive that it would shut down the mortgage business in Georgia. No one (meaning Wall Street) would buy such encumbered loans, moaned Georgia’s alarmed lenders.

The White normies will split their vote between Perdue and Kemp . giving Jones the virtue signaling White coupled with the Republican black and independent tard vote virtually ensuring Stacey Abrams is elected governor of Georgia.

The Wall Street owned Ga Republican party has thrown hundreds of billion of dollars attracting Woke corporations , in the name of economic development to Ga and the payoff will be a Blue Georgia , forever. Everything has it’s price.
The Corporatocracy owns Ga now and the GOP sold it to them.

At the end of the Jimmy Carter presidency I was working for Household Finance making second mortgage loans at 21%!!! I had a pair of pinking shears chained to my desk and at signing I would have (usually the wives) cut up anywhere from 10 to 20+ credit cards that were all at 32% interest. Brandon has introduced a level of financial inefficiency into the country that Trump had managed to redirect. Living in Prince George during this time, late 70’s mid 80’s. Mortgage rates were 21% and people were still buying houses. Banks were not ‘selling’ martages that you could lock in for 5 years. People buying usually just ended up walking away from their homes, move out in the night sort of speak. LOTS of for sale signs everywhere, at that time.

Looks like it will be revisited soon…

I just saw a townhouse in the same complex go for just shy of half a millon. Probably on a minimum down, floating rate. Because interest rates will never rise and property values only go up……. they hope.

Inflation is far higher now than ever in the history of the United States. The only difference is now it is measure differently – in other words, we are lied to.
If inflation was measure the same way it was in the 70’s and 80’s it would be over 15% – the highest ever recorded.

I have been trying to get people to understand inflation for years. Hopeless.

I start withthe simple question “if X has doubled in price in 7 years, what was the inflation rate?”. invariably the answer is 2-3%. That is what they are told, so that is what they regurgitate.

When told 10% they deny that is correct, intransigently. Little point it further efforts to educate them.

Kurt, Fun read! (No sarc). Well written and wise advice to the “whippersnappen”. I was there in the 70’s, and it sure feels similar economically. But now all our institutions are broken in a fourth turning style so the inflation is only one factor of many. There is no such thing as going back.
I see this meme sometimes in my mind: God looking down at mankind and thinking, “Looks kinda like Noahs’ time; Looks kinda like Babel; Looks kinda like Sodom; I think a few decades of Stone Age will do these people some good.” He’s a good God and Sovereign, but we’ve brought all this mess on ourselves..

As a Republican contributor, activist, operative, for the last ten years, I can tell you that the belief that Republicans will govern any differently from the commie Democrats is truly pie in the sky. Don’t get your hopes up. A change in parties will make no difference…80 Republicans, including Kevin McCarthy, voted for a national health care database. Congress is inundated with fascists on both sides.
