Jordan appeals to my son’s generation, in spite of (and perhaps because of) Jordan’s problems with both his professional and personal life. He’s a voice the millenials might very well respond to… I hope those in power and those in follower mode listen and take heed.

I’m not holding my breath. Both Trudeau and Ford here in Ontario have shown no interest in changing course. Ford held the carrot out yet again this week promising by the end of this week we *may* see some loosening of restrictions and lockdowns.

Perhaps not for much longer if Trudeau continues to keep the border closed to unvaccinated truckers. Both of my local chain grocery stores are starting to look as though they’ve been picked over by locusts, with whole sections empty of things like canned vegetables, dry pasta and fresh cheese, and the meat sections have been thin for weeks, often having mostly pork products and not much else. Relatives report the local Walmart was as empty of stock yesterday as it was at the start of this Covid nonsense. If people start going hungry, perhaps they’ll be motivated to actually do something about this situation, rather than wasting their time protesting outside Ford’s Etobicoke home.
Lets hope so… British Communista and Comtario are the two most heavily regulated and long term communist holds in canukistan. So you can count on them to hold out for as long as possible then blame everyone else for forcing them to hold out…
Boris is in trouble politically, so had to do something to bolster his support. Brandon is in much deeper do-do, but cannot be recalled through a vote of no confidence. Fidel’s kid seems to be reigning supreme so does not feel the pressure to let up and will continue forging ahead.

I think you’ve experienced the phenomenon.
I tried to listen to him despite my misgivings and got precisely what I expected. He is dishonest and has shown phenomenally poor judgment for a man of his age, influence and stature. The very least he could do is to seek some sort of redemption rather than pretend that it never happened. And now he’s acting all high and mighty about it as if has some kind of moral authority. I found it embarrassing.
The video montage looks like something you’d see in a pharmaceutical ad- it is beyond patronizing, not to mention it had nothing to do with the monologue.

Jordan actually helped my son get through some difficult times during his last couple years in college, from a distance. He answered an email that made a real difference.
He irritates Nick, as well, and Nick hollered “Is that Peterson again?” and I said “Yes, shut up.”
It is Nick’s job to be a good father, which he does well, as you do, I’m sure.
Nick won’t listen to Peterson either and thinks it is all a bunch of gobbledeegook. He wonders why our son talks to me about “stuff” and not to him. I asked our son if he got interested in psychiatric/psychology issues to fix himself or to fix me. He said, “If I could manage to do one, it would fix both of us, I think.”
I’m just glad he knows how to code, because he ain’t fixed me yet. But, then again, God’s still working on me too.
His ideas have helped a son of mine too. Still, it is easy to question his judgement. He did feign surprise at becoming addicted to psychotropics, which should strike anyone with even a passing knowledge of the perils of that class of drugs as a bit odd.
Why does someone who spent his entire career working in field of psychiatrics, a field that prescribes these types of drugs, drugs he likely either prescribed or referred to others to prescribe, not have even a passing knowledge of side-effects and inherent dangers that come with addiction with benzos.
Peterson is way smarter than I am and even I think that was and is dumb.
That is what I don’t get….
A good way to put it. My son, in an engineering school environment, lived around some chemical engineering students with license to grow all sorts of mushrooms.
He emailed Peterson to ask if using psilocybin (mushrooms) was something that might address Aspergers (still no “real” diagnosis, but also, no “real” therapy. He graduated and works for a living. Yeah, me.)
The reply was to read the following literature and learn more about what you are asking, and if possible, ask your parents for their opinions.
He did and it all seems to have ended up well.

I’ve had all kinds of associations with people who were spot on about some things but had deep character flaws that compromised their message. It’s great to be open to anyone as long as they walk the walk, that’s the real test. Anyone can espouse an opinion or formulate a position, but then you have to man up and actually live it. Peterson failed that part- in my estimation- and has yet to own it. Many are far more forgiving and I respect that, but I take everything he says now with a hefty dose of salt. This piece only reinforces the flaws that were demonstrated earlier. Does he have a point or is this a promo for a new drama on CBS? How can you tell?
But like I said, if he leads horses to water than he kind of redeems himself, I just wouldn’t look to him as a paragon of anything other than the efficacy of the articulate.
I simply saw it as a request to publicize his situation. Others saw a need to attack.

That is why I prefer transcripts. Some people simply annoy by their presentation and the message, however good, gets lost because people are turned off by the presenter.
Read a transcript of Nixon and one fron JFK. JFK presented well in person so the message mattered little to the masses as people were attracted to him. Nixon was the opposite.

Jordan Peterson is a salesman. No fault to him, he did, well still does, work as an academic. His trade is to sell ideas. He was doing it in the first video back thereabouts in 2015, and he is selling them now.
The fact that he resigned from being a Professor hardly matters. He has succeeded in gaining the notoriety that most academics crave. He can now move on, and good for him, knowing that a hundred years from now, when the history of this is written about, he will be a figure of interest in the lexicon of today.
Props to him for being able to also make it pay.
