WAR ON THE DEMOLISHERS

Victor Hugo watched as ancient France and all of her monuments and edifices were destroyed by the same kinds of people that today pull apart the foundations of heritage America.

A fascinating insight into the manner that history is rewritten by those who are alien to that shared experience.

“The vandalism is architected. The vandalism settles in and lounges. The vandalism is celebrated, applauded, encouraged, admired, caressed, protected, consulted, subsidized, defrayed, naturalized. The vandalism is the one who undertakes works on account of the government. It’s installed itself insidiously in the budget, and it nibbles it quietly, like a rat its cheese. And sure, it earns its money. Every day it demolishes something of the little that is left of that admirable old Paris. What do I know? The vandalism has whitewashed Notre-Dame, the vandalism has retouched the towers of the Palace of Justice, the vandalism has razed Saint-Magloire, the vandalism has destroyed the cloister of the Jacobins, the vandalism has amputated two steeples out of three on Saint-Germain-des Pres. We might in some cases speak of buildings that it has built. The vandalism has its newspapers, its cliques, its schools, its chairs, its public, its reasons. The vandalism has for it the bourgeois. It’s well nourished, well paid, buffed with pride, almost scientist, very classical, good logician, strong theoretician, joyous, powerful, affable if need be, good speaker, and self-satisfied. It plays the patron. It protects the young talents. It is professor.”

As a kid in school, we stood for Dixie and the Star Spangled banner . Now we stand for nothing.

“Everyone should do all in his power to collect and disseminate the truth, in the hope that it may find a place in history and descend to posterity. History is not the relation of campaigns and battles and generals or other individuals, but that which shows the principles for which the South contended and which justified her struggle for those principles. ”
Robert E. Lee

“The principle for which we contend is bound to reassert it’s self, though it may be at another time and in another form.”
President Jefferson Davis, C.S.A.

“Sirs, you have no reason to be ashamed of your Confederate dead; see to it they have no reason to be ashamed of you.”
Robert Lewis Dabney, Chaplain for Stonewall Jackson

Cow was cheap, back in those days. Now it’s all wood pulp and soy.

Well, beef was cheap enough that on Friday’s I’d skip my 50 cents/day food allowance and treat myself to a really good first class meal ( a Burger from the cafe behind FSU) and it was bigger than #1 above.

Germans left Spartacus and went their own way. Got their forces exterminated soon thereafter.

President Jefferson Davis had his Leonidas moment, General Braxton Bragg was there too,
saving the day through a cool courage.

Our monuments are a reflection of our history. Certainly, a monument is put together by a community based upon their particular subjective views and conclusions about a particular event. These monuments create context for discussions and allow all of us to ponder our past… to determine for ourselves about what the truth may or may not be. The systematic removal of these historic monuments strips us of our cultural context and destroys the ability of future generations to understand the progression of this nation, both good and bad. This removal is a controlled demolition by a minority of activists bent on obliterating any view that differs from their own deviant perspective.

As we all understand, each prong on these attacks is meant to eliminate our cultural norms and mores and to allow for the state propaganda to fill the void they themselves created with one of control and domination of individual freedom and thought. It’s just all so obvious yet any opposition has been corralled to allow this nonsense to pervade unobstructed. Where is our maginot line?

BP, yes. Our maginot line was public and higher education, but they crashed through that decades ago. If we want our history we must now take it back.

Maybe the use of Maginot Line. It’s like asking, “Where is our Chamberlain?”. The answer to “where is our Maginot Line?” is always “Below and behind the Luftwaffe.”
I did not downvote the comment, btw. I gave it the thumbs up. But I do think it’s an unfortunate analogy.

It’s good but to me our Maginot Line was the Constitution and Abraham Lincoln blew everything to Hell. The public schools were America’s Gettysburg; they were destroyed by bussing. Society was destroyed by the 1964 Civil Riots Act, Affirmative Discrimination (Reconstruction), and the Great Society. FJB wants to start WWIII and we are all dead men walking.

Ah…Victor Hugo. One of my absolute favs. I understand and feel his passion…I think about him often (not kidding). Thanks for posting this. I’ll read through it all when I have more time later today.

HSF…a bit off topic…have you or your wife read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society? Not heavy literature like Hugo, but very charming. There is a movie as well that is true to the book and beautifully made. While not about Hugo at all, the author gave him a nod as it takes place on the Island of Guernsey, where he lived in exile and wrote Les Mis. Your wife may enjoy it more than you…not sure. (good gift along with the movie…hint hint)

I graduated from RE Lee HS which did well in academics and sports, but the Commies changed the name to MLK which only excels in riots. When the Revolution is over, let’s destroy all the MLK and Rosa Parks monuments and change all the street names back. Then rebuild monuments to the Founding Fathers, inventors, statesmen, etc; and recreate schools dedicated to learning the 3R’s per se using teaching methods that work.
