Joel Salatin is so far out ahead of the curve it isn’t funny. If I hadn’t stumbled across him I’d probably be a fat, unhappy, divorced slob drinking myself to death and alienated from my children.
Well maybe not, but I wouldn’t be where I am now.
Listen to his counsel, he hasn’t been wrong yet.
Get to know and appreciate your farmer friends! Hola!
Without a doubt Farmer, Salatin is a man worth listening to. I have been subscribed to Dunagun Kaiser since his early ‘Reluctant Prepper ‘ days and have always found him brighter than brilliant in his expertise.
I have been following Joel Salatin for years. Some commentator wrote that he is proof that one man can change the world. I could not agree more. True heros come in muck boots.
The solution is buy local. http://www.localharvest.org
Great idea! With one caveat….some of the local CSA’s on that list are so WOKE you’d probably have to show your BLM card in addition to your clot shot passport to walk through (even on a public street.) How do I know…I’ve been verbally assaulted for not wearing a fckn face diaper Outside on a public street attempting to support some of those farmer’s market. Guess what….fuk ’em. I’ll eat rat before I give them another cent of my hard earned moolah.
Look around. You should be able to find a good Mexican farmer beside the road in any state to sell you produce. I think they are in every state, now.
Is that you?
BB?
Not according to Yoji. I thought the same thing.
Its deeply troubling that when I click on the link I am taken to listings for my city. Big Brother is always watching. Thanks for the link. Like SeeBee says below, some of these government-organized markets leave a lot to be desired for many reasons.
Most town governments enforced the mask rule upon the members of the farmers’ markets under the threat of closing them down, endangering the farmers’ incomes.
I’m not sure the greatest threat to the food supply isn’t hoarding, encouraged by endless predictions of food shortages.
I’ve seen this message before where people who take the time, effort and their OWN money to prepare for an emergency are regarded as hoarders. Sorry, its not hoarding its called Emergency Preparations.
If you think you can weather an emergency, and emergencies which weirdly don’t announce their arrival date, with zero preparations, then you deserve every hardship that comes with being stupid.
Empty larders go hand-in-hand with pre-programmed goobersmoochery.
Also, a big empty space in the house where the gun safe should rightly reside.
But they all have plenty of time to condescend to planners and preppers and blame the prudent for the world’s woes.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
My neighbour whom I thought was a team member got moved to the other side of the line. When he mentioned people buying and storing food were hoarders and that he’ll feed his cat before himself, I kinda figured out quick he’s not one to trust in a SHTF.
But then I’m kinda fussy with whom I share my foxhole…
Your foxhole, your rules.
Chapter 1; subsection 26 in the Universal Code of MANWORLD.
Just remember’ it is ok to use non hoarders as compost. Don’t eat them.
I am sure hoarding will be an issue when the realization that we have a real problem becomes clear to the masses. As usual, the idiot masses will be too late and by the time the hoarding starts, the supplies will already be so low as to create panic.
The people who are already well stocked do not need to panic or hoard. They just need to execute the plan they have been developing for years.
It sounds like he couldn’t get/be any more green. Does that mean he’s woke? 😀
JIT, just like every other highly successful Japanese production improvement tool, was used by western nations improperly and to their detriment. ALL of these tools (Kanban, Poke-Yoke, and so many others) were simply meant as TOOLS to help one uncover the weak links in one’s chains of manufacturing and supply. Typical westerners (mostly the US), saw them as money-saving ideas and so implemented them in this manner. I remember JIT being introduced on the product line I worked on. We were nearly out of business in less than a year….mostly because some of the raw materials we used were very unique, varied greatly by batch in the way they interacted with our product (a manual medical device/testing kit), and so could NOT be purchased “just in time.” After a couple of stock outs and lost business to competitors, the idiots in the ignorance-filled corner offices finally let us purchase large amounts of the critical stuff while maintaining smaller stocks of the easily-obtained stuff. As a tool, it highlighted for everyone where our weak point were, but the point was to FIX THEM or MITIGATE against issues, not just to blindly cut costs and hope for the best. People laugh at those who stock up, but a proper assessment of other people’s supply chains makes it very clear that this kind of thinking makes far more sense than pretending that the store shelves will always be full….especially when your government has provoked a war between the two largest agricultural exporters on the planet.

Recall, too, that it was the Japanese who followed the quality control methods of W E Deming after WW2 — and it propelled them ahead of the arrogant US companies that thought they had no worries and no need to be concerned with quality.
The rest, as they say, is history –- and W E Deming is recognized as a National Treasure in Japan.
Humility is a valuable trait …
