It is my sincere desire to provide readers of this site with the best unbiased information available, and a forum where it can be discussed openly, as our Founders intended. But it is not easy nor inexpensive to do so, especially when those who wish to prevent us from making the truth known, attack us without mercy on all fronts on a daily basis. So each time you visit the site, I would ask that you consider the value that you receive and have received from The Burning Platform and the community of which you are a vital part. The little girl with the “There’s Something About Mary” hairdoo is just screaming out for an Epstein reference.
Can anyone identify this car? Rear engine euro something?
Opel GT
That was going to be my vote.
Me too.
Me three. I immediately thought “opel”. Damn I am old.
Hint – It’s a four letter “F” word.
I’m going with the fiat 2100
It is a Fiat. Don’t know about the number.
That’s a Fiat 850 coupe. Late 60’s early 70’s.
Fix It Again, Tony!
Can’t imagine why there might be some confusion. LOL Here’s an Opel.
went to grade school everyday sitting on the luggage shelf behind the seats, with my brother. those were the days….
1969 Fiat 850
Not rear-engined. But in those days, Italian law said all sedans had to be built with ventilated trunk lids for those occasions when certain paesani got taken for a ride…
Fiat 850 sports. 843cc and 37Hp – I owned one until it rusted out.
That there is a Fiat 850 Sport Coupe – Walt’s mum had a red one.
That day when you realize you’ve entered the old man phase of life? That’s today. Of course I remember those plastic balloons! Just don’t ask me what happened yesterday.
Talk about volatile chemicals, those balloons were insane.
Ah yes, the days of the proudly worn camel toe. I miss it.
If your Mom used Mercurochrome on you, you were lucky. Mine used Merthiolate – burned like hell!
I remember my grandparents having it in their medicine cabinet. Anytime I scuffed a knee, I would know to just go put some on.
Mine used both!…not at same time, seemed to depend on what kind of injury.
My gramma would actually simmer the bottle in water on the stovetop before applying, in order to improve the efficacy of the burn…
I had a lot of fun back then. had a 55 belair coupe, small block with 4 speed. then upgraded to a 62 pontiac bonnie ragtop. had a back seat better that was just great !! gas mileage kind of sucked, and filling that tank was like 27 or28 gallons. but it was a great ride. well over 4000 pounds, it was a great highway ride.
and I still think girls back then where a lot more fun.
Wow, this was a really good one. I recognize a bunch of these.
Mercurochrome–I hated that stuff!!!
Engine changes. Yep, done that.
67-69 Camaro’s, sweet.
Bell Bottom Jeans–Yep, had a pair.
Aliens–That movie gave me nightmares.
Jello Salad–Yep, Mom fixed those.
Everybody gathering together on the Front Porch to visit–Yep, as a kid I loved to listen to my Parents and their Relatives talk about people and things they did in “The Good Old Days”.
Much thanks to the person who thought up this column. From a proud Baby Boomer (Born 1952).
Remember eating dinner at the kids’ table in the kitchen while all the adults dined in the dining room?
This reminds me how all of this degeneracy started before I was born.
Where’s the out houses, pitcher pumps, hay stacks, tractors and cover-alls, fish ponds, rifles, dogs, canned goods & hanging hams, homemade beer etc, old radios, hot rods, and livestock, etc? My dad’s first car was like the 4 door ones on Untouchables (what would it be worth today!).
