1) May 9th, 2022. Russia wins the war. May 9th is significant to Russia. On that date the German military surrendered to the Soviet Union and the Allies. Victory Day (День Победы Den Pobedy) is one of the biggest Russian holidays.
2) Ukraine loses at least half of its territory. The new country will be called “Nozzel”. (No Zel … get it?).
3) May 9th, 2027. Five years later, and despite Ukraine now reduced to just 75 acres on the Moldovan border, CuNNt, MsBS, Fux, and NewsMaxBS continue to report that Ukrainian victory is imminent.

I am using this introductory paragraph from dmitry orlov’s newest update on cluborlov, which requires payment in rubles and when I joined, it was around three bucks for 350 rubles subscription. I think the price has almost doubled in dollars, but he does provide excellent commentary and information in my opinion.

“Maybe it’s heartless to urge that we look at Ukraine with precision, without human emotion,” says the DIA official.

Following western coverage of this conflict is like watching a magician. Don’t look where they are pointing but look elsewhere at what is not being pointed at. For example, the first set of satellite before and after photos showing damage that I saw. Summer (June 21 solstice near noon w/ nearly direct overhead satellite position with full foliage) versus winter (March w/snow, lower sun angle and different satellite angle, and most importantly no foliage). Different color filtering with summer being full spectrum and winter being blue filtered given an almost black and white image reminiscent of WWII bombing devastation photos. Roof color is vastly different with some brown and red roofs showing as gray in the after image. Careful study comparing building to building showed a single roof with damage out of dozens of buildings and one possible hole in a road in spite of an initial visual impression of mass devastation. Look at trees, landforms, seasons, time of day, background writing (is it Cyrillic or Latin alphabet). Look at camera positioning, zooms, and pans. Ask what is just out of range of the camera or what happened just before or after an image. Or the heavily edited video clip of an effective ambush of a Russian armored column causing it to cowardly run away without shooting, and noting that the Ukrainians opened fire as the Russian column entered the edge of what appeared to be a town, lost a vehicle or two, and then withdrew instead of opening fire and leveling every building to open their field of fire. Then there is the viral heart-rending picture of the little girl whose mother wrote her name and contact information on the toddler’s back in case the mother was killed. Not sure why the mother used a Latin transcription of the girl’s name instead of writing her name in Ukrainian. First phone number had the standard 380 Ukraine international code. Second phone number was gibberish containing a letter as well as an international code that doesn’t exist.
My sense is Russia is pulling its punches to avoid civilian casualties and primarily targeting Azov types and forces that have been shelling civilians in Donbass. With air superiority, Russia could have taken out every major bridge, railroad, airport, and most road junctions across Ukraine to cause mass chaos and not allow civilians to leave as well. Then take out every communications tower, non-nuclear power plant, water processing, and major infrastructure. Then get to work flattening every gov’t building. There could be hundreds of thousands dead at this point with millions starving and without water and power if the Russian goal was to kill as many civilians as possible. Instead, there are world leaders peacefully walking around in broad daylight checking out the damage. The Russians have been playing chess and have the numerically superior Ukrainian army badly out of position. I suspect the next big move is Russia encircling the mass of Ukrainian troops in and near the Donbass and along the Black Sea coast with the threat of re-engaging near Kyiv holding any possible Ukrainian reserves back around Kyiv. Mini-dictator Z is probably going to cop a no-surrender no-retreat attitude and leave many of his units to surrender or die and calling them either cowardly traitors or valiant martyrs depending on the common sense of the commanders in the field.
I’m not sure Russia can pull it off by May 9 if Ukraine continues with using human shields and preventing civilians from fleeing… err… increasing numbers of Ukrainian civilians valiantly step up to become martyrs by getting in the way of Russian fire to protect Ukrainian troops. On the other hand, if Russia is indeed treating POWs well, gives those POWs their cell phones to start calling family and friends and other military units, much of the Ukrainian army might decide mini-dictator Z is hanging them out to dry to protect Azov types and western “advisors” and see it as wiser to surrender. I suspect the Ukrainian army could undergo an Afghanistan democracy level of collapse at some point.
My prediction is that once Russian, DPR, and LPR forces have fully taken the Donbass, the water supply to Crimea, much or all of the Black Sea coast to Odessa, and possibly some buffer region, they’ll end hostilities and stay in a position to protect those boundaries. I suspect that then the US and NATO will support Ukraine in indefinite ongoing guerrilla warfare to lob bombs and missiles across those lines and sent in saboteurs and partisans for terrorist acts to fight against the occupying forces to liberate those areas. What’s hard to predict is if Europe will decide the pains of sanctions to themselves is worth it and just recognize or DPR and LPR as countries and Crimea as part of Russia, or if Russia might get aggressive and turn off the valves on a few pipelines come November just as the first cold wave hits.
