English teachers are definitely failing to teach proper English to their students. Either that or the students simply don’t want to learn and don’t mind sounding ignorant in what they write or in their speech.
Ex. A women wrecked her car.
Ex. I saw a mice in the kitchen.
Ex. He wented to the store.
These are just three examples of what I’ve seen written down or that I’ve heard spoken aloud. Using “It’s” in place of “its” is simply symptomatic of a deeper problem which highlights the increasing level of ignorance of the general population.
Calling someone a Grammar Nazi is usually an epithet used by those who embrace and celebrate their own ignorance as well as the ignorance of others. It’s a nice little defense mechanism. Congratulations. You nailed it.
That depends. I typically use my Android tablet for what I’m doing right now on my desktop. And it makes decisions for which, if I’m not paying attention, easily turns it’s into its and vice-versa. When it comes to grammar if I’m in a hurry or in a fog, things slip through.
