So what purpose does his speech serve? TPTB will continue to do whatever they want.
Side note: doesn’t seem like rising fuel prices has had much impact so far. MASSIVE traffic on the roads this weekend. Crowds everywhere. Restaurants packed with minimum 2 hour wait everywhere. Lots of people out spending lots of money. Aren’t we headed for hard times?? Couldn’t tell one bit by the looks of things this weekend.
No pun on the post. I visited that area one time. Flew into Charlottesville and rented a car. We hung out in Massanutten and visited Joel Salatin’s farm in Swoope. Being so close we toured Alexandria.
Long story short, yeah, right, it was a most unexpected encounter with a lady in one of those small towns in the area. We stopped to do some of the tourist stuff, antique shops etc. Returning to our car a woman passed by , looked at the license plate and commented , “I feel sorry for you”. What in the world is she talking about I thought. I realized then that the rental car had a TEXAS license plate! This took place summer before Bush 43 ran for a second term.
Uncertain , Texas was packed yesterday. Drove though there on way home from church. And boat traffic in the boat lanes …I would not want to be in a boat in that area if I had one, not yesterday and probably today as well.
I suspect all lakes in Texas were packed to the gills. Hard times? Let’s say different. I’ve cut back on lot’s of stuff. Evidently some are able to carry on as if “normal” more so than others. Have to remember though, peeps have been locked up for the past two Memorial Day holidays.
Not surprising though, the number of small eating places that were closed down in Uncertain, with overgrown weeds and grass, that were still operating 3-4 years ago.
Speaking of waiting lines, don’t know if Babe’s Chicken Dinner House in Roanoke is still operating. I do know I tried that place ten years ago arriving at 4PM ( “beat” the crowd thoughts) on a Friday and the estimated wait time was two hours. I don’t mind some wait , not waiting two hours to sit at any eating place.
Babe’s serving times
Monday-Friday
Lunch – 11a.m. to 2 p.m.
Dinner – 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Tex…I’ve eaten at Babe’s in Grandbury. Wow! Great food.
Spent the weekend in San Antonio Hill Country area. Insanely busy…everywhere…(human) cattle all over the place. Not a fan of all the riff raff. Was able to find some private, more secluded spots though.
I tried ten years ago. After getting on the list after 30 minutes we decided it was not that important so opted for a b-b-q place in Roanoke. Good b-b-q and a Big Red to go with it! Crowded but walked in and got a table.
First I heard that tune a month or so ago on 88.9FM (ketr.org) in route to DFW. Those lyrics about the lawyer, He’ll be my friend until the end
Or till the money’s all gone , how true.
Surprised to pick up some red dirt on a NPR affiliate station run by radio professionals and Texas A&M-Commerce students who major in either journalism or mass communication.
Only go to DFW to visit a relative. And Forcertain, I ain’t ever going back to DFW
permanently.
Abbie – I drove from Memphis area to OKC last Thursday and the truck traffic was horrendous. The trip home today was OK until I got to Little Rock. I noticed a lot of people pulling travel trailers behind pick-ups. I just had a pickup and put $93 of gas in it this morning. I cannot imagine how much these folks with travel trailers are spending and how often they are filling up.
Yes, was on the road 2 extra hours than I should have been today due to the traffic. Bumper to bumper the whole way. Trucks, trailers, boats, etc. Even the nicer restaurants (steak houses) were packed. Seems people have no problem spending money on fun & luxury things right now.
I like to eat at places where the bus “people” might leave a few freebies on the table, some caviar perhaps. If I can make myself wait , Someday…maybe, Babe’s just might be worth it.
You must be fortunate enough to have cash flow(and perhaps no rent or home payment?)and ample savings so that you aren’t noticing the impact of the price increases. For a huge segment of our society these price increases(housing, fuel, food, etc) are making an impact. The tsunami’s arrival will further reduce the supply of everything. Hey it was a nice day of the beach before that wave thing showed up…Artificial scarcity based upon Union Pacific’s arbitrary reduction will insure that the wave will make it to shore. I hope that you will see it and head for higher ground.
People would probably be surprised to know the $$ we live on.
perhaps no rent or home payment?
Correct , it was called seeing the shit on the wall along about 2010 working in the corporate world. Savings, well yeah. Not dipping into those yet but as a saver it burns my ass what TPTB have done to old school types that were taught to “save for a rainy day”. The creeps want you to spend, spend, spend, use those credit cards and give you a bag of rocks for saving.
He is trying to explain the FUTURE impact of the action that the rail co/Union Pacific is taking. It’s like when there is an earthquake in the middle of the ocean that causes a tsunami. It takes awhile for the wave to make it to land where it will then wipe out everything unfortunate enough to be in its’ path. He is pretty good at bringing the math home…5 MILLION trucking miles per rail tanker of DEF(@ approx 4min 30 sec). And UP wants then to cut their rail shipments by how much?

at BlackRock, we are forcing behaviors.
Who Owns Union Pacific Railway and Why Did It Cut Shipping of Fertilizer to Farmers?
Vanguard and BlackRock own the majority stakes in both CF Industries, the fertilizer manufacturer, and Union Pacific, the railway distributor. Critics are suspicious of engineered food shortages.
Four years ago, Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock asset management firm that controls trillions in investments, is a member of the board of trustees of Klaus Schwab’s World Economic Forum and sits on the board of directors for the Council on Foreign Relations. A few years ago, Fink said: “Behaviors are going to have to change and this is one thing we are asking companies, you have to force behaviors and at BlackRock, we are forcing behaviors.”
I haven’t yet heard what the official excuse is for making all these cuts to rail car availability. First with the fertilizer, now with the diesel, seems like someone is deliberately engineering food and fuel shortages.
Yikes. Which one’s. This is what Ray Wylie had to say one time:
Now I love the USA
And the other states, ah, they’re okay
Texas is the place I wanna be
And I don’t care if I ever go to Delaware anyway
‘Cause we got Stubbs, and Gruene Hall and Antone’s
And John T’s Country Store
We’ve got Willie and Jacky Jack, Robert Earl
Pat, Cory, Charlie, and me, and so many more
And Hayes Carl I might add who learned some licks from none other than, Ray Wylie Hubbard.

Have you noticed Biden does everything ass-backwards? Mandates the clot-shot before it’s even tested. Pulls military out of Afghanistan before the civilians and $80 Billion in equipment.
Right now he’s on a tear about “green” so we have sky-high fuel and if this guy at Flying J is correct, shortages like we’ve never seen. But Biden is determined, he wants to destroy the economy and the markets so he can “build back better”! What a buffoon. If we don’t replace him with someone with a clue soon, we’re doomed.
Biden does not have a clue. He only reads (and not very well) what is on the teleprompter. This is a well planned operation they are executing.

Back 6 or so weeks ago when the UPRR told fertilizer shippers that they’d be moving 20% fewer shipments, the UPRR said that they were delivering this ultimatum to their shippers on orders from the administration …
That information seems to have disappeared … big surprise, that …
All of this is being orchestrated … call it the ‘Great Reset’ or the ‘Big Surprise’ or just the ‘Biggest Global Screwing Of All Time’ … the end result that TPTB have planned for US is the same — our obliteration …

True that. Spent the day with the grandkids in Old Town Alexandria Va today. They even closed some streets due to how large the crowds were/are.
No pun on the post. I visited that area one time. Flew into Charlottesville and rented a car. We hung out in Massanutten and visited Joel Salatin’s farm in Swoope. Being so close we toured Alexandria.

Babe’s is one of our favorite places to eat in the DFW area. The food reminds me of eating at Grandma’s table.
There is a special charm to that place.

Sounds charming. Tell the chef he should open one in Texas.

Uncertain, Texas, Lake Caddo, about five miles out of the way. lol

To each his/her own I suppose.
I fill my old PU with about 5 gallons each week and my eyes still open wide when I look at that pump.
People know the shit has hit the fan; they’re maxing out their credit cards.
Shit has hit the fan?? I don’t see it.
