Gun Sales Soaring in the US and Canada

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

As calls to repeal the Second Amendment continue, Americans have been buying guns at a record pace. Over 1 million civilians purchased firearms in the month of May alone, marking a record-breaking streak of 34 months of increased sales. Although the left would like the world to believe that there are no restrictions on buying guns, the majority of people who applied were not eligible. The FBI reportedly conducted 2.4 million background checks last month alone.

Gun sales in Canada have spiked as well after tyrant Trudeau announced plans to ban sales under Bill C-21. Numerous gun shops reported selling out of handguns entirely after the PM announced that it will become illegal to buy, sell, transfer or import handguns anywhere.” There are 2,500 gun retailers in Canada, and all of those shops are expecting to go out of business within months if not weeks. Exactly 55,000 guns were imported into Canada last year, but that legal trade will be prohibited.

People want to feel protected. The underground market for guns will surge in Canada, and these guns will become untraceable. Criminals especially will find a way to buy and distribute firearms with zero restrictions. The ban will not erase demand.

Once again, Biden proves no one can sell guns like a socialist in the White House. Highest numbers for NICS checks since the program started were December 2020, January 2021, and March 2021. I just hope lyin’ Biden doesn’t start warning about 50 caliber handguns. I’ve been saving up for a Desert Eagle in .50AE, and those are already in short supply!

These statistics are reported on conservative sites ad nauseum but they represent hollow threats as our governments continue to terrorize their people and nothing is done to stop them. It is obviously not a deterrent. Instead, we could consider massive on the streets non violent organization and civil disobedience that hits these tyrants in the pocketbooks. Do not participate in any of their activities or organizations.

I am NOT a “civilian,” I am a citizen. Police are not military and do not deserve the titles and ranks associated with military service. A great disservice was done in this nation when that nonsense was started. Just a sore point with me…sorry, Martin

What we need is an alternate economy. Gab has one, but what’s offered on it is mostly stuff I have no need for, or it’s way over priced. Got to give them credit for trying though.

ran t 7
ran t 7

alternate economies take decades to institute, and frequently fail. for example there was a movement in the 1840’s american south to make the southern states less totally dependent on slave-processed cotton and to generate more local industries and local manufacturing. the effort never made any headway and resulted in the south losing the war between the states.

It’s a lot like a rat bossing around a lion. If the American people ever figure out the over whelming power we have the vermin running things right now would clamor to get back in the rat hole they came out of. Buy guns, ammunition and extra magazines today if you can, even if you think you have enough. As for me, I will be getting a Sig Sauer P229 today. I was told you can blow the lungs out a man with one of these by FJB. That’s all I need to know to get me another one, one for each hand.

Demand for 9mm handguns is through the roof. There is a marketing lesson here. If manufacturers have an excess of any kind of inventory, they just need to get one of Biden’s handlers to have him threaten to ban them. Overstock solved. As to 9mm, it’s too bad the MSM just gets its stories from the White House, or we’d be reading and seeing news stories about how the 9 is one of the weaker mainstream carry rounds, compared to .40S&W, .45ACP, and 10mm, all of which have greater muzzle energy than the 9mm.

And that’s just semi auto rounds. Among revolvers, there’s .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum and .45 Colt (aka .45 “long Colt”). And for really “powerful” handgun rounds, the .50AE for the semi auto Magnum Research Desert Eagle and .500S&W for the Smith & Wesson 500 revolver, both of which will still hurt you hiding behind a concrete block wall.

Really the greatest advantage of 9mm is price and availability, and even those aren’t what they once were!

Boogieman
Boogieman

I couldn’t’ agree with you more. Chamber pressure and bolt thrust is the only advantage to the 9MM for extended service life.
It’s been proven to lack one shot stopping power.

There is a study/Demonstration from an FBI Agent which demonstrates that a 9mm Hollow Point will penetrate/expand to 40 caliber round.

The Central Scrutinizer

and what diameter will a .45 acp hollow point expand to? .50 cal? Larger?

If you want .40 cal, then BUY a .40 cal.

Anonymous

Accuracy counts. My 9mm kicks far less than my .45, so I can put the second round on target much faster. The hollow point 9mm will still do lots of damage.

If you KNOW one shot will work, bigger and more powerful is better.

One of my classmates was killed by a .22 when I was in grade school so deadly is still deadly even if small and fairly slow.

But if size and power are the goal, my 3 1/2″ 12ga. with a dummied 1.5ozx3 1/2″ slug will really do some damage.

That’s also the whole point of the .45 . You don’t NEED a follow up shot. It’s WHY the Army transitioned from the .38 TO the .45 in the FIRST PLACE! One shot. One kill.

I now own 3 – 9mm so I don’t dislike them to much. My wife likes the 9mm for the control and low recoil. She won’t shoot the colt .45acp 1911 commander I got her because she claims it hurts her wrist. I got her .45acp Hi Point M995 Carbine that she really likes though, cheap but tough, a good weapon for close range with stopping power.

Headed4TheHills
Headed4TheHills

I have the HiPoint .45ACP carbine and pistol, both of which use the same mags and saves me room in the range bag. Additional point to the HiPoint, whenever I run out of ammo, I can use the firearm as a club. Hits like a brick.

The only reason any political power or person wishes to disarm law abiding citizens is because they are planing to inflict something upon the majority of citizens that most will strike back in force refusing to comply .
Remember badge wearing armed government employees are not in place to protect your rights and freedoms . They are paid enforcers of tyrants elected , appointed & hired !
They will follow orders with the NAZI excuse : JUST DOING MY JOB !
As for peaceful protests these organized government alphabet agencies have agent provocateurs all lined up to assist law enforcement in destroying average Americans with prosecutorial piling on while everything you spent your life earning and building evaporates while the boot you paid for is on your neck !

Stopped and bought me a gun yesterday. My FFL friend told me he has been seeing a lot more women and “liberal types” coming in. He said the “liberal types” he can tell a mile away because they go into the shop with very little knowledge and inquire about self defense guns. He is a business man, so doesn’t judge when it comes to cash on the table.

So what did everyone get recently…or plan to get? I finally got my Henry Original rifle. While everyone is rushing to buy ARs, I still like me my beautiful lever action rifles.

In my experience, once you get one of those shitheads to a range and they start pinging steel spinners with a .22 or knocking over steel plates with a nine millimeter they are damn near converted to human beings. You see a change of attitude because they had a load of fun and they realize that since THEY are not criminals why shouldn’t they and other law abiding people not have guns? Before long they’re watching Warroom and Trump rallies.

Not to worry. Those who just buy a gun on a whim, will put it in a locked box, take it home and put it in the closet, never to be seen again.

They think having a gun will protect them because they are stupid. Knowing how to use it never enters their mind. You see, they have been told “guns kill people”, so the owner does not have to know how to use it. The gun will just jump out of the box and kill the bad guy all by itself.

They probably don’t even realize they need to buy ammo for it.

30-30 and .22 are about the only Henrys I don’t have.

Nothing against the 30-30 personally. I just always gravitated toward the 45-70 on account of the historical nature of the chambering. And John Wayne.

Harrington Richardson: Gimme Sachwerte!

The Duke had a Winchester 92 15″ which today is considered an SBR or short barreled rifle. There have been two commemoratives I know of, one in .44-40 which his 4 5/8″ Single Action Army was also chambered in, and one in .32-20. I have one like he used in Stagecoach, Rio Bravo and True Grit with the large loop, but 16″ in .357 Mag. A Winchester made for them by Miroku in Japan. I have never fired it.

Red River D
Red River D

How can you own a gun you’ve never fired?

SACRILEGE!!!

Many of the Colts Duke carried in his later movies were .45’s — which is why he had the 45-70 cartridge in the middle of his gunbelt; to separate the 44-40 rounds for his Winchester from the 45 rounds for his Colt. The rounds look very similar, but you don’t want to accidentally shove a 44 Winchester into your six shooter if it’s chambered in 45 Colt. Bad juju.

TBP commentator “Winchester” gave me good reviews of the Jap made Winchesters. I have somewhat softened my position on them and now consider buying one. I’d get it in 44-40, but that round has become virtually unobtainable, so .45 Colt it may be. But I might just keep looking for a low mileage used Winchester from last century, made in the US.
