Mearsheimer appears to understand, even then, that toppling a democratically elected government in the Ukraine during 2014 by the US would have long lasting implications. He also briefly mentions this action was done under the auspice of a “3rd Tranche” of NATO expansion and that Russia, like most superpowers, would see this exactly for what it was… an encirclement designed to dissolve their sovereignty. It is absolutely the definition of insanity not to work with Russia to resolve this issue peaceful. The US continues to support a dictatorship in the Ukraine because the MIC and Warmongers demand it be so, but a nuclear exchange here of any kind it not a win for anyone… “period”

The book “The Spy and the Traitor” discusses the Russian paranoia during the cold war. The information was from a top level KGB official who was a double agent for the US. This was during the cold war prior to us trying to add Eastern European countries to NATO and sending offensive capability weapons to Ukraine. Between that and the Neocons in DC who think US can win a nuclear war, the future does not look to bright excepting the nuclear flash of course. How many people in the US know about the “defensive” missile sites US has built in Romania and Poland? Probably not many. Russia not too happy about those. How does the saying go it is paranoia right up until it becomes reality?
No nukes needed, just introduce another flu virus and the people themselves will shut down the whole damn country. The proof is already there.
Create revolutionary conditions (already happening) in Central & South America (population over 500 million) and increase that refugee flow across the southern border from the current 1.5 million to 15 million+ per year for 4 or 5 years. Problem solved for Russia & China.
