On Friday morning Shinzo Abe was assassinated by a gunman in Nara, Japan.
Shinzo was shot point-blank in the back by a 40-year-old suspect with a homemade gun.
On Friday, Mandarin-speaking user Jennifer Zeng posted a disturbing screengrab taken hours before Shinzo Abe’s shooting.
The screengrab was posted about “getting close to Shinzo Abe” and “completing the task” by a Chinese language user called “重装小兔19C.”
Was this just a coincidence or something more?
China had preveiously instituted an open death threat against the former Japanese Prime Minister.

There’s a video circulating of the actual moment Shinzo was shot that doesn’t pull away from showing what happened. The first shot didn’t seem to hit him; he and the people next to him turned around to the direction of the shot and several seconds pass until the second shot, which was the kill shot. He didn’t duck (no joke intended) and no one jumped in to protect him or push him away. They all just stood there staring, like idiots.
It’s very difficult to ‘get to’ a high-profile figure and pull off an assassination. It has to be coordinated from the inside.

Shinzo Abe was a strong Japanese nationalist and gave China a lot of problems when he was PM, such as staunch support for Taiwan and closeness to India. He was out of the spotlight for a couple of years after stepping down as PM in 2020 and just recently re-entered the spotlight, campaigning for members of his conservative party who were running for office. China’s motive in bumping him off was to silence one of their biggest critics in advance of their imminent invasion of Taiwan. (It is coming.)
