An MTA bus driver crashed into an elevated subway pillar in The Bronx when she suffered a possible heart attack Thursday — leaving 12 passengers with minor injuries, cops and sources said.
The 44-year-old Bx21 driver was heading south on Boston Road when the medical episode occurred and she hit the stanchion at the West Farms Road intersection around 8:25 a.m., authorities said.
She suffered head trauma and was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was listed in critical but stable condition due to the medical episode, which sources said was possibly a heart attack.
Twelve passengers suffered minor injuries and were taken to local hospitals, cops said.
No other vehicles or pedestrians were involved in the crash.
The driver was critically hurt and an unspecified number of passengers suffered minor injuries.

MTA to require all new hires get COVID vaccine

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will require all new hires at the sprawling agency to be vaccinated before starting their jobs beginning in mid-November, officials there announced Friday.

In the earliest days of the coronavirus, March/April 2020, there was a big outbreak amongst bus drivers and mechanics at a couple of the depots / maintenance garages. About 80 workers died suddenly, at a time when treatments were generally unknown. Very quickly they decided to isolate the drivers, by making passengers get in the bus via the rear exit doors; the drivers had sheets of plastic hanging from the ceiling, and chains running across the width of the bus so nobody could get near them. Everybody was in the back of the bus, masks were required (and still are theorectically). For the next six months nobody had to pay their bus-fare, as you couldn’t get close enoughto the fare-box. There were several times when people were forced off the bus for not wearing a mask.

Is it any wonder a shortage of bus drivers exists.
In my area of NJ there is a shortage of CDL drivers, especially school bus drivers. There’s one sign up at a Jersey Transit stop along Route 9 in Union Hill advertising $35 per hour pay.
A typical school year contract is 180 days a year in my township. Our benefits were not the same as what the teachers got, medical coverage was poor, and union representation was ignored and abused by the two-faced Transportation director who caused many drivers to retire or quit. As a result the school board approved a pay raise to $30 per hour to attract replacements who were making $22 to start, and $26 with experience – but they’re STILL short-handed.
No one wants to deal with the constant “woke” administrative State bullshit, or the stress of driving on crowded roads with a bunch of poorly behaved kids for what is a really a part-time job.
As a matter of fact, one of our new school hires died in a car accident last year. It wasn’t long after the Jabs were mandated and she was on her way to work after two weeks of quarantine. Personally, I suspect she had a stroke or coronary when she lost control of her vehicle and ran head on into traffic in Toms River – probably from the shot.
I worked with her and avoided the “mandatory” shots like the plague. I’m 57.
“A 52-year-old driver died Monday morning in Toms River after she crashed head-on into a sign truck, police said.
The woman, Claudine Silvestri, of Toms River, was driving west around 7 a.m. in the left lane of Route 571 when witnesses said she suddenly drifted into the right lane and hit a curb and guardrail, according to a statement from the Toms River Police Department.
Her car then veered to the left, went into oncoming traffic and collided with the sign truck before it caught fire, investigators said.
Police were able to extinguish the flames and pull Silvestri’s body from the wreck, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remained under investigation Monday night by the Toms River Police Traffic Safety Bureau.”
