On Sunday, Texas Democrat gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke announced that he would be pausing his campaign after being hospitalized with a bacterial infection. O’Rourke tweeted on Sunday afternoon that he had been feeling “ill” on Friday, and went to Methodist Hospital in San Antonio where he was diagnosed with a bacterial infection. “While my symptoms have improved, I will be resting at home in El Paso in accordance with the doctors’ recommendations.”

“Because of what was going on in my brain, they had to wake me up every hour on the hour for two weeks.” Dr. Dre thought he was going to die after he suffered a brain aneurysm last January. In an interview on the “Workout the Doubt” podcast, the rapper revealed to host Dolvett Quince that his condition was so bad that doctors actually invited his family in to say goodbye.
“I’m at Cedars-Sinai hospital and they weren’t allowing anybody to come up, meaning visitors or family or anything like that, because of COVID, but they allowed my family to come in,” he remembered. “I found out later, they called them up so they could say their last goodbyes because they thought I was outta here.” Dre spent a full two weeks in the ICU, where it was touch and go the entire time. “Because of what was going on in my brain, they had to wake me up every hour on the hour for two weeks to do these tests,” he recounted. “Basically looking like sobriety tests, like touch your nose, rub your heel on your calf and all that shit.”
Before the rapper was finally discharged, he confirmed his condition to fans, issuing an optimistic statement saying he would be “back home soon.”

YouTube star iJustine on blood clot scare: I was bedridden and nearly died

YouTuber Justine Ezarik — or iJustine — has opened up about finding a rare, life-threatening blood clot in her shoulder, which traveled to her lungs and left her bedridden for several days.
In late March, Ezarik had noticed her arm was feeling numb but it wasn’t until April 1 that the 38-year-old was rushed to the hospital after it started swelling and turning purple. She was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis — a type of blood clot that forms in veins deep in the body — and was immediately admitted as staff began to treat the blood clot.
“I went from (being) perfectly fine to almost (dying) in the course of a few hours,” Ezarik, who has more than 7 millions subscribers on YouTube, told “Today.”
Ezarik was prescribed high doses of blood thinners for her deep vein thrombosis and was later transferred to another hospital for treatment.
[The Post goes on to give a long, detailed account of Ezarik’s ordeal, and the eventual success of her elaborate treatment, with (of course) no question as to whether she was “vaccinated.”

Ezarik said doctors found a rib that was set in a way that “pinches the vein,” which is what caused her clot to form.
“I do a lot of martial arts and also sword and lightsaber training, and there’s a lot of repetitive arm movements, like circular spinning,” she explained. “Thoracic outlet syndrome is very common among athletes.”
Blood clots in people under 40 are rare — but not uncommon, affecting over 900,000 Americans each year.

Football world reacts to Kirk Herbstreit’s concerning health admission

Longtime college football broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit will certainly have his hands full this football season as he begins his first season of full-time NFL coverage for Thursday Night Football with Amazon along with maintaining his role at ESPN on College Gameday. Many are excited to see a ton of Kirk Herbstreit this football season, but he revealed some concerning health issues that he has gone through this offseason that have many worried about his heavy workload this fall.
He revealed in an interview with the Los Angeles Times on Monday that he dealt with blood clots in his lung this offseason after going to the doctor for some breathing problems. “Your heart arteries are crystal clear, look great,” Herbstreit detailed of the doctor’s diagnosis. “But, you’re not going to believe this: You have clots in your lungs.”
“Somehow they got into my bloodstream, went through my heart and into my lungs,” Herbstreit added. “Once it got into the lungs, it’s like a dead end. They’re in your lungs, but they go through your heart. That’s where people die. And so I was just like, ‘Damn.’”
Many were surprised at the time when he missed ESPN’s coverage of the 2022 NFL Draft, but Herbstreit detailed that these scary health concerns happened around that timeframe in late April.
White Sox fans wish Tony La Russa well after heart issue revealed

Chicago White Sox manager Tony La Russa is out with health issues, and it’s unclear how long he will be out or exactly what’s going on. According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, sources with direct knowledge of the situation reported he is undergoing tests on his heart. The situation began when La Russa had tests done by a cardiologist in Chicago, and it was recommended that he miss Tuesday’s game. It was then further advised after more testing that he see heart specialists. The news is certainly sad to many, and fans are taking to Twitter their sympathy for the oldest manager in MLB.

Three taken to hospital after truck crashes into Lincoln Costco, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A truck’s collision into a south Lincoln Costco sent three to the hospital, police say.
Around 2:28 p.m. on Sunday, officers were sent to the Costco near 14th and Pine Lake after a truck crashed into the building.
When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man who had suffered a medical episode, which caused the crash, police say.
The man along with the 29-year-old and a 1-month-old rear seat passenger were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Toronto ferry back at full capacity after vessel that crashed returns to service

The City of Toronto says a Toronto Island ferry that crashed at the downtown terminal and injured a dozen people last weekend will resume regular service today. In an email statement, the city says the vessel’s return means the ferry fleet is once again operating at full capacity and on its regular schedule.
The city said Tuesday that Transport Canada gave clearance for the ferry after a comprehensive inspection, and a final series of checks was to be performed before it returned to service.
The city is co-operating with a safety review by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, and an internal city investigation is also underway. Police say the crash happened at around 5 p.m. on Saturday as the boat approached the terminal with more than 900 people on board. The cause of the crash is not yet known. Twelve people sustained minor injuries and five were taken to hospital for treatment, though none of the injuries were deemed serious. Mandeep Mashiana, who was on board the ferry when it crashed, said the impact was enough to knock passengers off the stairs where they were standing while waiting to disembark.

Gómez Palacio police help a taxi to get to the Red Cross; passenger had a heart attack

The passenger of a taxi felt bad when suffering symptoms of a heart attack, so they requested support from the Municipal Police of Gómez Palacio to quickly reach the Red Cross clinic where they treated him. Elements of the police unit were intercepted at the intersection of Hidalgo Avenue and Centenario Street in the downtown sector of the city of Gómez Palacio, Durango, where they were informed that a male person with serious symptoms of heart illness was on board a taxi.
Given the urgency, they decided to escort the Public Service vehicle to the Red Cross facilities using the siren, a situation that allowed the timely arrival so that guard personnel would carry out all kinds of maneuvers to stabilize the person identified as Juan José, 43 years of age, which they indicated has a history of a heart attack that he suffered a year ago. The entry of the affected person who was accompanied by his wife who suffered a strong nervous breakdown due to what happened, was recorded on Thursday at 9:50 p.m., so after being treated, he thanked the elements of the Municipal Public Security Directorate and Citizen Protection, for the support received for the immediate transfer.

Incredible: marathon runner came back from the dead after 22 minutes of cardiac arrest

Last Sunday, during the Buenos Aires Half Marathon, the Chilean athlete Manuela Bugueño fainted while crossing the finish line. She recounted the harrowing episode and recalled that she was “dead 22 minutes” while undergoing cardiac resuscitation. At the age of 30, she came to Buenos Aires to participate in the marathon, with years of experience, testing and preparation for this type of competition. “I’m fine, processing everything. Alive and very grateful. I was dead for 22 minutes”, she recounted in an interview, in which she what happened in the Buenos Aires Half Marathon. A shocking testimony.
Last Sunday, the runner Manuela Bugueño fainted after crossing the finish line. Her mark was 1h 28m. From then on, she does not remember any more, until the moment she woke up, after the quick attention of the organization’s medical team. “I have been running for more than 10 years and I have been running longer distance for about five years now. I had already run a half marathon and I had never done it”, said the young athlete. She was able to reconstruct the last moments before she went black. “I crossed the finish line, I fainted. If the entire emergency team, who were in charge of this, had not been there, I would not be telling this. This is true, because it was all very fast, a very good team, they gave me very good compressions, a very good job” Bugueño maintained.
She is now hospitalized, stabilized and with all the necessary care, at the German City Hospital. “I am really very grateful because I owe them more than life,” the runner said excitedly. About her current state, she said: “The electroencephalogram does not show any neurological lesion and, so far, the heart is normal in all the studies,” she concluded.

UFO farewell tour cancelled after Phil Mogg suffers heart attack

UFO singer Phil Mogg has suffered a heart attack, leading to the cancellation of the final leg of the band’s Last Orders European tour. During surgery, Mogg had stents placed into two arteries. The run of farewell shows was due to kick off at the De Casino in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, on October 15, and climax with a final show at the Fuzz Club in Athens, Greece, on October 29.
In a statement, the band say, “A few days ago, frontman Phil Mogg suffered a heart attack. The British singer extraordinaire has already undergone surgery. Yesterday, on Thursday September 1st, 2022 – after having performed several detailed examinations in the past days – the doctors pronounced a strict performance ban for Mogg until further notice. His rehabilitation therapy will be starting in about six weeks. According to the doctors, it is not yet possible to give any concrete statements about the duration and scope of the treatment.”
Mogg also released a statement via UFO’s Facebook page, saying, “I have just got back from my doctors, and obviously asked amongst other things my resuming work, playing, touring, etc. She said most definitely not, unless you want another heart attack. So there it is, I have to go on a rehabilitation program which starts in about six weeks and lasts for six weeks. Three months more or less. I certainly didn’t want to bow out in this fashion, as I am sure you chaps didn’t.”

On the Ringlaan, a 64-year-old man from Zonhoven had a serious fall with his bicycle around 9.20 am this morning. Passers-by who saw this happening alerted the emergency services. The quartet singer Magui Olave [33] is recovering after suffering a severe decompensation that she suffered in the last few hours. Drama touched on last Tuesday on the beach of San Sostene, in the province of Catanzaro, where a man was taken ill. The lifeguard Maria Aversa, from her position, immediately noticed that the man, intent on talking to a friend, had collapsed to the ground. The lifeguard intervened by placing the victim in a supine position, giving him a heart massage. The man regained consciousness and when the ambulance arrived he was entrusted to the doctors who diagnosed him with a heart attack.

It seems a miracle that there were no other injuries and a devastating crash was avoided. Shortly before 13.30 today, Monday 29 August, the driver driving the Bus of Autoguidovie of the urban line number 3 was struck by a serious illness while driving. The public transport arrived from via Adolfo Ferrata direct to via Ettore Tibaldi, but did not stop or slow down to give way to the cars that were already at the roundabout coming from via Abbiategrasso. The abrupt braking of the motorists avoided the impact with the bus that continued its run by knocking down a stake in the signs at the roundabout. The motorists immediately realized that the bus driver was slumped on the steering wheel, apparently unconscious.
The driver, a 57-year-old man, was transported with urgency to the nearby Policlinico San Matteo, in very serious condition due to the illness that struck him while he was driving. The local police of the Municipality of Pavia also intervened on the spot.

So much fear yesterday for a girl who fell ill in the sports area of Salvaterra. It was around 12.30 when the 27-year-old – who was practicing sports – felt ill. The alarm was immediately given to 118 who sent an ambulance to the scene together with a medic. Once on the spot, the medical staff gave her first aid and then urgently transported the young woman to the Santa Maria Nuova hospital in Reggio with a very serious code.
