United Against Existence

One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.

J.R.R. Tolkien, Lord of the Rings

Guest post by Robert Gore at Straight Line Logic

Middle Earth had its Mount Doom, into which the One Ring of Power could be tossed, ridding that evil from J.R.R. Tolkien’s fictional setting. Real Earth is not so fortunate, but in all other aspects the lessons drawn from his classic apply. It only comes up short in one respect. Tolkien never delved into the psychology of Sauron, Saruman, and the lessor denizens of Middle Earth who lusted after the One Ring’s power, other than to depict the inevitable corruption of the soul their lust produced.

There are two conclusions uncorrupted souls have difficulty accepting, although both experience and logic point uncompromisingly towards them. The first is that those in power and those who lust for it want power for power’s sake, ultimately to destroy and kill. The second is that they want to destroy and kill because they want to destroy existence and kill themselves. We owe the first conclusion to Orwell, the second to Rand. (For a fuller explanation see “The Last Gasp,” Robert Gore, SLL, March 24, 2020.)

This article assumes both conclusions are well-founded and that the second in particular is the key to understanding where the world is now and where it’s going. They offer a realistic assessment of the chances for nuclear Armageddon.

It is no coincidence that the twentieth century witnessed history’s most totalitarian regimes and its bloodiest wars and genocides. By all indications the twenty-first century will extend the connected trends. Power goes hand-in-hand with destruction and death. Governments are based on their capacity to inflict violence; what else can they produce? Rejecting lofty rhetoric and revolutionary rationales, Orwell wrote that: Power is not a means; it is an end. The twentieth century demonstrated that power is a means to inflict incalculable destruction and death. Know them by their fruits—those are the true ends of those who seek and hold power.

Report after report details the injury and death inflicted by the Covid mRNA vaccines, puncturing hollow platitudes and invocations of “Science.” The travesty offers a refresher course we don’t really need: from world leaders down to petty politicians and functionaries, they want to kill us. Those who aren’t killed are to be frightened into compliance with their ghastly and tyrannical edicts, herded like cattle into some other slaughterhouse.

The gelatinous souls who move whatever direction the bowl tilts usually don’t recognize what’s happening until the moment of their execution. Beforehand, a few of the more intellectually adept will argue that the powerful will be limited by their instinct for self-preservation—if they kill too many they’ll end up killing themselves. Perhaps that thought offers comfort, however scant.

But what if the powerful are like those mass shooters whose terror ends only when they turn their guns on themselves? What if mass murder is the means to their desired end: suicide? Someone who kills himself but no one else is to be pitied. Someone who kills innocents before taking his own life perpetrates paramount evil.

. . . . Now he knew that he had wanted Galt’s destruction at the price of his own destruction to follow, he knew that he had never wanted to survive, he knew that it was Galt’s greatness he had wanted to torture and destroy—he was seeing it as greatness by his own admission, greatness by the only standard that existed, whether anyone chose to admit it or not: the greatness of a man who was master of reality in a manner no other had equaled. In the moment when he, James Taggart, had found himself facing the ultimatum: to accept reality or die, it was death his emotions had chosen, death rather than surrender to that realm of which Galt was so radiant a son. In the person of Galt—he knew—he had sought the destruction of all existence.

Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, 1957

Rand pinpointed the core motivation of those who seek power, whose lives are defined by those they subjugate. Regardless of their differing aims, professed justifications, and ideological platforms, the powerful are united against existence. Spoken or unspoken, acknowledged or unacknowledged, they are united by the ultimate evil: to slaughter innocents before their own lives are inevitably extinguished. That puts the prospect of global nuclear war in a whole new light.

How would it play out? Credit Putin and Xi with more intelligence than the cast of cretins running the American empire. It’s a low bar. But are they any less power-driven, any less evil? Russia’s oligarchy and China’s totalitarian dictatorship are, like the U.S. government, organized crime. Angels don’t get to the top of such syndicates, and these two non-angels have set themselves up as rulers for life. Putin’s and Xi’s intelligence are matched by their ruthlessness, which may surpass that of their Western counterparts.

Say the brain trust that masterminded the Nordstream sabotage decides that a low-yield, false-flag nuclear or dirty bomb detonation in Ukraine would accomplish important objectives. They could blame it on Russia, shoring up empire support for the Ukrainians sagging war effort. It would be the perfect excuse to cancel the elections the Democrats are set to lose and perhaps institute martial law. Russia might respond in kind, and the brain trust’s giddy hopes for global nuclear war would be realized. Obvious insanity for most of us, a feature not a bug for the suicidally inclined.

Once the bomb detonated, Putin and Xi would know the U.S. was behind it. They may even know beforehand. Russia has accused Ukraine of planning to detonate a dirty bomb, and the Chinese government has reportedly told Chinese citizens in Ukraine to leave the country. The comfortably numb assumption U.S. defense policy rests upon is that their responses will be proportional to the provocation out of respect for the planet-destroying potential of the U.S. nuclear triad.

What if they’re not? What if Russia and China respond with everything they’ve got, hypersonic missiles—to which the empire has no defense—taking out major cities, infrastructure, industry, and communications and computer networks? And what if the empire’s nuclear response capability has been surreptitiously crippled or eliminated by Russian and Chinese hacking and sabotage? They’re pretty good at that sort of thing.

Here is an urgent plea to anyone within the empire’s power structure who can short-circuit the false flag: check your assumptions. That false flag might not lead to the desired global holocaust, but rather to A RUSSIAN AND CHINESE VICTORY! In either instance you’ll probably be dead, but you can’t take the chance that the Russians and Chinese might win. That would be simply intolerable. Stop the false flag!

A Putin and Xi victory would leave the U.S. as a nuclear wasteland and those two as the world’s rulers—not unipolarity or multipolarity but bipolarity. Of course there’s only one Ring; sharing absolute power sounds like a contradiction in terms. Regardless, a radioactive U.S. and its miserable survivors would be at the very bottom of the pecking order in a world run by one or two totalitarian dictators.

However, the radioactivity from any nuclear attack capable of decimating the U.S. wouldn’t stay confined to the U.S. Russian and Chinese hacking and sabotage may not prevent every U.S. bomb from landing in those countries. Theirs would be the Pyrrhic victory to end all Pyrrhic victories if fallout extinguished everyone. Assuming the powerful—American, European, Russian, Chinese and globalist—are indeed murderously suicidal, united against existence, that outcome is not just a nontrivial possibility; it’s more likely than not.

In which case only God can save humanity. Let us hope in his justice, compassion, and wisdom he gives our species, woefully deficient in all three, one more chance.

It is very well known that Biden, the Demented Fool is just a puppet on some strings, as he confessed on camera
that he signs whatever is put in front of him to sign without reading it as he could care less about the country.

The war push is by the Obama-installed maximum neocon warmonger Victoria Nuland, owned by the MIC, who was the front for the Obama / Biden regime change there in 2014, to use their guy they installed for the money laundering to send them cash to get the kickback to the Obama-Biden crime syndicate fronted by Hunter.
Biden is on camera TWICE boasting about “If you do not fire the prosecutor investigating Hunters crimes, I will not send the next BILLION dollars over”. Obviously, they did and he then sent the cash over.

Thank you Robert Gore for making it “real” again after the endless stream of RINO-worshiping bullshit from that Satan-knob sucking POS Kunstler.
FACTS:
100 pct of Dems and 99 pct of Repubs worship the following:
– ‘killing-Donbas-citizens-with-Nazis-must-continue-or-WW III is a MUST’,
– ‘endless bailouts of the SIFI banks for quadrillions in losses on derivatives that are not worth the paper you wipe your ass with are REQUIRED to kill the poor-blue collar -middle class’, and –
– deep-state-partner monopolies must censor and de-monetize anyone who is not a willing slave to this 4th Reich Nazi system until NO ONE is courageous enough to speak.
If you think some transgender-promoting, Muslim, game show host named OZ (if mail-in-fraud cunt Chapman even allows him his win) is going to save you from that satanic shit you are either too stupid for words or evil beyond reckoning.

Long ago, on this site, I called out Orange Hair’s betrayal of his base with deep state cunt appointments like Barr and Nielsen and EVERYONE.
100 pct correct.

if you track it, I called the 2020 election steal by county and precinct way in advance .
100 pct correct.

And last week I called out RINO-worshiping Kunstler this week for sucking up to deep state cunts REPUBs as ‘our saviour’.

And all hell broke loose. The usual ‘my dick size is bigger than yours’ self-worship shit, and a ton of down-votes on a site that should have at least a few people who don’t apologize for evil or have their head up their ass.

The more I state the obvious (and am proven right after the fact) the more I get a flood of down votes on THIS site (which is supposed to have people above 100 IQ and with a moral compass).

Interesting data.

Do you really think hating the messenger is gonna save you from your delusions and the shit storm that is coming?

The reason i saw that shit coming is that I never gave a fuck about ‘peer pressure’.
I don’t give a fuck about what the ‘cool kids’ (who sell satanic suicidally stupid shit) think.
The truth is still the truth.
Are you too clueless to understand that?

If so, down-thumbing completely irrelevant folks like me won’t save you from from getting fucked by what is coming.

Why is that so hard to understand?

The truth is, accurate forecasts (always in hindsight, no matter what you thought you knew), never provide a window on truth.

Prophetic visions or straight-line predictions aren’t about human nature, not truth. The truth shared by many if not most, is that irrelevant folks alway care what the ‘cool kids’ think or they wouldn’t opine on it it. Every one of us is irrelevant except to those who love us.

Down-votes/thumbs don’t necessarily mean disagreement. Around here, one gets their ears chuffed for no good reason, but usually because people think you’re an arrogant prick.

My guess is some of their low lieing fruits will be green lit for assassination by their agents. Those deaths then being blamed on the political far right, will be met with 24hr calls by the media for the immediate disarming of, and round up of all dissenters from the leftwing regime, it’s mainstream propaganda. Then the subsequent violence these raids cause being justification for regional, martial law, national curfews, and or election suspensions. But here it is:

The(sic) hated Jews because they were just Jewish. There are people in Israel that reject Zelensky for his wife is Christian and his children are baptized. He became Jewish when asking for money from Israel.

Hmmm. The(y) hated Jews because they were just Jewish. [next sentence] There are people in Israel that reject Zelensky (because) his wife and children are baptized (!!paraphrased). He ‘became’ Jewish (to ask) money from Israel. (‘Just Baptized?’) (‘Just Money?’)

Poor Ukrainians. They hated the Jews “just because they were Jewish.” Never-mind the bolsheviks, the Holdomor, Khazaria, or the fact that their land has been pillages and raped by every nomadic people and army that every came close to their ever-changing borders. Mongols, Poles, Germans, Tartars, Slavs, Roma, Romans, American Politicians and their offspring. The Ukrainians have so much reason to hate – but not the Jews. That, of course, is simply irrational. They’ve obviously been radicalized by an ancient website or two.

Good thing that Zelensky came along to convert and get these po’ folks some good ol’ USA dolla’s! Such introspection and forgiveness in a Modern Politician/media creation.

China, perhaps, wants U.S. farmland not to be radioactive. Rather, the U.S. could feed China inasmuch as China cannot feed its own people which could start a revolution. It is pretty simple.

All of us basically want more than the next guy. It is part of fallen nature.

If someone has more than you, you feel deprived and envious. You want more. You feel that if you have less, you ARE less.

But we now live in times where we basically have every thing we could possibly want.

All of Maslow’s Hierarchy has been achieved. You can get affirmation and personal fulfillment by posting on the internet. Before that, there are only so many steaks you can eat, only so much porn or promiscuity, only so many drinking binges or drugs your body can take.

So just about the only thing that one does not have is the power of life and death. To be a god, you must be able to give life and give death. So far, giving life is pretty much beyond us (except the traditional, patriarchal method that implies un-god-like responsibilities).

So it is death. If we are to become gods, we must have the power of death over people. And, from the ghetto of the inner city, to the ivory tower of think tanks, from the sterile rooms of medical clinics to the hallowed halls of politics, from the sodium lights of the media, to the diesel stench and day old coffee the military, including the real/fake of hollywood and social media, we want to have the power to kill people, to make them suffer, to cause pain.

Death is cheap.

Killing makes us powerful, important, and not-to-be-ignored. (cue the boiled bunny from Fatal Attraction)

The only folks that avoid this are those who are humble, let Jesus into their life, and are satisfied with less, no matter how much their neighbor has.

Your genitalia, your stomach, your brain, your time, your energy, your health, even your existence in this plane – all of these have their limits.

The only thing that is limitless is your ego. That is an abyss that can never be satisfied, no matter how many die or are discarded.

Agreed, there are those among us that are not simply happy with success, even ludicrous levels of success. It’s not enough that they win the game, they need you and I to loose the game, fail and die, to feel they’ve succeeded. It is this level of greed that is the same evil that Sauron represents in LOTR. The kind of evil that is only satiated with the destruction of those they feel are their inferiors, who are in fact the greatest threat to them in numbers.

I don’t think these people are suicidal. I think they are the people that want to open the gates of hell because they are stupid enough to believe they can control the evil that would pour through. They think they would survive the apocalypse and be rid of all the “useless eaters”. They are anti-human and desire the post-humanism that trans-humanism leads to.

Ultimately, their post-humanist utopia is to merge with machines and have their egos live forever in their robot brains, never being satiated… think the Cylon race from BSG, and immortality via backups.

They are anti-human and desire the post-humanism that trans-humanism leads to.

This is where those who are deeply involved in the transgender issue miss the mark. Transgender narratives are merely the vehicle to desensitize us to what is REALLY the goal: transhumanism, the merging of man with machine and the eventual total submersion of what we commonly think of as human traits.

Everything done has been with the idea to desensitize us to this end goal. “Toleration and acceptance” of diversity has a much warmer ring to it than “we are going to chip you so that you will be what we would like you to be.”

While it is a battle that I am glad is being fought for the many children being sucked into this hellscape of transgender ideology, we should never lose sight that what they have in mind is well beyond any concerns of gender. Why would automatons need to be gendered?

“The only folks that avoid this are those who are humble, let Jesus into their life, and are satisfied with less, no matter how much their neighbor has.”

I’m glad that you added this exception, Anon, as I was hoping that you were aware of these folks. With self discipline we can be content with what we have, no matter how little. Gratitude for the small blessings and contentment can give us a better attitude towards life, which should lead to some happiness. A better outlook could lead to showing more love towards others, as Jesus commanded.

Other than that exception, I think that you are correct. The most evil among us are greedy for more power. They get off on someone begging for the torture to stop, begging for their life to be spared.

Some may protest that they themselves could never be so evil, yet they are foaming at the mouth over Roe v Wade, outraged that mothers might not be allowed to kill their own children before birth. Sometimes their limbs are torn off, sometimes their brain is sucked out of the back of their heads, sometimes the blood is sucked out of their hearts while they are still alive in order to culture vaccines in.

Those who desire to be a god, and to make life or death choices for others are the most evil and wicked among us. May they receive the judgment that they so rightly deserve.

I would only pose the question at what point do you disbelieve in nuclear power?

Of course, reality is that which is not affected by belief. An airplane flies whether or not one believes in the Bernoulli equations. Gravity keeps us from flying into space whether we believe it or not.

The letters you see on your electric screen are possible only because of the existence of the Fundamental Electrostatic Force (which is the same phenomenon as the Weak force just at different scale). The words are there whether you believe this force exists or not.

This Force drives ALL chemical reactions and ALL Fission reactions. Now, the Strong Force is less clearly evident, but without it the nuclei of ever atom in your body would accelerate apart because of the aforementioned Weak (Electrostatic) Force. The Strong Force allows (created) Fusion reactions.

These things exist whether I believe in them or not. They exist whether the government lies to us or not (it does little else).

Put together a penchant for lying and a mindset hellbent on destruction with the evident reality of the Weak and Strong nuclear force. What do you get? It is by far the most likely case that Nuclear bombs very much exist and are under at least indirect control of some malevolent psychopaths.

BTW, NASA landed men on the Moon SIX times. AND they told endless lies about it. The evidence clearly supports this. Why do both? Because, as the Article succinctly states…We are a ridiculous species in many ways.

The hole in the soul must be filled. Greed and vanity chases money and prestige. When that doesn’t satisfy, other addictions, like sex, come into play. But, once bored with that, power is, indeed, the one ring to rule them all. But even that is not enough until, finally, obliteration becomes their ultimate indulgence.

…a low-yield, false-flag nuclear or dirty bomb detonation in Ukraine would accomplish important objectives. They could blame it on Russia, shoring up empire support for the Ukrainians sagging war effort. It would be the perfect excuse to cancel the elections the Democrats are set to lose and perhaps institute martial law.

That has crossed my mind, too. In February 2020, Operation Covid was used to steal a presidential election. Therefore, it would not be too large of a leap to imagine how Russia’s February 2022 invasion into Ukraine could, similarly, be deviously exploited to illicitly influence (or forestall) the forthcoming midterms.

Most of the time I just ponder Adam Smith’s quote “There is a great deal of ruin in a Nation.”

Far more that I could ever have imagined.

“…everything just kinda goes on with no booms.”

We’ve been in a state of emergency at least since 1933. The emergencies keep on being declared and never end. Hardly anyone knows what the word emergency actually means any more. Being in a state of emergency has become so normalized that hardly a one has the presence of mind to band together with others and insist that the charade be brought to an end. We need those numbers in order to be effective, but their minds are held captive by the enemies of humanity.

People laugh when I tell them a US Senate subcommittee proved that we have been living in an environment devoid of constitutional protections since 1933. They have never heard of the Church Committee of 1972(?) on the ongoing state of emergency that every D and R has authorized in every administration since.

I don’t know if that committee’s findings are still available as a US government print publication, but I read a copy of it in a public library around 2005 so it was still in circulation then.

You want to know how de facto wars are waged with no congressional debate, let alone agreement? Every time you’ve ever asked yourself, “How can they do that?”, the answer is they declared an emergency in 1933 and it never went away.

They confiscated gold using the Trading with the Enemy Act of 1917 word for word. The difference was the first time was used against Germany, the follow-up used against Americans.

The federal government has been a rogue organization and criminal enterprise for a long time. It is only now that the props have been removed, the curtain parted and the brick wall exposed, as Frank Zappa so perceptively put it.

I really loved the headline, as it compresses the absolute key question into three words.
But Robert, can’t you try to be a little less ‘I know it all’ in your formulations of underlying key concepts?

“We owe the first conclusion to Orwell, the second to Rand.”
Ludicrous. Maybe you owe it to them as you understood it from their writings, but if you really had an open mind, you would see those are two core ideas philosophy had been struggling with since the start [of philosophy], and I’m pretty sure those ideas are for example conveyed in the Bible somewhere.

“Russia’s oligarchy and China’s totalitarian dictatorship are, like the U.S. government, organized crime.”
Because the [Western] MSM told you so… {/facepalm}

That’s mostly fear porn, with a very unspecific ‘answer’ at the end.
I really don’t care what the exact reason will be for starting nuclear WW3; I stated here before that I now put the likelihood at around 50%, over the next decade or how long it takes for the US to truly accept their loss of unipolar power.

Robert, you described nicely the evil side and it’s “motivations”, but you haven’t event tried to describe the antidote.
The antidote is a people who have a common, agreed-upon highest value, one which if taken to the extreme is higher than yourself (i.e. in the most extreme cases that highest value is higher than the value of your own life.)
Note: recognition of what is such a highest value can be achieved with or without religion, although the latter can be helpful.

In the West today -and for a majority [in the West] already since the early 20th century-, almost everybody doesn’t even seriously consider that there could be any value higher than yourself, so they don’t even start looking for a worthy one.
And that is the underlying explanation why “the twentieth century witnessed history’s most totalitarian regimes and its bloodiest wars and genocides.”

That understanding needs to return [towards a true, non-gnostic* highest value.]
And it will, either with societal collapse and/or all-out nuclear war, or without.

The entire existence of life on this planet rests upon the equation of growth=decay=growth.

We live in a closed system, it understands perfectly how to maintain itself absent human aid. And yet we cannot stop ourselves from pitching in.

Human beings are unique as a species because they are the only animal that appears capable of replicating the equation behaviorally. Some people exist as avatars of creation, beauty, light and vigor, others as forces of degeneracy, decay, decline and destruction.

I don’t fully understand our purpose anymore than anyone else, but I can’t help but notice this schism and I sense that like everything else in Nature there is a purpose. Nature uses its resources as It must and we serve It whether we grasp our significance in this play or not.

Very insightful Robert, you’ve summed up a great deal of the disconnected bits into a coherent narrative that rings true.

I don’t know if this will be helpful but…

When you read such widely diverse visionaries as Christian mystic Jacob Boehme and Neoplatonist leading light Plotinus, and still see the common thread running through them, I believe there may be something worth exploring. And that “something” is human beings are a balance. Our purpose in the physical creation is to balance the ongoing process of life here.

It is completely consonant with Jesus’ observation, “Greater things than these shall ye do.” It is entirely in keeping with Lao-Tzu’s conception of the ordered and inexorable working of balance in all things naturally. And in cosmology after cosmology, either men or gods play the role of those who make things right when the world has gone horribly wrong.

This sense of personal responsibility for adding some small measure of balance, of good, to the world in each moment is almost completely absent from modern sensibilities. Personal gain, self aggrandizement, the accumulation of goods and influence over others for purely egocentric satisfaction is almost triumphant…almost.

When we begin to think in terms of every tiny positive effort we make as contributing to stabilizing the entire world, our perspective changes. Wherever we are, whatever we are doing, we can do it in a way that makes the world more whole, more healthy, if we so choose.

It does not ask us to be perfect, to be heroic in the popular sense. It just asks us to make the choice in every moment to be a fulcrum that swings to the positive, to help obliterate some measure of the world’s darkness through the light we choose to offer. Not much to ask, but what a tremendous responsibility to take on.

One thing I strong disagree with in Orwell’s 1984 is seen in many conversations concerning tyranny. And that is the idea of a boot stamping on a face, forever. There is no “forever” that has ever existed. The nature of the creation is cyclical. While we view the current landscape as dystopian to the America we remember, it may not be the final ending of that vision but rather the ending of the lack of seeing the truth in what America has become.

Psychopathic leaders have had a rather long run in human history. Is it too much to hope that it is THEIR cycle that is ending…and that we can and must do our part to bring about that better balance?

Sirhan Wrap, “. . . make the choice in every moment . . .” would seem to keep one unbalanced and on edge so that conflict must be the condition at every moment. “Do I do this or do that?” Krishnamurti spoke about “choiceless awareness.” Aristotle told us that virtue must be learned in youth so that it becomes a habit. No choice at all. Parents must display virtue to the child. But there’s the rub.

It is in one’s self-interest to do the right thing. This reality is very hard for people as adults to discover, yet once discovered it seems so simple and conflict free. No choosing at all. Do the right thing automatically as one sees fit. Someone swinging a hammer with one hand onto the other hand is in pain. You, seeing this, can point it out, but until the swinging is seen by the swinger himself the pain persists. Insight is required as an adult to get out of the trap, because few parents are virtuous themselves. Once you see the hammer in your hand this insight makes it impossible to keep on hammering.

How do you come upon this insight as as adult? Start with the fact that you are in pain and that you cannot see what you are. Somewhere in the Bible it tells of the person who discovers what he is and immediately feels that he is the greatest sinner in the world. From that insight comes fearlessness in examining what one is. Never again will there be any hesitancy in seeing what one is. At this point doing the right thing is all about choiceless awareness and it’s self-evident that doing the right thing is in one’s own self-interest. You have seen without a shadow of doubt that you are capable of doing that which the most evil person has done. What saves you from that horror is that you have seen it in yourself and once seen you cannot swing that hammer as you once did. You are free.

Excellent comment. And for those who are comfortable with the tradition, early Taoism is filled with the idea that the highest virtue, the most effective cause of goodness in the world, is that which lack self-consciousness of its goodness. It just becomes what it is, choiceless awareness that we act upon without hesitation.

One of the reasons why I contributed to this site is because the level of those who comment here are so often worth the price of admission many times over.

I have sometimes wondered if we unwittingly play a role in Nature’s perfect balance. An expanded growth and decay curve than what we think of as the “natural” world.

Maybe even our infinite egos and hubris are simply a meant-to-be part of a grander scheme.

Terrifying if true….more so if it is not and we are simply left to our own devices.

The topic of balance, what it is, can it be achieved, our role etc. is fascinating. All IMHO: balance is not to be confused with equilibrium. Balance is a dynamic condition that is changing in the cosmos moment to moment. The physical universe REQUIRES imbalance because it requires polarities to manifest creation, i.e. otherness and the individuation of all things. These are the 10,000 things Lao-Tzu speaks of.

So you cannot even conceive of a universe as we know it without imbalance. But as we all may observe, imbalance can become so pervasive that there is an inevitable correction that restores it. In finance, we may understand it as, “the cure for high prices is high prices.” There is a natural corrective principle working in all things.

The really interesting bit is how we fit in. My current model–and one that I think holds up well–is that we are critical in establishing balance, righting unbalance and in fact in the (mostly subconscious) process of learning to be co-creators with what I call the One Law, or God. We are learning how to be that which sustains the universe. “Know ye not, ye are gods?”

And the cool part is, you can’t do that with the individual ego at the center of the process. It has to be done in an unselfconsciously altruistic and universal way. And as that part of our nature is slowly manifested, we become more god-like in our choices, eventually to merge into that One Law willingly, joyfully and as full participants in the Creator’s work/play.

That’s my story, and I’m stickin’ to it…for now : )

Maybe even our infinite egos and hubris are simply a meant-to-be part of a grander scheme.
Just an alternative perspective here: “meant to be” in that individuation is sine qua non of any reality that is not an oceanic, undifferentiated existence. Egos also required. The hubris is perhaps the inevitable overcompensation that happens in Nature, which is also corrected by Nature.

I conceive of God as the One Law in that it subsumes everything, in all worlds, at all levels of Reality. It is the blueprint for how things work everywhere, from the quark zoo to galaxy clusters and beyond. It is not personal because our individuation or personhood is a temporary stage of the process and one that I find revolting to attribute to the Cause of All Things.

I have studied in these topics for 50 years and what I find to be my rock solid foundation is that what we are at this moment is a poor shadow of what we are in potentis. We are getting help, or grace if you prefer, every moment of every day. What we choose to do with that gift is where free will, and the desire to put ourselves above others, shows itself.

Thank you for your comments. It is my belief that these questions are among the most important we should be exploring, and yet one rarely comes across any discussion about the deeper dimension of humanity’s role in sustaining universal balance.

Just re-read these comments and I’ll take a little time to spew some thoughts that occur.

First, it must be true that even balance cannot exist without imbalance, and I like the idea of imbalance being necessary for creation. The idea is subtly different than that of chaos.

Now at a different level of analysis, specifically since you mention “the cure for high prices is high prices.” Which is of course correct in a negative feedback environment. However, I think that is a fundamental change no one is discounting or maybe no one can. From time to time, there is a wholesale change in environment to positive feedback loops–ie “high prices beget higher prices.” This is the process that Tainter describes in “The Collapse of Complex Societies.” This is what brings down empires. A downward spiral that cannot be reversed.

Now, of course, from a wider view, these periods of tumult simply become larger cycles of creative destruction, or if you prefer creative imbalance. Perhaps helpful, and even healthy, to think of in these terms, but it does not diminish the immense human suffering during such times.

Now, the grand scheme “One Law” question. I’d like to believe it and at my best I generally do. At some more nihilistic moments, I wonder if we are all simply slaves to our chemicals, just pure dopamine and limbic response. There are plenty out on the streets for whom those chemicals are entirely and irrevocably in charge. Still somehow most of us are able to manage (I do not say transcend nor control) these chemicals, which in and of itself is a miracle. The New Atheists would have us believe this is simply due to pure complexity and maybe throw in some quantum uncertainty. Cut the Spirit right off at the knees. I see their point but it’s wrong.

I think there is room for every existential thought anyone has ever had to be wrong…and not just a little, but almost entirely wrong. This existence is grander and stranger than we can begin to imagine. Yet imagining, thinking, believing are all somehow vital and grand in their own right.

Something like that, anyway.

Regardless of culture, humans are born into (for lack of a better description) a game. We enter the world with fixed limitations and rules. The variants of the game are the players. Liken it to an natural athlete, there are those who will seek to win the game at all costs. If there is lesson to be learned from the sited authors, it is that the game remains the same, there are merely different players. These authors were not clairvoyant, they simply saw the game from the review mirror(history). They extrapolated the future based on the events of the past or how the game was played prior. It is the repetitive nature of the game that gave insight to how the future games will playout. Like with all games there is conclusion or a final game. We who are living in the current game could very well be playing that final game(the end of the season). If mankind can survive, the next season will continue with new “all star athletes”. The ambitions of men are only limited to their imaginations and their will to carry it out. Simultaneously, that may be our greatest strength and our greatest weakness.

Rinse and Repeat.

The ring, could say, is the sweet metaphor-analogy-simile science of this human existence … united … against life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness. I invoke the rope-a-dope enclosure often … along with the syncopating hopium of hanging together for different outcomes.

Back in boxing days of youth, there was a guy on the team who would spar with *anybody* – even much older, heavier guys.

First two impressions: guy has a lot of heart, if not brain, & coach is a goddamn fool.

(Well, coach was from NJ or some damn place like that, invasive species-transplanted down to Carolina, so he seemed fool outta water just as matter of course.)

I wound up in the same HS as all-heart-no-brain one year. One of those bussing-integration schools. In fact we rode the same bus. Which was mostly blacks. And one of those blacks picked a fight with heart. Tried to, anyway. Even slapped him right across the face. Heart did nothing.

Many years later I found myself in Chicago. In the pits. (That are within that pit.) Guys, some gals, standing around in circles, concentric Matryoshka circles, yelling & screaming at each other to buy/sell, some for their own accounts, but mostly “on behalf” of accounts for whom the floor “provides middleman services.”

There weren’t too many blacks in the pits. None, that I can remember. But, in fact, there were plenty there that fulfilled the role of the black heart attack just the same.

People are trained-inculcated* to believe that the ring is legitimate. And that it legitimizes. It isn’t. It doesn’t. It’s crooked. It’s not a smooth circle. It’s a serrated noose.

And that’s on top of the fact that most, the vast majority, are in no way qualified to step into the ring with the adversary that created the ring.

The ring isn’t about contest. The ring is sacrificial altar & abattoir. And outsiders – the club you ain’t in – are sacrificial offerings.

Willing sacrificial offerings. Resigned sacrificial offerings.

In “therapeutic”-speak: codependent. Abuse-lovers. Who almost w/o fail turn around ~ & round∞ ~ & kick whatever dogs they can take “it” out on.

*But don’t turn this around to deflect responsibility. The training-inculcation serves merely to maximize the inherent reflex to subordination, to losing, to being sacrificed that resides in most hearts of darkness. Cowardice is the nearly all-encompassing norm. At “the top,” the so-called elites, are the purest expression of cowardice, so that gang does everything it can to make all the lesser cowards’ odds of “life, liberty” attainment infinitesimal … & to maximize “pursuit of” their own scaly tails. Diversion & distraction & plausible deniability are spoonfuls of sugar that help the “learned” helplessness go down.

(Ultimately it *is* death wish (or death drive), all around – not just among the freaks atop the pyramid scam. That core motive recognition precedes Rand. Almost certainly precedes Freud, too (who borrowed the idea from another smart Russian woman, Sabina Spielrein, who was murdered by Nazis in Death Wish II), which is probably where I first came across it– not counting Charlie Bronson, of course.)
