I doubt there is another era in the history of western Civ when the forces in-motion acting on society were so mystifying to those acted upon. And isn’t it especially galling that this is so in an age after rational scientific practice had decoded so many of nature’s secrets? Did that project somehow fail in the end? Has the Enlightenment been defeated? How has this trapped us like frogs being boiled haplessly in our own pond-water?
I have reduced these forces to four obvious streams of the sheerest seemingly evil fuckery, which is to say nefariously managed events meant to harm us. They are surely all related in some way. Let’s try to de-mystify them to understand what we’re up against.
First: Covid-19. How is it that we don’t know for sure how this organism came into the world, or understand what ensued after it did? Answer: the people who caused it to happen in the Wuhan lab have been busy covering their asses for three years, and successfully so. Yet we know exactly what Anthony Fauci, Francis Collins, Peter Daszak, Ralph Baric and others did. The paper trail in correspondence and patents alone is clear. We just can’t seem to do anything about it.
We don’t know why they did it yet, too, but there are plausible guesses. Maybe Dr. Fauci wanted to cap his long, checkered career with a final heroic triumph: the introduction of world-saving mRNA vaccines — incidentally, a great financial boon to himself and the pharma industry he secretly served. Like everything else Fauci worked on for forty years, this experiment ended in disaster: a Frankenstein disease that persists in the population and vaccines that maim and kill people. How did Fauci and company get away with it? Here’s how:
Two: Government’s war on its own citizens. I’d date this for the sake of simplicity to DOJ’s and FBI’s campaign to defenestrate Donald Trump starting in 2016 for the crime of winning an election. What began as the Russia collusion prank morphed into RussiaGate, another ass-covering extravaganza in which public officialdom gave itself blanket permission to lie about everything it was doing. The likes of James Comey, Andrew McCabe and Barack Obama’s girl squad in the White House — to name just a few of many participants — also managed to hook in the mainstream news media under the supposition that they were the good guys fighting a disgusting, pussy-grabbing supervillain, which disposed the news media to go along with all the FBI and DOJ lies, and also end up in an endless loop of ass-covering they are still locked into.
Bottom line: all involved saw that there was no accountability for their wicked deeds and lying about them, and that became an all-purpose license for everyone in public life to lie about everything and anything ever after — including Dr. Fauci and his colleagues, who watched RussiaGate roll out for four years before the debut of Covid-19. This license to act wrongfully and lie about it extends, by the way, to the epic election mischief carried out programmatically by the Democratic Party’s Lawfare arm in 2020 and 2022, and the installation of a fake president.
Three: Wokery, the Marxist campaign to disorder society in order to overthrow existing institutions and replace them with a utopian dictatorship of the intersectionally oppressed — also known as The Revenge of the Losers. Its primary tactic is to normalize mental illness. Wokery is often described as a new kind of religion, but that’s mainly because all of its proffers and principles are irrational, as is characteristic of all religions. Also, as in many religions, Wokery in practice is preoccupied with coercion and punishment — which is natural for a movement based on vengeance — and often to a sadistic degree. It laughs at the idea of redemption. Its adversaries are never forgiven, only dealt additional punishments for asking.
The mystery here is how Wokery was incorporated into the operating system of the Democratic Party. The answer is the party needed something to replace its erstwhile corpus of organized industrial workers, gone with the winds of Globalism, and so it valorized the various categories of the mentally ill, the permanently downtrodden, and sundry persons who had become economic hostages to its system of payments and grants. High above that ragtag-and-bobtail of crazies reigned an aristocracy of the so-called cognitive elite, people of unquestioned virtue, college professors, the creative class, the credentialed echelon — super-busy signaling their good intentions to their clients to keep them in line.
Wokery, you may have noticed, is also a “religion” dominated by women, and a particular strain of women: those left grossly disappointed by the promises of feminism in its several iterations, that is, the ideal of having brilliant careers minus family and children — producing an implacable, inchoate, and transmissible rage at the world and a fierce wish-to-punish others not so disposed to Woke dogma. So, it’s no surprise that so much of that dogma emanated from the humanities departments of the universities where such careerist feminist intellectuals flocked and marinated in their disappointments. Four, the most mysterious of the four fuckeries: Globalism as represented by the World Economic Forum (WEF) led by the quasi-comical Klaus Schwab. Supposedly — and I can’t endorse this proposition — it is a front for some cabal of exalted international bankers and oligarchs, the proverbial Rothschilds and Rockefellers, Soros and Bill Gates and their various subalterns. There is certainly a lot of money involved and, as the old saying goes, Money talks and bullshit walks. There is also a ton of chatter about this selfsame cabal centering around a Satanic child molestation cult.
I dunno about this, either. Seems plumb cuckoo to me. And yet, how do you explain Jeffrey Epstein’s activities, and how he got it away with all of it, until he was offed right under Attorney General Bill Barr’s nose. How to explain the deification of transsexuals by the folks in-charge of culture and politics? You are dared to condemn such outrageous insults to human hard-wired morality as the Drag Queen Story Hour.
It’s hypothesized that the Satanic sex module is just of a piece with the WEF’s Transhumanism project: to engineer a super-race that will manage and enjoy the perqs of life-on-earth as a previously unseen hermaphroditic genus, and all the performative kink sexuality on display is just a preview of that, to soften us up. More to the point though, is the idea that this WEF elite will rule a planet of lower-order slaves (us), to mine their lithium and mix their drinks. And along with that is the much-heard narrative of the WEF seeking to severely reduce the earth’s current human population. I’m not wholly on-board with believing any of this; just sayin’ it’s all ‘out there’ and, crazy as it sounds, it is hard to explain.
Except in this way. Readers know that I have retailed my personal view of a collapsing techno-industrial society as The Long Emergency. My own conviction is this: that the general apprehension of such an event, now on-going, among the citizenry has generated such terror as to drive society crazy. (Mass Formation is a related interpretation, not necessary to go into here.)
I suppose this has happened to most other civilizations that wobbled and fell. The one best-known to me — because I wrote about it in The City in Mind (2002) — is the psychosis that overcame the Aztecs 1519 to 1521. It is the weirdest story in history that I know of. Aztec civilization was barely two hundred years old. The great city-state of Tenochtitlan had quickly grown to about a million when Hernan Cortes and Company, representing Spain of the Inquisition, marched in. Cortez, in his gleaming steel helmet, was the personification of the Aztecs deity-in-chief, Huitzilopochtli, their sun god, and the theological narrative that went with him — that Huitzilopochtli would return to the world from wherever elsewhere the gods reposed and destroy everything. In fact, that’s exactly what Senor Cortes and his few-hundred soldiers proceeded to do to a million Aztecs and their culture.
But during the two years Cortes sojourned among them, the Aztecs went batshit crazy ramping up their previously modest program of human sacrifice — a few hapless captives now and again — to a fantastic ritual mass bloodbath, cutting the hearts out of hundreds at a time atop their great pyramid to propitiate Huitzilopochtli and persuade him, by such a bloody performance of their devotion, to not end their world. It ended anyway, though another world took its place: Mexico.
This is the kind of periodic human mass insanity that I see in the Four Fuckeries now loose in the world as Western Civ wobbles. The trouble is, having replaced our gods with science, we have no deity to propitiate. Just endless hypotheses of what’s to come.

What if Covid sickness is not caused by an “organism?” What if the first room full of people to get sick all together was zapped with something like an EMP? Observers of such an event would assume an organism was the cause. That was the beginning of the plan to introduce a vaccine that would do the killing off of millions of people fearing the organism that never existed. The people stopped getting the annual flu and instead got Covid. Old people died as usual from the flu but their deaths were named Covid deaths. The vaccine was ready, miraculously, to do all the rest.
In this scenario it becomes obvious that there is a plan to kill off a big chunk of the world’s population. The plan includes the other three “fuckeries” as well, with each pointing to a very big plan that is blindingly obvious.
Tops spin until they wobble and fall over. Then they lie there until someone pick them up and spins them anew.

It is very difficult, and unpleasant, to even try to get into the mind of people that would behave this way. I can easily see the decent into the addictive dopamine cycles of garnering power and needing ever more, coupled with the need for revenge, against well every ting really, existence itself (or God Himself if you prefer.) That story is literally as old as Cain. And, of course, pedophilia is really about power and not lust, although the two can feed endlessly upon one another.
But how does this world not devolve and decay almost immediately. If one is hellbent on decadence and destruction, how can they keep the industries running and the bullshit flowing so flawlessly and inexorably. Evil wears itself out, since it can create nothing but more evil. Is it simply that there is THAT much ruin in the systems built during better times?
Once upon a time, I wrote a (dreadful) novel about the concept of Strategic evil. It’s strange concept evil, I believe, is most fundamentally rooted in selfishness, whereas to act in a strategic manner relies on the service of something greater than oneself.

One other thought I had while reading this have different levels of desires throughout our conscious and unconscious layers, often in direct conflict. I think the Assholes-In-Charge (TPTB, Eliete, etc) think they want to become true masters of all they survey, to be gods and live forever, but what they really want is to burn it all to nothingness and then inhabit the same. Many here–certainly myself included at my worst–think we want it all to burn down, but we really just want to live good, meaningful lives in peace. Perhaps we just recognize the pervasive rot and everything and think with a sigh “soonest begun soonest done.”
I strenuously object to the entire premise. I personally have participated in or directly witnessed literally dozens of different types of fuckery, and I take my fuckery very seriously. It isn’t an occupation, but it’s more than a hobby.

There is no “covid”. Once scurvy was thought to be a contagious disease. Sick sailors were quarantined at port to “prevent the spread.” It’s the terrain, same as it ever was.

We’re friends with a good number of people with similar families- mix of parents and children, same age ranges. We all interact with each other and the community in more or less the same way, go to the same places, shop at the same stores, similar socio-economic situation, same race, etc.etc. The biggest difference between us and them would appear to be, weight and our lifestyle differences.
They are always getting sick or just getting over something or just coming down with something else and we never get so much as a cold.
How would that be possible given the data above if illness were simply passed around from breathing or touching? More importantly, how is it that when we were living much closer to that lifestyle- eating supermarket and fast foods, being stressed out by careers, being overweight, etc. we were always sick too, especially in light of the fact that we were younger then?
That the people pushing ot hardest proved how ignorant and incompetent and careless they were in the past three years with all of their recommendations and directives and appear to be among the most sickly groups of all, why would anyone still accept their expertise at face value?

Some great points, right on the money. Looks like you’re familiar with Cowan’s books, Kaufman, Lanka, Vollman and the Drs. Bailey, Young and Turner-Banks at a minimum along with Firstenburg, Tilden, Hume, etc. So much to “unlearn” and process with critical thought and a truth-seeking perspective.
It is the satanic trifecta of Covid-19 Pharmakia sorcery , Climate change fear mongering and digital Currency working together to bring about depopulation and control over the remaining masses resulting in a One World Government (organized into 10 kingdoms) , One World Religion (to worship the creation rather than the Creator) and One World Currency (to fully control your ability to buy or sell). This will be the reality after the Rapture occurs and I hope and pray you won’t be here to experience the world under the control of the Anti-Christ. That seems a difficult claim to believe. Certainly, he is familiar with events such as the Holodomor and China’s Cultural Revolution? Yet, he offers up the Aztecs as an example of what he calls “crazy” and “the psychosis”. Are these not prime examples of Statolatry as it is just another form of idolatry? Is not the “collapsing techno-industrial society” not an expression of another failed god? Personally, I would include ‘Big Medical/Pharma’ in that techno-industrial grouping, that grouping might be contracted into ‘The Science’.
All cultures are bound by common beliefs and traditions rooted in a belief of a correct view of the world that makes sense to them. It should be mentioned here that there are dissenters and pioneers of a type that seek new knowledge and new vistas but they not necessarily the ‘crazies’ or destroyers. Also, common beliefs are those of an unity not a collection of those who would demand uniformity. The point here is that the society, or culture, is bound by tenants of a belief in a “World View” a conceptual scheme, if you will, that provides an understanding of the world, the elements of both seen and unseen, that provide a vision, a path of proper action and achievement as they see it. This “world view” is not ideological in the political sense.
As to Western Civilization, with all of its heritage of social norms, ethical values, traditional customs, belief systems, even political systems, one would be hard-pressed to exclude the notion that Christian expression has not been central if not the essential expression that has been the elemental foundation. When those values are destroyed so goes the culture, country and all.
So, what is so difficult to explain about that, Mr. Kunstler?
I think what is difficult for Mr. Kunstler, is he doesn’t grasp the basic concept. That your beliefs, wherever and whatever they are, if you take the Aesops Fables view,(ie. names dates and places are irrelevant if there is a common moral to the story) then our morals are aligned. Then we can get along to combat common problems together without pointing fingers to assess blame. These assessments are look back story time, instead of forward thinking solutions for all moral beings. Wouldn’t collaboration on our common moral problems be much better than reminiscing about irrelevant differences?
Sure, compromises can be hammered out, I suppose. For example, if you had a son, say of the age of ten-ish and he comes home after his daily indoctrination, er, instruction in the three ‘wokes’ and tells you that he is a Trans and is going to proceed with medical intervention (not that he needs you permission), what are you going to say? “Well, alrighty son, but remember, we compromised, so make sure the doctor wacks only 1/2 of your penis”?
And that, IMO is why it may turn out to be No compromises and No amnesty, UnCivil war.
I’m not talking about compromises of others who are diametrically opposed to others. But you and I would be able to work together with forward thinking without pointing which one of us believes this or that. We know instinctively together we can go find this “woke” influence and “influence” it together while we prevent your 10 yo from making a stupid choice. Which knowing our morals are aligned I would prevent such actions on the 10 yo even if you were not present. We can work together without compromise on common problems against those that are diametrically opposed our shared morals. Uncivil war is coming, and Kunstler doesn’t know how to decide his side because he can’t see the forest for the individual trees because they may be a scots pine or a scotch pine. We don’t really know one another but I know you’d help my kid and vice versa. Good morals. Not definition differences.
