We covered this story pretty thoroughly when it occurred and even made mention of something coming out of it.
I do remember that the point of origin for the monkeys and the destination were way far apart from the scene of the accident, but then that’s assuming anything they reported was true. It was also the middle of a deep cold spell, they were tropical monkeys and the delivery vehicle looked like a trailer you could rent at Home Depot. No exactly a CDC operation. Reminded me of something from Shipping Wars.
They also swapped out the terms “a quarantine facility” and “a lab” depending on which agency covered the story, but that may just have been crappy reporting. I’ve noticed AP doesn’t even spell check anymore. There was a story this morning and they used the term “in the same vein” but spelled it vain.

Morgan Island, SC (aka Monkey Island) is roughly 3-4 miles from our house. It’s home to a macaque “rookery” (so to speak), where they were raised for medical research. Nancy Mace forced an end to that.
