fact is that it is the only legitimate Constitutional tax. Many of you old folks on here have very little understanding of what you proclaim to support.
The main complaint about previous “fair tax” proposals. That and the fact that everyone has the goal of “revenue neutral” as if the government is entitled to any of our money.
On its face – a single tax rate that EVERYONE PAID – has some appeal. Now, when some clown says they are going to raise taxes or lower taxes, nobody has any idea how that is going to affect them. If someone were to say that the rate is going from 26% to 28%, or to 24%, everyone would know exactly how that will impact them. But the tax will never be equally applied, some things will have enough lobbying support to make them exempt, some will be taxed even higher (liquor, cigs, etc.) and so it will never reach that point. But more importantly, the goal is to bring in the same amount of tax….which is criminal. I favor a national sales tax of 0%, with ALL other taxes wiped away too. Simple. Pay as you go, shut down the federal government, and let a private competitive marketplace of businesses and individuals provide what people actually wish to purchase.
What they are talking would take my taxes from about 10% to about 23%. Great idea? NOT!

I downvoted, because Barney was actually quite safe with guns. He NEVER carried a loaded gun, always had only one bullet in his pocket, and was very conscious about the gun once loaded. Not sure I could come up with an alternative, but dumb Barney isn’t it.
