The latest major food supplier to go up in flames, after decades of food suppliers not going up in flames, is New Zealand’s largest egg producer – after a blaze broke out on Monday, killing around 75,000 hens.
The fire at Zeagold farm had “taken the better part of the day to contain,” according to the company, adding that twelve workers on the site were “unharmed but very distressed.”
Prior to the fire, New Zealand farmers estimated that the country needed another 300,000 hens to deal with a national egg shortage, The Guardian reports.
The spokesperson added that while it was still too early to assess how much the fire would affect the supply chain, “There will be some impact obviously – it’s not a great thing to happen in the middle of a shortage.”
New Zealand has been in the grip of an egg shortage since the start of the year, when it put an end to battery farming. The ban had been in the works since 2012 and battery hen numbers had dropped over time to make up just 10% of overall egg production – but their final outlawing at the start of January has still been enough to jolt the egg supply chain, leaving supermarket shelves empty, shop owners policing tray purchases and big-breakfast lovers bereft.
The shortage has reached the point of contention: one small-town supermarket banned a cruise ship crew from further egg purchases after they cleared the shelves; newspapers have issued advice columns on egg-free baking and tofu scrambles; and in January, the SPCA released an advisory telling New Zealanders not to engage in kneejerk purchases of back yard poultry, after concerns that a rise in amateur chicken ownership would result in the animals not being properly cared for. –The Guardian
“Egg supplies are tight, so this will not assist in any way,” said Michael Brooks, executive director of the Egg Producers Federation.
The fire comes roughly one week after one of America’s top egg suppliers, Hillandale Farms, burned down, killing up to 100,000 chickens.

It has been said many times….
Once is an accident.
Twice is a coincidence.
The third time is enemy action.
And now a message from The Committee of 300 and the Club Of Rome.
” A Document called The First Global Revolution, authored by Alexander King and Bertrand Schneider, on Pages 104-105, it stated,
“In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers of course will be caused by human intervention that will require a global response.”

Like most CNN and MSNBC watchers. It even appears we have one here from the thumbs down you got.
These fires are just coincidence, nothing to see here, please move along…..
Stole my remark.
I am now starting to suspect the talk of ‘avian flu’ resurgence could be engineered toward taking out the remainder of the chickens. So far we have not worried a bit about eggs, having plentiful local supplies.
Montana
Well , thankfully /s/ a brand new Bio-Level-4 Lab is coming online in Kansas

Ya sure ok
No one I know had their large egg farm burn.
Meanwhile, in Maine….
Maine Town Declares Food Sovereignty
Sedgwick, Maine has done what no other town in the United States has done. The town unanimously passed an ordinance giving its citizens the right “to produce, process, sell, purchase, and consume local foods of their choosing.” This includes raw milk, locally slaughtered meats, and just about anything else you can imagine. It’s also a decided bucking of state and federal laws.
From David Gumpert’s coverage:
Arkansas keeps getting closer to that goal. We have a lot of food freedom, but we should have all of it.
Funny because Maine is filled with Subaru driving lefties except the rural areas I guess. They usually go along to get along up there.
Lately I sell shelled, hardboiled eggs for more than a dollar a piece. You should see the sticker shock on some people’s faces.
The blissfully retarded ‘mercan peasants don’t get it and think I’m scamming them or something.
Nah bro… That’s the legit price.
Just wait til the economy really starts slowing down, oh boy!
Up next… Beyond Meat jews do: eggs!
I take it you’re not in the US so where are you?
como estas?
Where was Jacinda when this egg plant fire broke out, hmmm?
Anybody check her hands, for the aroma of petrol, mates?
Then again, if food processing plant security ever catches an arsonist or explosives engineer in the act, subsequent interrogation in all likelihood would reveal he’s on a Soros payroll, via a intermediary conduit.
Klaus, & Billy man boobs, what say you?
Chicken fire pandemic. How about those 10,000 cows that dropped dead all at once from the heat last year?
This famine prep by TLPTB (L=Luciferian) is so obvious to those of us awake.
The Tractor Supply Pride/Purina sabotage looks to be legit to me, I’ve stopped using all commercial chicken feed and mixing my own with goat feed, black sunflowers, horse oats, some cracked corn, and of course they get every single table scrape possible.
I’m done with Tractor Supply (they also support Drag Queen perversions). Back to my local independent Feed Store 100%.
I had planted a lot of Siberian Kale and Rape that just ran out, my girls ate and loved that throughout Dec and Jan. I have the land so I will be expanding my gardens in the spring just for plant based chicken feed.
Just put up more low cost plastic fencing giving them another safe free ranging run in the woods behind their coop.
But alas, no escaping the frigg’in Chemtrails being ramped up over my land.
Just entered a barter deal with a great couple that owns a local Army surplurs store…weekly eggs (below supermarket cost for ammo once a month!) Excited about that…have 23 layers, may get another 5 ASAP.
PULLETS FOR BULLETS!!!
Have you tried growing black oil sunflowers? We are going to try this year.
Growing with no ‘cides, pests consistently eat almost all of mine here in sunflower country but all grains do fine.
Thanks for the input. I am anti-‘cides.
My local farm went from 100+ eggs/day to ZERO. Lasted about a week and now they are back to normal numbers. But the eggs are not right. They are obviously less than a week old (only started laying again a few days ago) but the whites are very runny like old eggs. Tossed the ones I just got as something is still not right.
Going to do without eggs until I get my layers in the spring.
It’s funny, now when I go out to collect eggs it has the feeling of treasure hinting with each egg being worth over 50 cents each, it’s like the fairy tale of the goose that laid the golden eggs, those things are worth real money.
I just hope our layers show up in a few weeks. Everyone is cracking egg jokes, lately.
Soon the government will try to convince us that chickens spontaneously combust.
Crimes against humanity.
Crimes against chickens- they’ve upped their game. Humans are such yesterdays news
Waiting for the day some alert guard or civilian clips one of these spooks setting these fires.
We can hardly keep chickens because of the predators. If you keep out the smaller ones the grizzlies can literally tear down the house (this happened where I was getting eggs after our last batch got eaten). We live in what we call the bear highway.
Thinking of quail cuz they can stay inside. I don’t really like the thought of caged birds but they have bred for this supposedly a thousand years by the Japanese, and we’ll treat EM right. Also fun to breed and hatch etc. Had kind of backed off the idea but now…
CBS block building with a steel door will stop them.
They really don’t like electric wire and they learn real quick.
Obviously you don’t know bears (concrete would probably work, thus the quail). Our neighbor heard a huge roar and went out of his shop to investigate. A grizzly sow with cubs was going through a major electric fence into the orchard. They lived there a long time feasting on fruit, and destroying trees.
Now black bears you could try rubber bullets to run them out, but don’t piss off that one. The FWP shrugs because of course they love orchards but populations are too high.
The horsey people here are freaking out now. I’m going to post back: whatever you do, don’t use horse paste. They won’t get it, but makes me happy.
What’s the horse thing?
“an advisory telling New Zealanders not to engage in kneejerk purchases of back yard poultry”
They are correct. Make sure that you think the keeping of chickens through. Make sure you have the ability to feed, water and shelter the birds so that they produce the most eggs for you. And if keeping them doesn’t work out, you can always eat them.
The NWO government will be doing a lot to keep people from being self sufficient as they, the gov, can’t control people who can care for themselves.
