Distract, Divide and Conquer: The Painful Truth About the State of Our Union

Guest Post by John W. Whitehead

Step away from the blinders that partisan politics uses to distract, divide and conquer, and you will find that we are drowning in a cesspool of problems that individually and collectively threaten our lives, liberties, prosperity and happiness.

These are not problems the politicians want to talk about, let alone address, yet we cannot afford to ignore them much longer.

Foreign interests are buying up our farmland and holding our national debt. As of 2021, foreign persons and entities owned 40.8 million acres of U.S. agricultural land, 47% of which was forestland, 29% in cropland, and 22% in pastureland. Foreign land holdings have increased by an average of 2.2 million acres per year since 2015. Foreign countries also own $7.4 trillion worth of U.S. national debt, with Japan and China ranked as our two largest foreign holders of our debt.

Corporate and governmental censorship have created digital dictators. While the “Twitter files” revealed the lengths to which the FBI has gone to monitor and censor social media content, the government has been colluding with the tech sector for some time now in order to silence its critics and target “dangerous” speech in the name of fighting so-called disinformation. The threat of being labelled “disinformation” is being used to undermine anyone who asks questions, challenges the status quo, and engages in critical thinking.

Middle- and lower-income Americans are barely keeping up. Rising costs of housing, food, gas and other necessities are presenting nearly insurmountable hurdles towards financial independence for the majority of households who are scrambling to make ends meet. Meanwhile, mounting layoffs in the tens of thousands are adding to the fiscal pain.

The government is attempting to weaponize mental health care. Increasingly, in communities across the nation, police are being empowered to forcibly detain individuals they believe might be mentally ill, even if they pose no danger to others. While these programs are ostensibly aimed at getting the homeless off the streets, when combined with the government’s ongoing efforts to predict who might pose a threat to public safety based on mental health sensor data (tracked by wearable data and monitored by government agencies such as HARPA), the specter of mental health round-ups begins to sound less far-fetched.

The military’s global occupation is spreading our resources thin and endangering us at home. America’s war spending and commitment to policing the rest of the world are bankrupting the nation and spreading our troops dangerously thin. In 2022 alone, the U.S. approved more than $50 billion in aid for Ukraine, half of which went towards military spending, with more on the way. The U.S. also maintains some 750 military bases in 80 countries around the world.

Deepfakes, AI and virtual reality are blurring the line between reality and a computer-generated illusion. Powered by AI software, deepfake audio and video move us into an age where it is almost impossible to discern what is real, especially as it relates to truth and disinformation. At the same time, the technology sector continues to use virtual reality to develop a digital universe—the metaverse—that is envisioned as being the next step in our evolutionary transformation from a human-driven society to a technological one.

Advances in technology are outstripping our ability to protect ourselves from its menacing side, both in times of rights, humanity and workforce. In the absence of constitutional protections in place to guard against encroachments on our rights in the electronic realm, we desperately need an Electronic Bill of Rights that protects “we the people” from predatory surveillance and data-mining business practices.

The courts have aligned themselves with the police state. In one ruling after another, the courts have used the doctrine of qualified immunity to shield police officers from accountability for misconduct, tacitly giving them a green light to act as judge, jury and executioner on the populace. All the while, police violence, the result of training that emphasizes brute force over constitutional restraints, continues to endanger the public.

The nation’s dependence on foreign imports has fueled a $1 trillion trade deficit. While analysts have pointed to the burgeoning trade deficit as a sign that the U.S. economy is growing, it underscores the extent to which very little is actually made in America anymore.

World governments, including the U.S., continue to use national crises such as COVID-19 to expand their emergency powers. None are willing to relinquish these powers when the crisis passes. According to the Brennan Center for Justice, the U.S. government still has 42 declared national emergencies in effect, allowing it to sidestep constitutional protocols that maintain a system of checks and balances. For instance, the emergency declared after the 9/11 has yet to be withdrawn.

The nation’s infrastructure is rapidly falling apart. Many of the country’s roads, bridges, airports, dams, levees and water systems are woefully outdated and in dire need of overhauling, and have fallen behind that of other developed countries in recent years. The American Society of Civil Engineers estimates that crumbling infrastructure costs every American household $3,300 in hidden costs a year due to lost time, increased fuel consumption while sitting in traffic jams, and extra car repairs due to poor road conditions.

The nation is about to hit a healthcare crisis. Despite the fact that the U.S. spends more on health care than any other high-income country, it has the worst health outcomes than its peer nations. Experts are also predicting a collapse in the U.S. health care system as the medical community deals with growing staff shortages and shuttered facilities.

These are just a small sampling of the many looming problems that threaten to overwhelm us in the near future.

Thus far, Americans seem inclined to just switch the channel, tune out what they don’t want to hear, and tune into their own personal echo chambers.

Yet as I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People and in its fictional counterpart The Erik Blair Diaries, no amount of escapism can shield us from the harsh reality that the danger in our midst is posed by an entrenched government bureaucracy that has no regard for the Constitution, Congress, the courts or the citizenry.

Walk through any Wal-Mart, Target or Home Depot and almost every GD thing is made over seas, mostly in China. And I do mean almost everything. Our country has been savagely raped for our wealth. And along with the disappearance of our wealth, our stability is gone as well. Things are so fucking out of whack, I don’t see anyway we’re gonna get back on the straight & narrow.

Too bad I’m as old as I am, I’d like to see how things turn out. Of course tomorrow is promised to no one especially to a country with economic idiocy like ours but the reckoning is probably past my expiration date.

I am an old guy, long past the best before date, I am not sure I want to witness the demise of what was once the greatest most prosperous nation in the history of the planet. The last couple of decades have held more disappointment than anything, I don’t need much more.

I’m with you on that. If I had any feelings left, I would feel bad for my grandson’s though. Watching the moral decay of this country has been hard to watch.

Some of our clothes are made in small African countries and some middle east countries, also slave states (low income, long hours ) like China. Apparently, we are a service industy country with no manufacturing. I also would like to see how things turn out, we are way into retirement anyway and lived the best of years. Younger generations tune out, have no concern for their kids sending them to gov. schools (woke /LGBTQ education), no concern for families future, kids or g’kids incl most elderly who watch TV all day and play computer games, social media addiction 24/7. Vefry few younger able bodied men alive who are patriots now, Most patriots have passsed on in recent decades. We culled out dimwits and covid cult freaks, (social circle), now have so few friends and some moved way off from us.

It has been said that all wars are banker wars.

When foreigners try to take your homes under color of finance, they’ll quickly discover the awesome truth of that old saw.

Our “Union”. That’s funny. Diversity is our strength. Unity is a weakness. It’s been pounded into us for 60 years.

We knew this country was off the rails when we lost Korea then V.Nam wars, men killed then were called cannon fodder incl some classmates in V.Nam war, then we chose not to raise kids and so did other couples we knew. So glad we made that decision now since younger generations have a hollowed out country to live in and not much future as many tech job folks are layed off now. FDIC lacks funds for multiple bank bail outs if things get “iffy”.

Union is definitely not funny to native White Southerners; that political mistake turned into white slavery for us as permanent political minorities with no way to regain our pledged Constitutional rights after 1865. It has only gotten worse as the unConstitutional Civil Riots Act of 1964 is nothing but Post Civil War Reconstruction’s discrimination against Whites all over again. This time the Union is self destructing in a hundred stupid ways, probably in 2023; good riddance to perverted rubbish. I hope there is nothing left of North East liberals but dead and starving people and ashes, just like y’all did to Atlanta et all in the South by Summer 1865. I doubt a revived South will ever want any Union with the North again.

I would argue that Google, in fact, was created by one of the gov alphabets as a weapon against the freedoms of Americans. It’s in the name for the love of it all–Alphabet- GOOG.

No thanks, I’m not interested in ending my division from a party that loves pedophiles, mutilating children, grooming children, burning down cities, tearing down monuments, a two-tiered system with racism the deciding factor, perverts in dresses in every woman’s bathroom, pledging allegiance to the gay flag, disarming lawful Americans, seeks to make debate and election transparency illegal.

This is a short article by John as most of his writing are much longer. I am supposing this is just the short of it. Hysterical insanity grips America like a virus and it spreads just as virulently. What I do not see, read or hear is what we must do to take back America from the Deep State Criminals who believe we are no more than slaves of the state.

We need a ground swell of patriotism willing to do battle with a sick agenda being proffered by the likes of that sick man in the White House. When Americans allow a person suffering from Age-Related-Dementia to run our country into the ground, it does give us pause. If we cannot get our military to take out the Biden Regime, then patriots may have to, because we will not allow them to turn our country into a Third World example of just what not to allow in our governance.

First off, Law Enforcement must soon make the decision on which side they plan on supporting. Either they support the people against our government’s tyranny, or they support the state against the people. Which is it going to be boys and girls?

“First off, Law Enforcement must soon make the decision on which side they plan on supporting.” Well,
Mr. Forearmed, I can answer that right now. “Law Enforcement” will support whoever is signing their paychecks. There was a time in this corrupt, syphilitic-thinking country when they were called Peace Officers. Police and Sheriff’s Academies trained their recruits in safety, courtesy, and public service. But it all changed in the 1980’s with Ronnie & Nancy Raygun’s and the Bush crime family’s “War on Drugs.”
Asset forfeiture money was the carrot, the stick was enforcing the Leviathan’s laws. Police Chiefs, Sheriffs, and Prosecutors became greedy. Police academies went from “Public Servants” to “Us versus Them.” Mr. Whitehead has done an Yeoman’s job of documenting this abomination.
All politics is local. Police Chiefs are answerable to their City Council/Mayor/City Manager. You must make absolutely sure of the mindset and integrity of your elected officials if you want a city police department which will defend and protect the public; not only from local crooks, but from FEDGOV encroachment. Sheriffs are elected officials so the the control (usually) is with the electorate. As with any government agency whether it be police departments, health districts(think COVID restrictions), local legislatures, and especially school boards, vigilance and involvement are the key. Bleib ubrig.

Thank you, Sir. I did my thirty in SoCal. When I saw what was going on, I stayed long enough to put enough away in a medical trust fund due to my partially disabled wife and then bailed. She would tell me we had to get out of Riverside before we had to shoot our way out. Since she is an Idaho native, we ended up in Kootenai County. Nice place. White, polite, and armed to teeth. We have nowhere else to go. This we will defend. Bleib ubrig.

How Obama Destroyed Black Wealth

The Obama presidency was a disaster for middle-class wealth in the United States. Between 2007 and 2016, the average wealth of the bottom 99 percent dropped by $4,500. Over the same period, the average wealth of the top 1 percent rose by $4.9 million.

This drop hit the housing wealth of African Americans particularly hard. Outside of home equity, black wealth recovered its 2007 level by 2016. But average black home equity was still $16,700 lower.

Much of this decline, we will argue, can be laid at the feet of President Obama. His housing policies led directly to millions of families losing their homes. What’s more, Obama had the power — money, legislative tools, and legal leverage — to sharply ameliorate the foreclosure crisis.

He chose not to use it.

And lest we forget, he’s also this guy:

The FBI needs to do a memo that the Pope is a religious Extremest heretic who condones homosexuality and demands that Bishops do too; and the Pope is a supporter of NWO doctrines that violate Catholic doctrines. He is probably going to Hell and turning the whole flock into Extremest going there too. The FBI should suggest that the SPLC put all Catholics and United Methodist on the Terrorist Watch List.
