30 million people, or 10% of the United States population, may be in danger after a train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio that led to the release of toxic chemicals.
“We basically nuked a town with chemicals so we could get a railroad open,” said Sil Caggiano, a hazardous materials specialist.
As public officials try to calm the public, animals are falling sick and dying.
“Out of nowhere, he just started coughing really hard, just shut down, and he had liquid diarrhea and just went very fast,” said resident Taylor Holzer while he explained the mortally ill confition of his foxes.
“Smoke and chemicals from the train, that’s the only thing that can cause it, because it doesn’t just happen out of nowhere,” Holzer said. “The chemicals that we’re being told are safe in the air, that’s definitely not safe for the animals … or people.”
According to a new report, the situation may become much more widespread through the Ohio River Basin.

According to Upward News, the dangerous chemicals are making their way as far as West Virginia through the Ohio River.

As noted by DC Draino on Twitter, the toxic acid rain cloud has a 200 mile radius however people are only being evacuated in a 1 mile radius from the crash site.

Fox news was all over this this morning and aired an interview with Mr. Caggiano, who spelled out much of what is stated here. And while everything must be taken with a grain of salt and everyone is still running on the “rush” of the recent event, this seems to be worth watching.
That said, the upper Ohio valley has been a cancer cluster area for my entire life. From the coal mine run off and other industries, all the way from Morgantown, WV. (Mon River, which flows north to Pittsburgh) to steel mills and associated industry to our local area, which was the pottery manufacturing center of the world. We have literally bathed in toxins for the last 100 years.
While this is concerning, Overton’s window says this story will be, mostly, gone from national news in a week or so. Or as soon as the aliens responsible for all of those pesky balloons show up to reclaim their property.

I understand one of the chemicals being transported was Phosgene gas. This was used in WW1 as a chemical weapon. It is now used, I understand, in the manufacture of some plastics. What other deadly chemicals were in that string of cars they are not telling us about? The real question is why are they transporting this material so near to populations over what appears to be poorly maintained tracks and equipment? Now lets see what the NTSB comes back with as to why the derailment occurred. Lets see if they are looking out for the public’s safety or just on the masters payroll.

While Ohio is a huge ag state, most of it is to the west, or up wind, as EP sits on the eastern most border. PA will be most exposed to particulate matter, but the border doesn’t change the geography. Still plenty of PA farm land. The ground water question is another matter, though.
Searching for wind info is tricky. Some show at the time of the burn wind was from SW to NE. 20+ knots. How winds changed over those 2-3 days will be a crucial factor in fallout mapping.
