Bill Gates Says “The Age Of AI Has Begun”

Via ZeroHedge

In an op-ed titled “The Age of AI has begun” on “The Blog of Bill Gates,” Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates discussed the upcoming paradigm shift in technology. Having been instrumental in developing personal computers several decades ago, the billionaire seems to know a thing or two about technological innovation. He believes that OpenAI’s language generation artificial intelligence tools will be at the forefront of the next technological revolution.

Gates wrote, “I’ve seen two demonstrations of technology that struck me as revolutionary.”

“The first time was in 1980, when I was introduced to a graphical user interface—the forerunner of every modern operating system, including Windows,” he said.

Gates said the second big surprise came last year with the impressive advancement in OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

“The development of AI is as fundamental as the creation of the microprocessor, the personal computer, the Internet, and the mobile phone,” he said. “It will change the way people work, learn, travel, get health care, and communicate with each other.”

Gates said he’s been in contact with OpenAI since 2016 and last year challenged the team to train the chatbot to pass the Advanced Placement biology exam. A few months later, he said the bot could pass a college-level biology course.

After seeing the results, Gates began to contemplate the future and how AI will be intertwined with humans on a day-to-day basis, just like computers and smartphones.

“This inspired me to think about all the things that AI can achieve in the next five to 10 years.”

Gates has emerged as a significant player in the AI arms race, as Microsoft, the company he founded, has pledged over $10 billion in funding to OpenAI.

However, like any new technology, there’s always a concern. Gates addressed some of those issues:

“Any new technology that’s so disruptive is bound to make people uneasy, and that’s certainly true with artificial intelligence. I understand why—it raises hard questions about the workforce, the legal system, privacy, bias, and more.”

On the bias issue, there have been numerous complaints about AI trainers skewing ChatGPT toward answering questions with a left-leaning spin. This has been such a significant problem that Elon Musk is allegedly taking on — in a new project to develop a ‘non-woke’ alternative chatbot.

Even the co-creator of ChatGPT warned that the world might not be “that far away from potentially scary” AI.

… and what’s disturbing — is if AI is programmed to enforce the truths determined by figures like Gates, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, and the federal government.

While Gates expresses enthusiasm about the potential of AI to be game-changing for humans, there is a flip side to it. The technology could become a tool for extreme censorship, which could make the Twitter censorship program seem trivial in comparison.

“Artificial Intelligence” really just means parroting groupthink dogma, which is what our intellectual class has already evolved to. You don’t need machines for that. Look at the drivel being spewed by the “experts” in all our formerly great, or at least competent, institutions. Saying men can get pregnant, for example, will be just as wrong and stupid coming from a computer as it does from the mouths of deranged commies. Likewise global warming, mRNA “vaccine” efficacy, and all the other bullshit that is provably untrue.

Real intelligence, on the other hand, is being actively repressed and discouraged at all levels. Reasoning outside the box of allowable thought is exactly what all the censorship and marginalization of independent-thinking heretics is all about.

This is so exciting. We are so lucky to have a fella thats so interested in humanity and its welfare. I can’t wait for him to marry his expertise in AI and healthcare. Why, I bet he’ll bring that brilliance to his other blooming expertise in ag too, after all he knows a thing or two so we def should listen.

I wonder if he could develope a system to help guide us daily in how we work, travel and learn. Perhaps some kind of scoring system that gently steers us to enlightenment.

Compared to Dr. Gates, AI is a non starter for things that are dangerous to mankind.

The U.S. Government Is Building A Vast Surveillance And Speech Suppression Web Around Every American

While the “Twitter Files” offer a glimpse into the government’s efforts to censor disfavored viewpoints, what we have seen is nothing compared to what is planned, as the details of hundreds of federal awards lay bare. Research by The Federalist reveals our tax dollars are funding the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine-learning (ML) technology that will allow the government to easily discover “problematic” speech and track Americans reading or partaking in such conversations.

Then, in partnership with Big Tech, Big Business, and media outlets, the government will ensure the speech is censored, under the guise of combatting “misinformation” and “disinformation.”…

Originally used as a marketing tool for businesses to track discussions about their brands and products and to track competitors, the DOD and other federal agencies are now paying for-profit public relations and communications firms to convert their technology into tools for the government to monitor speech on the internet.

And, as with so much of the surveillance of our US Citizenry, the question remains — just how many of the firms involved in this criminal activity against our citizens is from Unit 8200 or other israeli tech companies. A lot of the spying on US citizens going back to immediately after 9/11 has been done by israeli firms whose software has been embedded into our intelligence infrastructure — some, unbeknownst to US for a long stretch of time, sending information directly back to israeli intelligence (mossad) immediately after intercepting it here in the US.

‘Our friend and ally’ … bullshit …

Craigslist Craig Funded The Censorship-Industrial Complex To Silence Dissent Online

The billionaire founder of Craigslist, Craig Newmark, is using his fortune to further shape journalism into partisan activism to help Democrats win elections. He is the nation’s leading financier of the “mis”- and “disinformation” industries and is now the largest private stakeholder in America’s legacy journalism schools.

The most recent Twitter Files released by Matt Taibbi add a deeply disturbing new layer to the story. They show Newmark is at the very heart of an incestuous web of government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and corporate media institutions operating in concert to censor political opponents on social media. Newmark is financing the largest coordinated assault on American free speech in living memory.

“Having been instrumental in developing personal computers several decades ago . . .”

Dude, several decades ago when the personal computer was being developed nobody had even heard of Bill Gates.

Even IBM had little to do with the development of personal computers. Intel, Motorola, PARC Xerox and a crew of dedicated hobbyists in SF and Boston did all the heavy lifting.

IBM and Gates showed up late for the party and basically built their personal computer businesses around repackaging and reselling the party favors.

As it happens, today is the 58th anniversary of the release of the PDP-8, by DEC in Boston (well, Maynard if you want to get technical, because the rent was cheaper outside of the city, but they came out of MIT).

The PDP (Programmable Data Processor) -8 was the first true desktop computer (if you had a big enough desk), with a launch price of $18k, not including peripherals such as the external data drives (which were larger than the computer).

DEC invented the modular circuit board method of building up computers (in the late 50s) that IBM was forced to adopt because they were so late to the party that they didn’t have time to develop their own integrated system if they weren’t going to be left out of the market entirely.

The SF crowd has gotten all the press for some time, but in the early days the Boston crowd was where it was at.

At age 24 (1977), my doofus father in law handed me the keys to his rapidly bankrupting oil jobbership.

Monthly invoices took 2 days. Bought a $15,000 Monroe (yes, the adding machine company) sorta computer. The programmer came in every 10 days to do new customer entry. Our printer was an IBM Selectric Ball Typewriter. Invoices now took 3 hours. Got delinquencies under control with help from my mother in law (and she was always wondetful, even after her daughter dumped me in ’88).

After 1981, suffered through two Burroughs B Series, the 1st had a 6.5″ floppy. The 2nd a 3.25″ hard disk. The 1st broke down weekly, programmer drove 90 minutes to solve the problem.

Hope this re-kindlles bad memories for us older farts.

It seems people are just getting more gullible and ignorant every day. There is no “AI”. What people are foolish enough to believe is “AI” is nothing more than correlation engines feeding back what they’ve been programmed – usually by leftist cultists.
