I remember reading an essay from someone who worked in TV broadcast news in the 80s. This person relayed how they might get thousands of outraged calls from a story, but since those people would not know about each other, all the network had to do was ignore them.
There were a surprising amount of truth bombs nestled in that schizoid screed, just not any self contained truth.
