Makes me think of the VERY FIRST LESSON my dad taught me when learning how to drive was to never challenge the cops. He said they were too trigger happy and to always peacefully submit and work out the details later. He said to always put my hands up on the steering wheel when pulled over so they would feel safe that I wasn’t going for a weapon.
Anyway, kinda ironic advice seeing how he was raised in the inner city projects among the blacks. How he learned that lesson and the blacks didn’t beats me.

Sometimes, I leave the shopping cart in the Aldi parking lot next to my parking spot, thinking I am doing a good deed because someone else will not have to look for a quarter. Laziness? Perhaps.
Other times, I take it back to the entrance and give it to the next person as a gift, without accepting the quarter that is being offered.
And then there was that one time that a clearly homeless person was hanging out in the Aldi parking lot offering to return everyone’s carts. That was his way of earning quarters. I was so impressed that he would not just stand around begging for money but rather offering a service and doing work in return for a very small amount that I gave him my cart plus $5.
Now I am wondering if I am fit to live in the Western First World Civilization.

Some carts are now a dollar to unlock and some have a wheel that locks up once you get too far away from the store . The carts with the baby seat are unlocked, so they get stolen and never return.
