Well, item one alone tells us that these are ridiculously impossible goals. So much has be written about the “poor will always be with us” that I won’t waste editorial space repeating it. But there are two specifics that are driving the current agenda:
- ESG – Environmental, Social, and Governance
- DIE – Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity [I switched from DEI – to DIE don’t ask why!]
These two fit together like a glove. But first DIE is explained so well by Jim Rickards it’s worth an 8 minute read to understand what is going on in our world. Jim says: “DIE” is the mantra of corporate and political America today. The problem is that none of these words is used in any common-sense way. They’re used in Orwellian fashion to mean almost their exact opposites.
Today’s DIE pushers have done Orwell proud. Diversity means uniformity of thought and practice along ideological and political lines. Equity does not mean equality of opportunity. It means equality of result, which involves handicapping the most talented and taking from the most productive to give handouts to the laziest and least motivated.
Inclusion means exclusion of whites from Black dorms, exclusion of unpopular speakers from public venues and exclusion of ideas that vary from a toxic and politically rigid orthodoxy. The DIE ‘thought agenda’ is being enforced by armies of inspectors and compliance officers, who will fire you, demote you and denigrate you in front of your peers if you deviate from their thought control.

HOWEVER, Jim is not alone. “We need to criticize the people who got us here,” says Alex Epstein, founder of the ‘Center for Industrial Progress ‘and author of ‘Fossil Future’. “We can’t keep treating these designated experts as real experts. Epstein is right, and his advice has never been more urgent or as difficult to make people understand. It is no exaggeration that every major institution in America has now committed itself to the elimination of affordable and abundant energy. If it isn’t stopped this commitment, motivated by misguided concern for the planet, and also by a lust for power and money enabled by moral cowardice and intellectual negligence, will destroy Western civilization.
Energy is the foundation of everything – prosperity, freedom, upward mobility, national wealth, individual economic independence, functional water and transportation infrastructure, commercial-scale agriculture, mining, and industry. Without energy, it all goes dark. And “renewables” are not even remotely capable of replacing oil, gas, coal, nuclear, and hydroelectric power. IT’S IMPOSSIBLE. The only people who think renewables are capable of replacing conventional energy are uninformed, innumerate, or corrupt.

UKRAINE – THE UNENDING WAR

One political scientist and military analyst, Dr. Randall Bowdish, categorised strategy into five types: extermination, exhaustion, annihilation, intimidation, and subversion. The decision to provide F-16s to Ukraine suggests that the Biden administration, and Britain, now believe that even if there is a negotiated end to the fighting (perhaps a Korea-like armistice) Ukraine will need a long-term capability to deter an angry, sanctioned Russia. Britain does not have F-16s in its air force, but the Netherlands and Belgium do. Today, it has been superseded by the F-35 which is manufactured by Lockheed. The initial production-standard F-16A flew for the first time on August 7, 1978 and its delivery was accepted by the USAF on January 6, 1979. The aircraft entered USAF operational service with the 34th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 388th Tactical Fighter Wing, at Hill AFB in Utah, on October 1, 1980. So it’s pretty much an obsolete war-bird?
The Russian MiG-29 has superior turning rates and super-manoeuvrability. It has a very “forgiving” flight characteristic and better post-stall recovery. The F-16 does have certain strong points over the MiG, like better visibility, ergonomics, man-machine interface and lower fuel consumption rate. INFLATION WATCH: As long as the prescribed medicine for “taming” inflation is hiking interest rates any recovery will be slow and painful if at all. It is economically illiterate to suppose that people already struggling to meet household bills have “too much money”, and that demand is pushing prices higher – cretins could understand this logic – but financial gurus are not cretins so I have to conclude that their policy is deliberate.
The reduction in supplies of energy from Russia, as well as grain and fertiliser from Ukraine, have been the main driving force for sudden price increases. Disruption in fragile supply chains added to the problems following lockdowns and CBs printing money simultaneously has created an uncontrollable stagflation monster.
I don’t blame businesses for spotting a golden main-chance and thus ‘greedflation’ has blossomed in the markets ably assisted by established ‘shrinkflation’. Look at energy company profits last year which prove, beyond reasonable doubt, that it’s a supply side problem, not demand side. This is ‘cost-push’ in a majority of supply chains.
Increases in interest rates can be compared to the practice of leeching the sick used before the advent of modern medicines. HMG debt servicing costs have increased and will go on increasing this year at a minimum. HMG are now spending £10bn a month just to service debt!
