Because we are presented with false gods. Belief in false gods falling in half is a good thing. Makes more room for the return of the true God.

I see Russell Brand has eaten the forbidden fruit and believes he too can be like God. That rant was very self focused. But I’ll give him credit for bringing up the topic. We can’t all be God. The reason were so divided is because everybody is playing the game by their own rules not by the Creator’s rules.

Everybody is picking and choosing what rules they agree with and what rules they choose to enforce. This isn’t sustainable.

Very astute observation, Stephanie. To put it simply, Brand made God in his own image, something many people tend to do when they go off on their own to decide what God is. It brought these verses to mind from Judges 17

5 And the man Micah had a shrine, and he made an ephod and household gods, and ordained[a] one of his sons, who became his priest. 6 In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

Btw, I tend to go in spurts in Bible reading. I’ve been away from it too much lately. Your quest has inspired me to get back to it.

Really, give Dr Heiser a try. So many of my questions that went unanswered he was able to answer. First we have to learn to see the Bible through the eyes of the ancient near east people. Ancient Semitic languages were a large part of his studies. We don’t think like they did at all.

Good to hear you’re getting back to it. Right now I’m focused on reading the Bible in its historical and literary understanding. I skimmed the website you provided and all that information would be too confusing for me at the moment. I’m just going to stick only what’s in the Scripture until I know more about the theology. After I finish reading the Bible I intended to read more apologist writings and history of the early Church. Probably gonna tackle all those hearsay arguments to discern all the false god and false theology in our information age.

Those are interesting topics but it’s good to remember the underlying theme of the whole is the Messiah, Jesus Christ (name in whatever language). That’s the whole point of the Bible, not even morals/ethics/behavior including reading the Bible.
From genesis to revelation.

A person can get that message without the Bible because of the Holy Spirit and people telling them as ordered. Where there’s no people God can handle that. However Christians will always want the Bible.

I find it interesting that out of all you’ve been reading this topic spurred you to write an article. It’s totally related to the main message, too, meaning good thing it’s about grace in the long run or we’d all be trouble.

I started reading the Bible because of a reading bucket list. I figured I should read it at least once in life since so much of Western culture is based off the Bible.

But if there’s any doubt that the Bible is indeed ‘alive’ I can confirm it! It’s done some weird things with my mind since I started reading it. Ideas and visions pop into my head all the time now. Leading me from one source of info to another. Inspiration for writing is off the charts for me right now. It definitely sparked a lot of creativity.

Just bookmark it for later, then.

One of the biggest problems I had with God was what I thought seemed like indiscriminate killing of not just men but women, children and animals that God directed the Hebrews to do as they went about conquering cities in what would become Israel. I had to be patient for years before I came across his book Unseen Realm. Maybe it had to be written first because I bought it when it was first released. It answered many of my questions, not just that one.

Modern churches never discuss the spiritual realm other than vague references to angels and demons. Except for Pentecostals and Assembly of God types but they twisted everything.

I’m nowhere near contemplating the Bible. I think of myself at a beginner level just reading it the first time. That’s all I’m doing right now. The only extra resources I’m using is one really big commentary book so I’m not completely lost and Tim Mackie’s Bible project series. To give you an idea at what level of Biblical understand I’m at here’s the video I’m currently watching.

There is NOTHING other than the divine. How could it be otherwise? Just because our physical manifestation and attachment to the self-contraction keeps us from being one with the divine doesn’t change the reality of all that is. The divine is not diminished by lack of belief. It is the non-believers who are diminished.

John Villamonte has a very beautiful song.

I don’t care what you believe in.
I don’t care what you defile.
They’ll be a time, when you must walk the sacred mile.

For most people it is not yet the time. When it is, you’ll know.

Russell is interesting no doubt. But as a Christian, which of course is an exclusive way to God, he is simply posing the “spiritual” argument that as long as we all believe in a God its I’m Ok, you’re Ok. To the extent he is correct about an infinitely better earthly world if we all believe in a God, that is good. But eternal salvation that comes from Christ is another matter. At least he is addressing the topic of God and at this point, I’ll take it because Christians are enemy #1 for the Atheists (mainly Jews) running our world. And as more people lose faith, the likelihood of you’re bankruptcy and maybe jail goes up exponentially if you are a follower of Jesus.

Amen Amen. Belief in God is a good first step. People ‘losing’ faith is often the result of unwarranted expectations — God owes them something because they prayed or read their Bible. When He doesn’t perform, their faith is shaken.

Paul’s advice to Timothy sums it up well: “But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them” (2 Timothy 3:13, 14).

“For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.”
Matthew 24:24

Never got the appeal. I recall pictures of Brand with Klause or other WEF’ers, context unknown.

I don’t mind a British accent , except when it is used in advertising in a snobbish way to make it seem to the consumer that this person is ” more intellectual ” so you should BUY their product.

I used to be a rationalist about all the blather regarding “a spiritual battle” taking place. After 50+ years of intense, persistent and objective research among all the world’s religious and spiritual traditions, I’ve come to the conclusion that is, in fact, what is occurring.

Not to impose any of my beliefs on others, but what I have concluded is that we, individuals in a materially constructed world, are merely what is perceptible with sense organs that have very limited ranges. This by no means defines what we REALLY are, it just means the number of folks who are able to perceive in other ways is very small.

We call these others saints, saviors, messiahs, etc. They are the advance guard of humanity, of what we are intended to become. “Know ye not, ye are gods?” “Greater things than these shall ye do.” “Be ye perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect.” These Christian citations are reflected in other spiritual traditions, but for the Western mind, a profound understanding of true Christian cosmology is really the most satisfying, at least to me.

There is a war going on. It looks like a culture war, a political narrative, a power grab, a self-selected elite run amok. In reality, there is a spiritual battle going on and human beings are the battlefield. While we are being saturated in what only may be described as Evil (the near complete lack of Good or God), we retain the right as creatures with free will to chose sides.

The struggle goes on in other planes of awareness or consciousness, but here, each time we choose to put ourselves before the legitimate needs of others, to deny justice in even the smallest way as fair play, to seek to gratify our desires regardless of who is impacted or what is lost to our character, we are choosing to join the fight on the side of Darkness.

The good news, I believe, is that Light is invincible, utterly unable to be overcome. We just have to choose it. All the time, every day, every moment. To conquer others is impressive, to conquer oneself divine.

I’ve come to the same conclusion as a Christian. The clear sense I get from Scripture is that we are indeed mere vessels, temporary homes for our Spirit. Jars of clay, if you prefer, literally. God alone gives the breath of life, animated via the blood. Our lifetimes are just a vapor, during which time eternal decisions are made. Other spiritual beings and battles are all around us, hidden by our limited 3d Earthbound nature. 2 Kings 6:17, Elisha prayed for the eyes of his servant to be opened, after which the man could see hills full of horses and flaming chariots all around Elisha.

Well said, Sirhan Wrap!
We have to consider ourselves as spirits in a material world. There are those who think the path to power is control over others, but it’s not. True power is only realized in the discipline of control over your base self, choosing what is right as our Lord taught.

Seems we are in the End Times. Mans rule on this earth is coming to an end. Don’t be afraid, be aware and let not your mind be deceived for great signs and wonders are coming. Speak to God with reverence, He wants to hear from us. Put on the full armor of Jesus Chris.

The great falling away/ The final apostasy

“Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.”
