Agreed.
In the back woods and waters, we feed deer every evening.. The generations continue.
Happily stunned to see the fawn act in that manner and certainly would not extend my hand. Very likely the entire area feeds the deer.

WHOA. Allow me to voice my mind here.

There is something very special in the White genome. I’ve seen it far too many times now to discount it.

The connection between Whites and Nature is profound and real. Notice how most people who hike in the mountains and forests are White. We feel a call to such places, and we are nourished when we visit there. Also notice that environmentalist foundations and such groups are always nearly all White, with some Asians. There is a reason for that.

So, please, when you watch this video, realize that behaviors are expressions of genomes, and we not only behave according to our genome, but other creatures also react to our genome. Race is real, as are genomic behaviors.

We see many videos of a certain ethnic group twerking, being violent, destroying things, fighting in public places and we think – that’s them. That’s their racial behaviors we’re noticing. It’s real.

Well, also please notice the positive aspects of our racial behaviors when they are shown so clearly. There is something very, very special about the White genome, and that is why it must not be lost. It took many tens of thousands of years for it to be created.

Let’s honor it by preserving it. The White genome is magnificent.

Sweet video. However, sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you can actually harm the baby by touching it and putting your human smell on it, in which case the mama will reject it.

Many times, humans think they’re saving an abandoned fawn and will move it or touch it. Then mama comes back to baby, smells the human on her baby, and rejects it.

Happened often in Colorado. If you’re ever in this situation where you have to save a fawn, put plastic gloves on or do whatever you must not to get your human smell on it. Otherwise, you just caused more damage.

The Rangers would tell people that often…DO NOT TOUCH AN ABANDONED FAWN…or what people think would be an abandoned fawn…many times the mama hid her baby in the woods to go off for awhile, then will come back to it. It really wasn’t abandoned….but people like to save the day.

They would ask people to report it & then the Rangers would keep an eye on it to determine if it was really abandoned, hurt, or whatever. Then handle it accordingly – without imposing their human smell.

Just sharing that because it was so common, and humans just think they were doing a good deed when in reality they caused more problems.

Wrong. I don’t believe you’ve seen it disproved many times. It’s science, real science, natural science.

Give us your name.

Just go talk to a naturalist that work in the environment of these animals every day. They will tell you to not touch the babies for this very reason.

Also, during high peak times of visitors to the mountains, they would put out a news alert telling people not to touch the babies.

Fuck naturalists. All the best are long gone. Now we have government workers posing as biologists.

You may be right about touching them. I’m not saying otherwise. But I’ve found experts in modern days to be completely incompetent, so their authority is lacking.

Maybe the solution is to touch the babies and let the mamas who drop babies near humans die off. I dunno.

https://www.ncwildlife.org/Connect-With-Us/Blog/dont-touch-that-fawn-says-wildlife-commission

RALEIGH, N.C. (May 8, 2018) — With fawning season in full swing, N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is once again reminding people not to approach, touch or remove any white-tailed deer fawns they encounter over the next few weeks.

From late April through June, white-tailed does across North Carolina are giving birth. Whitetails are a “hider” species, which means the female will hide her fawn in vegetation during the first two or three weeks of its life as she feeds. When left alone fawns have an excellent chance of survival. Dappled and lacking scent, they are well camouflaged in the wild and usually remain undetected by predators. Fawns are also well-equipped to protect themselves. By the time they are 5 days old, they can outrun a human. At 6 to 10 weeks of age, fawns can escape most predators.

“Each year, fawns are taken out of the wild by well-intentioned individuals who mistakenly assume they are orphaned or have been abandoned,” said Jon Shaw, the deer biologist for the Commission. “However, it is rare for a doe to abandon her fawn, although she will leave it for hours at a time, she returns periodically to nurse it.

“If you find a fawn, leave it where it is and check on it the following day. If it still there and is bleating loudly, appears cold, weak or thin, or is injured, it might be orphaned. However, do not take it out of the wild, but rather contact a local, permitted fawn rehabilitator.”

If a fawn has been removed from the wild, Shaw advises taking the fawn back to where it was found — but only if the fawn has been held for less than 48 hours, the maximum time when a doe usually will return for her fawn. After 48 hours, the fawn should not be returned to the wild but taken to a local, permitted fawn rehabilitator.

With the exception of trained wildlife rehabilitators, most people are ill-equipped to care for a fawn, so their misguided attempts to “save” an abandoned fawn typically do more harm than good, with the majority of captive fawns eventually dying.

Here’s why you shouldn’t touch that adorable baby deer

Now that it’s almost Summer, Victorians are starting to spot baby deer, or fawns, taking their very first steps all over town.

Whether they’re in your own back yard or in a park somewhere, these adorable creatures are often seen wandering around by themselves, leading many people to assume that they are orphaned or in distress.

It can be tempting to go pet the fawn or offer it comfort, but this is unadvisable even if the animal is actually injured or in danger.

Why?
According to a study by Pennsylvania State University, fawns typically only nurse 2-3 times a day during the first few weeks of their life.

When they’re not nursing, they choose their own bedding away from their mom, and move around several times a day all by themselves! But the doe is always about 90 metres away from them – even if you can’t always see her.

Fawns also take several days to imprint on their mom, which means that before they do, there’s a chance they could imprint on other large moving objects. This includes human beings.

Furthermore, touching a fawn means leaving our human scent all over it. This makes them much more easily detectable to predators in the area, since fawns naturally have little to no scent.

This is great. The mom was willing to take a big risk to save the baby. People think deer are dumb but I don’t think so. I live in an area where there are large numbers of deer. The first few winters I lived here I used to go to a feed store and buy bags of “10% sweet feed”. The deer love that stuff. When there was enough snow on the ground I would go buy 10 bags and feed them. It started slow. I would go out in the back yard (we live in the woods) and pour out a bag in a long stream across the snow. Then go inside and wait. At dusk a few deer would show up and start chowing down. After a couple of weeks I could sit out on the deck and watch them. They kept an eye on me but they were hungry so they ate it. Over the winter there was more and more of them and they would let me be closer – maybe 20 feet away. Then they would let me be 10 feet away. In spring I stopped feeding them. They did not need the food. The following winter when snow covered the ground I started putting food out again. Surprise ! Some of them remembered. They started showing up and looking for the food. I started feeding them again and some of them remembered me and would let me be like 10 feet away and they had kids with them and they were bold. The kids would look to mom to decide if it was safe. Mom did not do anything so the babies would come up to me – maybe 2 or 3 feet away. The third year the babies had grown up and they showed up with their babies. Third generation. The moms would let me be like 3 feet away and the babies would look to mom for guidance and then they would walk right up to me. We would play and chase each other around the back yard. It was impressive.

Exactly. Keep the animals wild.

Don’t train wild animals to trust humans. They have their wild instincts for a reason, and their babies need to keep it as well. Humans cause more damage than they realize – when they think it’s sweet, and cute, and all fun & games. Not good.
