Well that sure was a weekend of lies, misinformation, disinformation, and laying the ground work for the next stage in their Great Reset plan. I had the same thoughts over the weekend. I’ve generally soft sold this observation to my wife and family, not wanting to spook them. That’s gone. Everyone who talks on the HAM bands must have a license or someone with a license standing right next to you. You also have to ID yourself every 10 minutes. It is strictly for a hobby use. And it is about as fun as living in the Gaza strip, an open air walled prison.
It’s no longer a hassle to get your “ticket” to broadcast on Ham radio since they did away with the morse code requirement.

CCR, several years ago I bought the inexpensive BaoFeng UV-5R handheld Ham radios. They are very inexpensive and make excellent short distance communications. (If you can find a Ham buddy he can show you how to set up an antenna).

FYI to all, the Baofeng UV-5R cannot legally be used without a ham license, regardless of band, because it’s not an FCC-approved radio. Legal unlicensed use of FRS can only be done with an FCC approved radio. GMRS requires that and a different license also.
Not that it matters much, your chances of being caught are comparable to driving 1mph over the limit on a busy part of I-75. But you should know.
If you get a baofeng and speak ebonics while transmitting you’ll find the FCC will never bother you.

A ham radio would be a good tool for keeping up on whats happening outside your sphere but for local comms kinda useless, imo. I think that antennae would be like having a big flag on the property that may or may not attract attention from undesirables.
What you might want to consider are radio’s that the local farmers, loggers etc use in your area. Very good ranges and you can make phone calls on with an operator in a pinch. The upside is that these people using these radios too, are likely going to be friendly to our cause. You won’t find to many purple haired loggers, riggers, farmers etc. just say’n
As I mentioned above, these Ham handhelds are multiband. I’m guessing the farmers you mention are using either Friendly Radio Service (FRS) or General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS).
GMRS does require an FCC license but, it is cheap and good for 10 years.

My bush radio was digital/analog capable, under dash and had a range of about 100 miles, 200 on certain mountains when I was working as a delimber operator.
Todays radios are much more sophisticated, like the Nexedge radios, they make my old radio look like smoke signals tech. Don’t know much about hand helds but farmers, loggers, riggers etc all use truck or under dash model radios. You can get them with or without licensing. Not that I’d pay the govt extortions to use a radio, never have, never will.

But how many people on those networks?? I can’t back it up but I think the ham radio networks/clubs are very small. In my locale I can probably find MAYBE one or two obvious radio operators.
I’m guessing thats going to be the normal rather than a rule. Imo, again, where there is industry like farming, forestry, oil etc you will find radios far more common than ham sets. And they’ll be closer geographically as well. Which to me is essential for warnings and calls for help if needed. How many ham operators will be able to come to your aid if called??
BTW, I’m not discounting ham radio, just I don’t see it as practical. Especially when the grid goes down. And unless you have battery backups to keep the radio alive, then you got nothing. Another reason for under dash radio’s or hand helds.

Bought a Tescun short wave, a reel antenna, a solar charger two extra rechargeable batteries, put them all in a Faraday bag.
I also picked up a old tube style Transoceanic short wave receiver, next up is a inverter so i can power that, among other things, from a car battery.
For my BF radios I picked up a survival antenna from the Zon, it is.like.a reel antenna for a BF without the reel.

we tested our water well pump (Manual) this weekend, works just fine, can pump up as many gallons of clean water as our tired arms can manage. Next, topping off all the tanks and gas cans again. In Florida dpending on where you live, and what water authority you’re under, you can put in a hand pump well up to 1 1/4 inches without a permit, for example where I am, under the SJWA you don’t need a permit, but you are supposed to inform them that you did afterwards by filing a well completion form.
However, for.example, in SWiftMud you can’t.
I lucked out and found a old new stock red wing hand pitcher pump, and I also managed to pick up up a nos, Davey US made one because,
one is none.
I would also suggest putting back the type of leathers that your pump uses. They do wear out, and if you have one of those ChiCom ones they aren’t as smooth as the old US made ones and the leathers in the commie made ones wear out quicker.
I’m fortunate to have 2 wells on my property. The original well is a surface / bore well that has a large opening with a cement cap. (My wife and I built a wooden “wishing well” over it). A few years ago I purchased one of those Amish made galvanized “buckets” that has a one way valve. You drop it into the well, it pulls in 2.5 gallons, closes the valve, and you pull it up.
My other, primary well is a drilled well I had put in a few years ago. It is the one with a pump and is about 280′ down and is what gives me my homes water.
Finally, on my acreage, there are 2 spring heads too so, I’m grateful for multiple sources of water.

You don’t have to register a ham radio with the govt. You just need a license to operate it on the air. And, in the event of an “emergency” anyone is permitted to temporarily operate it for the purposes of the emergency. Getting trained to effectively use it is a major reason for the license.

We don’t have to register our radios. You can buy new and used ones at ‘hamfests’ – ham radio flea markets – for cash and walk away.
The problem is radio direction finding. Today the technology can pinpoint you extremely fast and highly accurately. Operating on the wrong frequencies that interfere with other services WILL get you caught. You may not hear them if they’re running a digital system for example,
The other problem is the learning curve. Don’t expect to turn it on and just talk to someone. Each frequency requires different antenna lengths, and the tuning for operation requires additional equipment. This is a very technical hobby. Different frequencies are required for different times of the day and/or the distances that you might need to cover. Your signal might completely jump over an intended region and your signal might only be heard in Zimbabwe.
You can learn how to do it, but you’ll have to put in time and effort. Google search a ham radio club near you and ask for help.
