Shorting Evil

Evil is in a topping formation.

Guest post by Robert Gore at Straight Line Logic

Evil is completely dependent on the good it attempts to destroy. When good discovered fire, invented the wheel, and started planting seeds, evil invented government. Evil produces nothing, it only commands, coerces, enslaves, destroys, and murders. Gigantic tombs loom over Egypt’s desert, built by slaves millennia ago, monuments to rulers’ vanity. A single farmer working the Nile’s alluvial soil produced more than any pharaoh, yet the former had to send a portion of his crop to the latter.

Nothing has changed since then. How do the production and lives of the good become the property of evil? Force, fear, and fraud are the usual answers, but they can’t be the entire answer. Rulers and their military and police forces are always vastly outnumbered by the ruled. Revolts have brought down countless governments. Yet, why have most people down through the ages not revolted but endured the force, fear, and fraud? The trick is to get the ruled to assign their right in their own lives to the rulers, acting as the purported agent of a collective.

New Version of TBP Comments Plugin

Because the world moves on (read The Dark Tower by Stephen King [even if you think you don’t like Stephen King]), sometimes you have to adapt. Even curmudgeons sometimes have to adapt (or die – also a valid choice).

Over time, software changes. The software platform that this blog runs on (WordPress) is constantly being updated to make improvements and also to beef up security against malicious bots, people, and code — which is a very real thing on the interwebs and which would [TODAY] take TBP off the Internet without playing constant defense against it.

When the platform changes, all the other code that runs on that platform has to update along the way. I’ve left the commenting plugin that we run on TBP un-updated for many, many years and there started to be some functional and some security issues with the old code.

At the same time, some of the other plugins (that affect how commenting works) we’re running on the site abruptly decided to start charging fees that would have made this site financially unviable. So we had to make some decisions and part of those decisions involved finally updating the commenting plugin.

I’m still messing with settings, trying to make the new version work as closely as possible to the old version. There are some definite improvements. For example:

Embedding Images

You no longer have to click a link and paste the URL for an image into a box at the top of the page.

You can now just paste the image URL directly into the comment box and the image should render as an image (not a URL) when your comment is posted. Try it and let me know below if it doesn’t work, exactly HOW it doesn’t work and I’ll fix it.

Use the comments on this post to tell me what’s not working. But you have to tell me in a way that I can understand what’s actually not working. Here’s an example of something I can’t do anything about:

“When I try to post an image it doesn’t work.”

Here’s an example of something I can do something about:

“When I tried to reply to BL’s comment above, it wouldn’t post and I received an error message pop-up that said “invalid e-mail” – and the error message kept activating no matter what (correct) e-mail I typed in.

So I logged in to respond. Which is something I won’t be able to do always. Can the e-mail trigger be deactivated? Or not?”

A lot of what you tell me is probably going to be specific to your particular setup and I probably won’t be able to fix that. But if there is something that is really not working for everyone (or many), then that’s something I can probably do something about.

Driving America into a Brick Wall

By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

Back in February, when everyone was predicting a Fed rate cut, precious metals expert and financial writer Bill Holter said rates would be going up and not down.  Since that call, the 10-Year Treasury is up more than 30 basis points.  It closed today at 4.67%.  Now, Holter is still calling for higher interest rates that will coincide with higher gold and silver prices.  Why?  It’s called inflation, and it’s not temporary.  Holter explains, “Foreigners are backing away from buying Treasuries.

HUGE April 8th Solar Eclipse Omen Revisited

Via State of the Nation

IRAN’S EPIC MOVE ON THE MIDDLE EAST
GEOPOLITICAL CHESSBOARD WAS CARRIED
OUT ON APRIL 13th, JUST 5 DAYS AFTER THE
SOLAR ECLIPSE

Submitted by Cosmic Convergence Research Group

According to some scientific systems of astrology, a total solar eclipse is quite predictable in one way in particular.

They take place as a foreshadowing of profound revelations about things which have been previously unknown or kept secret, traditionally mysterious or deliberately obfuscated.

These revelations, disclosures and/or uncoverings can occur on both the macrocosmic or microcosmic levels.  Similarly, they can unfold for the individual (or family or community), as well as for the many larger collectives (city, state, nation or world).

That Civil War Movie Is a Symptom of Hollywood’s Problems

Guest Post by Kurt Schlichter

I saw the new movie “Civil War” so you don’t have to. You’re welcome, and you owe me. Fifteen years ago this month, I started writing for the legendary Andrew Breitbart at Big Hollywood, where we drew attention to the increasing wokeness of Tinseltown. That’s why I saw this movie – to see if Hollywood had learned any lessons. I think it did, but it learned the wrong lessons.

Spoiler alert—it’s a bad movie, and you don’t want to see it. I’m going to tell you some of what happens, but you shouldn’t care because, if you’re smart, you’re going to listen to me and not spend money on it.

Judge Merchan’s Trial Will Destroy USA Like Trial of William Penn

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan is a seasoned jurist who is no stranger to Trump’s orbit. He has presided over the Trump Organization tax fraud trial, sentenced the former president’s close confidant Allen Weisselberg to prison over his role in the scheme, and overseen former Trump adviser Steve Bannon’s criminal fraud case. There is absolutely no question this judge is out of control, biased, and is orchestrating this trial to imprison Trump. He even expanded the gag order on Trump to protect his own daughter, who has admitted to having conversations with he father Ex Parte – totally illegal. Suppose I filed anything in the Supreme Court. Justice Sotomayor would instantly recuse herself because she was on an appeal I had and even disagreed with the government. The fact that she was in my case meant she would recuse herself. This judge is an international disgrace and should be removed from the branch – PERMANENTLY!

Russia Set to Outpace All Advanced Economies – Sanctions FAILED

Guest Post by Martin Armstrong

Putin XiSanctions and the removal of Russia from SWIFT have not deterred the Russian economy. A recent report by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that Russia’s economy will grow more in the next year than any other advanced economy.

The IMF believes Russia’s economy will grow by 3.2% in 2024, in comparison, the US is expected to grow by 2.7% while Europe’s top economy, Germany, is expected to grow by a mere 0.2%. Cutting off Europe from Russian energy backfired in a major way. Foreign investments have been pouring into Russia from the rest of the world, which is eager to join the rank of “advanced nation.”

Republican Speaker of the House Flushes US Constitution Down the Toilet

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

As I predicted on April 11, the police state got the Republicans to reconsider and to pass their warrantless spying and home entry. The Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson cast the deciding vote that nixed the warrant requirement.

This tells us all we need to know about Republicans. They are part of the problem.

The Purpose Of War According To George Orwell (1984)

Via ZeroHedge

Some food for thought from George Orwell’s ‘1984’…

Does anything really ever change? (emphasis ours)

The primary aim of modern warfare is to use up the products of the machine without raising the general standard of living.

“Indefinite Driving Bans”

Guest Post by Eric Peters

There is a German word – endsieg. It translates as “final victory.” In Germany, the final victory – against cars – will take the form of indefinite bans on driving them, says the German Transport Minister, Volker Wissing.

Down with Big Brother: Warrantless Surveillance Makes a Mockery of the Constitution

Guest Post by John W. Whitehead

“Whether he wrote DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER, or whether he refrained from writing it, made no difference … The Thought Police would get him just the same … the arrests invariably happened at night … In the vast majority of cases there was no trial, no report of the arrest. People simply disappeared, always during the night. Your name was removed from the registers, every record of everything you had ever done was wiped out, your one-time existence was denied and then forgotten. You were abolished, annihilated: vaporized was the usual word.”—George Orwell, 1984

The government long ago sold us out to the highest bidder.

The highest bidder, by the way, has always been the Deep State.

What’s playing out now with the highly politicized tug-of-war over whether Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act gets reauthorized by Congress doesn’t just sell us out, it makes us slaves of the Deep State.

Read the fine print: it’s a doozy.
