Robert Frost Helped Save My Marriage

The older I get, the more I appreciate just how well some people can write. There are people who post here that write so well that I can’t even come close to matching them. I would never be able to if I dedicated the rest of my life to it. Its a slow Sunday, there’s the usual coronavirus nonsense, I’m sure somewhere an Antifa or BLM person will toss a Molotov cocktail or two, but apparently that’s the reality we are in right now. I want to break from all that. Robert Frost died in 1963, but in my opinion, because this means this much to me, he is the greatest poet that ever lived. His writing I’m referring to:

Immigration Will Destroy Southern Red and Purple States

When most people think about problems stemming from immigration, they naturally think about the millions pouring across our southern border. Or the refugee program, H1B’s, etc. You should be concerned about those things, of course, and those concerns were one of two reasons I voted for Trump despite swearing to not vote for another republican after their treatment of Ron Paul. What I am speaking of, however, is the most dangerous “immigrants” possible coming to settle in your area: White liberals from a big city.

How the Left and Their Continued Lockdown Policies Killed George Floyd

For over a week now, we’ve been subject to continuous protests that quickly, and predictably, devolve into violence, riots, and looting. These are based on the questionable notion that George Floyd was killed by the cop kneeling on his neck after being arrested while resisting arrest. The medical examiner performed an autopsy and came to the conclusion that George Floyd died of a heart attack. The report listed hypertensive heart disease and coronary artery disease as underlying conditions, and apparently he had tested positive for Covid-19 back in early April, but was presented no symptoms. Where to Buy Those Extra AR Lowers, Folks

Well, this is embarrassing…. I logged on here intending to finish the post recommending people pick up a few stripped lowers. I had planned to add a few links at the end with a few good places to pick up AR lowers. To my surprise, when I got to the dashboard page, it was already online and had 36 comments. Oops. I have no idea how that post submitted other than one of my kids must have done it, so I feel a little silly. Usually I close my computer when I get up because my two year old likes to press buttons, but obviously not this time. So, here’s Part II.

Time to Buy a Few Extra AR Lowers, Folks

If you are like me, you’ve been following the rhetoric coming out of Washington lately with increasing concern. Without turning this into a political debate, I don’t trust Trump one single bit when it comes to the 2nd Amendment and gun rights. He’s already betrayed us once, he’s hinted at it again, and he has folded like a lawn chair numerous times. But, even if you do trust him and the rest of the GOP to stick up for your rights, its never a bad idea to hedge your bets, which I will show you how to do cheaply in this post.

Gator’s Question of the Day: Judge Kavanaugh

Would it REALLY be a good thing for the country if Judge Kavanaugh is confirmed? While I think these present accusations against him are bogus and not near the level required to ruin a man’s career, lost in the present circus are his very alarming views on government supremacy and the 4th Amendment.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2018/07/12/judge-andrew-napolitano-why-am-so-deeply-disappointed-by-trumps-supreme-court-pick.html

Judge Andrew Napolitano lays out the case in the above link. Most on here are not fans of the Patriot Act, and Judge Kavanaugh helped craft it. He is also of the mind that the President can do no wrong, and is apparently also believer in the line of thought that believes the government gives us our rights, and can take them away as it sees fit.

Steel Challenge, Another Fun Way To Spend a Sunday

Continuing on my previous post regarding shooting competitions, I will now give a quick tutorial on Steel Challenge. This is the most simple and least physically demanding of all types of shooting competitions I have engaged in. It’s a great way to dip your toe into this type of sport, so to speak. For this sport, there is generally no running, no movement of any kind. If you already shoot USPSA, or read my previous post regarding USPSA, the equipment required for both is the same.

For a first time competitor, its a much easier way to get started than USPSA as well. All of the running, speed reloads, stage planning, and shooting on the move is taken out.  Unless you empty a magazine while shooting these 5 targets, all reloads between strings of fire are done off the clock, removing the need to do that fast from the equation.

Looking for something to do on Sunday now that you no longer watch football?

I’d like to start this off by thanking Jim for allowing me to post here. I’ve been reading TBP for many years, and I’m humbled to be able to give something back. I’ve toyed with the idea of writing up a post on getting started in competitive shooting, and apparently I’m finally getting around to doing so. I originally intended on briefly describing each of the types of matches I shoot in one post, but it quickly turned into a much longer article than most would bother reading. My hope, with Admin’s blessing, is to post several articles, short enough that at least some of you guys will take the time to read them.

Several years ago, I discovered USPSA, and my interest in shooting sports has only grown. With the audience TBP attracts, I think I can safely assume many of you are gun enthusiasts. If you are looking for a better way to spend your Sundays than giving your eyes, money, and attention to a bunch of overpaid and pampered athletes who hate you, then you are reading the right post. Most of you probably have the most expensive item needed to participate in this sport – a handgun – and would not need to spend more than another $100 to be completely ready.
