AARON CARTER SUDDENLY DEAD AT THE AGE OF 34

Aaron Carter was another one of those Disney kids who became a drug addict. He was found dead in his bathtub today. He’d been in the news the past few years because of his struggle with addiction. He refused to take the Covid vaccine so I don’t think it was the clot shot. What’s really strange is that his last tweet was to Kanye West a day ago. Another star whacker incident or overdose?

He was responding to a tweet Kanye had posted outing his handlers. Kanye was claiming he was misdiagnosed with a mental illness and over medicated to keep him in line.

The Physics of Karma Transcends the Perfidy of Billionaires

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

When I was in second grade, my class took a field trip whereby we walked through a cemetery and the county fairgrounds.  We were strongly advised not to throw rocks by our gym instructor who was assisting our teacher on the trip.  He was a large muscular man and had a Swedish-sounding name.  He said to us kids:  “Don’t even THINK about throwing any rocks!  If any of you do, you will be in big, big, BIG trouble!”

Well, he should have never given me the idea. Because while walking through the fairgrounds, there were so many metal roofs on the buildings.  So I picked up a round heavy stone and lobbed it as high as I could before it landed on what sounded like a giant cymbal.

“Who did that?!” screamed the teachers as over 20 tiny fingers pointed my way.  The big gym teacher suddenly loomed over me, blocking out the sun.  “Why did you do that?!” he asked me in a loud voice.

Of course, I had no answer for him other than “I don’t know” which I stated simply while squinting up at him.  But I remember the feeling very well.  Today, it would be summarized as:  “Because, F*CK you, that’s why”.

Thus began my life of crime.

New Year’s Notions Loosely Liberated and to Some Extent in Sequence

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

You can’t stop what’s comin’. It ain’t all waitin’ on you. That’s vanity.

“No Country for Old Men”, 2007, Miramax Films

It’s a new year and time for new beginnings. But what does it mean exactly? Of course, it’s about time.  I mean, that’s the answer.  It is, truly, about time.  Think about it.  Time has a beginning, middle, and an end.  You were born, a bunch of stuff happened, a lot of stuff is going on now, and, soon, more things will occur. Right up to the end. The very end, that is.

Your kids hate your smartphone addiction

I can’t stay off my phone. And I’m afraid it’s hurting my 2-year-old son.

Sometimes it’s a breaking news story that draws me in, other times it’s boredom. Whatever it is, this device in my hands — which gives me access to nearly all human knowledge plus all the cat videos I could ever want — is constantly calling for my attention.

Setting boundaries with my smartphone hasn’t been easy. I’ll sometimes sneak a quick glance at headlines when I’m in line at the grocery store or when we’re waiting to see our son’s pediatrician. Once I tapped on an alert during a religious service.

Choose Love: Don’t Ever Let Fear Turn You Against Your Playful Heart

By Doug “Uncola” Lynn via TheBurningPlatform.com

The words in the title of this piece are not my own. Believe it or not, these are the words of actor and comedian, Jim Carrey, from the end of the video below.  It inspired this essay.

Quite often, I find myself considering what is called the ripples-in-the-pond effect. Like throwing a rock into a smooth body of water, the action (throwing the rock) creates a splash (consequence) that in turn releases ensuing vibrations (reactions) that ripple across the allegorical pond; which, I believe represents the fabric of space-time.  By this definition there are many variables that are enjoyable to think about.  The size of the rock or the number of throws, or actions, involved. For every splash, there are consequences; for good, or bad.

I’m Winning My Battle With Smartphone Addiction

Guest Post by Leonid Bershidsky

Mobile devices are easily adjustable. Brains are not.

Most of the research on phone addiction and deprivation is done on students. 1 It’s not just the “kids these days,” though. At 45, I’m a recovering addict. It’s been four months since I uninstalled social networking apps, three months since I last posted on Facebook, and two months since I turned off all notifications on my smartphone. Before I started the detox program, I checked my phone about five times an hour. That’s about half as often as the average millennial but about three times as often as most people of my generation in the U.S. Now, I’m down to once an hour.
