$21M Brooklyn field hospital never saw a patient amid coronavirus pandemic
A roughly $21 million Brooklyn field hospital authorized by the de Blasio administration at the height of the coronavirus pandemic opened and closed without ever seeing one patient, according to city officials.
The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in Red Hook was one of several sites across the five boroughs converted into a medical facility as a way to relieve the city’s overburdened hospital system as the COVID-19 crisis mounted.

De Blasio Announces System For Reporting Social Distancing Violations: Knowledgeable Actors Reporting Edict Noncompliance (KAREN)
NEW YORK, NY—At a press conference this morning, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled a new way that individual citizens can help enforce social distancing.
“It is up to every citizen to watch and monitor everyone else and report to the police anything they don’t like,” de Blasio said. “That’s why we have created a new enforcement program: Knowledgeable Actors Reporting Edict Noncompliance, or KAREN for short.”

In Scathing NYT Editorial, De Blasio Claims Amazon’s NYC Pull-Out “Proved Its Critics Right”
As the New York politicians who supported and helped negotiate the deal that would have brought Amazon to Queens stumble through the five stages of grief following the loss of what Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office once described as one of the greatest economic boons in recent NY history (which has been dominated largely by stories of companies and taxpayers fleeing the high-tax, high cost-of-living state for greener pastures in the Sun Belt), NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio has ratcheted up his criticism of the e-commerce behemoth for abandoning his city in the face of growing political pressure.
In an op-ed published by the New York Times, de Blasio again blasted Amazon and its CEO, Jeff Bezos, for “proving its critics right” by balking at demands from “Democratic socialists” like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other progressives that Amazon be forced to pay its “fair share” in taxes (and that the $3 billion tax-incentive package extended to Amazon would be better spent fixing the subway, failing to understand that this revenue will now never be collected since Amazon has opted to abandon Queens).

Potential US presidential contender thinks YOUR money is in the “wrong hands”
Guest Post by Simon Black
Grab your wallets. Bill de Blasio, the Mayor of New York City, may be lining up a presidential run. And in his State of the City speech last Thursday, he gave us a peak of what the future could have in store…
“Here’s the truth. Brothers and sisters, there’s plenty of money in the world. There’s plenty of money in this city. It’s just in the wrong hands.”
Brothers and sisters? In the wrong hands? REALLY, comrade de Blasio?!
The Mayor of New York City doesn’t think the people who earn the money should get to keep it.
For the time being, New York City is still the financial capital of the world, despite Bill de Blasio’s best efforts to change that.

Is Mayor de Blasio an Anti-Asian Bigot?
Guest Post by Patrick J. Buchanan
“Though New York City has one of the most segregated schools systems in the country,” writes Elizabeth Harris of The New York Times, until now, Mayor Bill de Blasio “was all but silent on the issue.”
He was “reluctant even to use the word ‘segregation.’”
Now the notion that the liberal mayor belongs in the same basket as Southern governors in the ’50s and ’60s like Orval Faubus of Arkansas and Ross Barnett of Mississippi seems a bit of a stretch.
For what Harris means by “segregation” is that in the city’s eight most prestigious schools, like Stuyvesant High School and the Bronx School of Science, where admission is by written test, the makeup of the student body does not remotely resemble the racial diversity of the city.
“Black and Hispanic students make up nearly 70 percent of the city’s public school students,” writes Harris, “but they received just 10 percent of offers for seats at specialized schools this fall.”
“About 27 percent of the offers went to white students who make up 15 percent of the student system; 52 percent went to Asian students, who up make 16 percent.”
Harris later adjusted her numbers. Asians are 62 percent of students. At Stuyvesant, only 10 of 900 students being admitted this fall are black.
