LOSING MY RELIGION

The Catholic Church is a corrupt institution that has allowed evil to flourish within its heirarchy. Nothing has changed. The evil men must be thrown in jail. Those who stand up for the Cardinals and Bishops who have covered up this evil are just as guilty. Power corrupts whether it be in government, finance or religious institutions.

Nun Calls Out Monsignor Lynn

A nun who was sexually abused as a minor by a predator priest called out Monsignor William J. Lynn Thursday from her perch on the witness stand.

It was a dramatic confrontation as the Archdiocese of Philadelphia sex abuse trial wrapped up its seventh week of testimony. Lynn is on trial for allegedly conspiring to endanger the welfare of children by allowing abusive priests to continue in ministry

All along, the defense mantra has been that the monsignor was just a cog in the wheel down at archdiocese headquarters on 222 N. 17th St., and that the ultimate villain in the case was the guy who wielded the ultimate power in the archdiocese, the conveniently dead Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua.

But the nun on the witness stand refused to play along.

It started when Thomas Bergstrom, a defense lawyer for Msgr. Lynn, tried to get the nun on cross-examination to agree that Msgr. Lynn did not have the power to remove a pastor who had sexually abused her and at least 10 other young women.

“He [Lynn] had the power to suggest it,” she said, referring to the removal of the pastor. And then on redirect, when the prosecutor asked her about the power Lynn had as the archdiocese’s secretary for clergy, the nun said that Lynn had the simple power of just saying no.

Instead of going along with the power structure, the nun said, “You can also say, I cannot do this.”

It was a simple, but powerful declaration coming from a nun who herself was an administrator down at archdiocese HQ, and also as a young woman, a victim of sex abuse from a pervert priest.

The nun, who did not want to be identified, wasn’t finished.

“I would think that his [Lynn’s] recommendation would be heard,”she told Assistant District Attorney Patrick Blessington. And if it wasn’t, Lynn could have told the cardinal, “I cannot go on; if it isn’t done that way, I can quit.”

The nun’s firm but understated conviction about the need to simply do the right thing sent a ripple of excitement through courtroom spectators, which included victims of sex abuse, and activists hoping for the impossible, reform in the Roman Catholic Church. It also raised an age-old question, namely why do the women in the Catholic church usually have more balls than the men?

Before she called out the monsignor, the nun told her story about how she had been abused by the notorious Father Nicholas V. Cudemo, a serial rapist who used mind control and guilt to dominate his victims.

The nun, dubbed “Sister Irene” in the 2005 grand jury report, was Father Cudemo’s second cousin. The priest also abused the nun’s sister, and a younger cousin, in addition to at least eight other young women.

The witness was 15 years old when Father Cudemo took her to baseball and basketball games at Archbishop Kennedy High School, where the priest was a teacher. While driving her home one night,  Cudemo pulled over, and started kissing her passionately. “He got on top of me,” the nun testified. “His hands were literally all over me.”

The witness told the jury that she had dated boys before, but had never experienced such “intense passion or strength.”

Then, when she was 16, it happened again. Father Cudemo drove her home, this time with a carload of other kids. While driving, he took her hand and “placed it on his penis strongly,” she said, and then he just held her hand there.

“I just went numb,” she said. Father Cudemo would call up the victim and tell her she was “his favorite cousin,” and he would explain his behavior by saying, “cousins have these kinds of relationships.”

In 1991, Sister Irene found out that Father Cudemo had sexually abused her younger cousin, identified in the grand jury report as Ruth. The abuse of Ruth began at 10, and included an abortion at 11. Sister Irene was shattered by the news.

“I really felt for the first time in my life I was confronting evil,” she told the jury. So the nun, her sister, and her cousin Ruth went to the archdiocese on Sept. 25, 1991, to report the abuse. They told Msgr. James E. Molloy, vicar for administration, and his assistant, Msgr. Lynn, that they wanted Father Cudemo removed from his post as pastor of St. Callistus Church.

Molloy told the victims, “It’s not that easy to remove a pastor at this time,” the nun told the jury. When the victims suggested the archdiocese notify parishioners at St. Callistus about what the priest had done to his victims, they were told it would be “defamation of character” and “calumny.”

putting animals (humans) who’s prime motivation is sex, into an environment where they can’t have it is just asking for trouble. Religion is dumb

@PD – I agree with your first sentence. A lot of the sexual misconduct by the clergy would disappear if those guys could go out and get a piece. I am NOT stating that pedarasts should be excused, merely that the problem wouldn’t have started in the first place if they were allowed to have relationships like a normal human being.

I do not agree that religion is dumb. I agree that aggressively forcing your faith onto someone else is a bull shit move, but I do not agree that religion itself is dumb. I believe our species needs religion (in some form). Individuals may not need it, but as a whole I believe we do.

@ThePessimisticChemist: Sorry bud, I learned that ll religion sucks bugshit by the time I was 18.

I have no clue why America (what’s left of it, anyhow) is so full of religiosity but since religion seems to be a mandatory requirement for humans to invent and use to explain things they don’t understand (or avoid the simple facts of death), I have given up trying to understand religiosity myself.

@MA – For me it was about age 7. I read the bible and started asking my mom and our priest questions. Their answers were “The Lord works in mysterious ways!,” but my mom made the mistake of using the same tone as when she explained her actions “because I’m the mom and you have to do what I say!”

My bullshit detector pegged out, and I “lost faith” as a result.

I think humanity needs religion because they need a couple things:

a) Faith. It makes them feel better to imagine that The Big Guy in the Sky is looking out for them.

b) Rule of law. People need some sort of code of ethics to abide by (even serial killers have their own bizarre codes) Religion provides a nice “scary” guy to keep people on the straight and narrow, and promises eternal reward for good behavior. For a lot of people thats enough to warrant belief.

There’s more to it than that, but that is a couple reasons I think religion is important to humanity.

PS: Whats truly amusing is that all of this hullabaloo (oh shit guys, thats apparently a real word according to my spell check!) is over a mistranslated and taken out of context two-thousand year old religious text.

@TPC: Good points and I agree with all of them.

The main problem with religion is that it’s evil. Any belief system that is “faith based” damages human minds. How? It slowly acclimates brains into believing things that are not science based and consequently are illogical at the base of it all.

Religion essentially requires people to “believe” that supernatural things do happen – which they don’t – and this, in turn opens minds to belief of other, shall we say, more worldly falsehoods.

Admin, being a good Catholic, is far more fiercely critical of the church than even I am because of the continuous and totally evil actions of pedophilia that stalks the sacristies of all Catholicism.

I grew up in a Catholic family, went to parochial school for 9 years, alter boy and all that stuff. When I hit 18, graduated high school (by then I was going to public school – and thought I’d gone to heaven after the beatings stopped) and went into the Navy… I never set foot in a church again and never will.

My problem now is that my views on religion have migrated to the right from a position of, “Oh well, let everyone do their own thing – it does no harm.” to a position of active animosity toward religion (that I mostly keep to myself) because I have come to realize that a vast majority of problems scattered throughout human history are a direct result of a religious belief system in fantasy that warps critical thinking in all other areas.

I break out in a cold sweat at the idea that the President of this country _M_U_S_T_ profess to be religious in order to be elected. What then is keeping him from acting on other false belief systems rather than science based fact? The answer is “nothing”.

What to do? DamnifIknow. I make my charitable contributions to secular institutions and keep my mouth shut (mostly) on the subject.. I have already made my position clear that I won’t even post comments on “God” threads – but since this one is about the church in general and pedophilia specifically, what the heck!

By the way, what are you pessimistic about?

I’ve always told people I’m a realist, they usually fire back with some “witty” retort about that just being a nicer way of saying “pessimist” so I started going by that moniker instead.

The major thing I’m pessimistic about is the continued existence of what SHOULD have been the greatest nation on Earth. Its devolved into two camps, the fat morons, happily munching on their meat by-products as they watch other fat people try to lose weight by eating things that aren’t meat by-products, and the much smaller camp of meat by-product providers and leeches that suck the blood out of their cattle-like herd of entranced viewers.

Us? We are the interface, the point at which the two meet. We are educate enough (and hopefully fit enough) to not belong to the cattle, but not rich or amoral enough to do the feeding. We are more like cattle dogs; we try to protect the herd as much as possible, but ultimately we know they are going to slaughter.

“The Catholic Church is a corrupt institution that has allowed evil to flourish…” Better to have written: “The Catholic Church is an institution in which evil exists….”. As it always will, humans and organizations being what they are. The actuarial evidence from insurance files shows less than 3% incidence of sexual abuse in all religions–Catholicism is in at about 2.3% BUT in Catholicism, most of the cases have been same sex–about 80%. For comparison, the teaching profession across the board runs about 12%–and even here same-sex exceeds male/female. This is not to defend evil–it always will speak for itself, though it often uses the tongue of someone else.

Your personal experience are you own and limited to you. Don’t try to pigeon-hole a 2500 hundred year practice just because of your fucked up childhood.
Sure there are Christians who are not perfect and then there are those posing as Christians in order to game the system , but the few atrocities that can be even remotely linked to Christianity is far out-weighed by the mass murder of millions committed by genocidal maniacs in the name of atheism just in the twentieth century.
As Joe Arpiio said, clean up around you own door first.

And the statement by the dick lick above who believe the prime motivations of all humans are sex and therefore people should overlook the deviant behavior being practiced by a culture out of control.

You compared the genocide of the Nazis and Commies from this century to millenia of genocide in the name of Christ.

The entire New World population was eradicated by Christians. Not just the people. Their faith. Their culture. Their history. Gone.

We were so thorough we can’t even estimate how many of them there were. Somewhere between 35-80 million people, 80% of which were estimated to be killed thanks to the God Fearing, Christ Loving European zealots.

Thats about 28-64 million people annihilated off the face of the planet. Thats just from the past 600 years by the way, thats not including The Crusades, and other various Christian atrocities.

And let us all not forget the 30 years War (Fought between Catholics and Protestants). Completely depopulated central Europe. The only reason more people didn’t die from it is because there weren’t as many people to kill back then. It certainly wasn’t for lack of effort.

The commies and the nazis were terrifying, and their unspeakable crimes against humanity are some of the worst seen this century. Defending yourself by saying “but they were worse” is idiocy.

PS: I know what it means to be a good christian. It means to kill your fucking neighbor if he doesn’t agree with you.

You really don’t know shit from shinalo ,do you junior? Hundreds of thousands of indians died from exposure to European viruses for which they had no immunity and the rest died due to conflicts associated with European expansion(i.e. disease and greed) neither of which had any relation to the Christian faith
Did you even go to college?
I’ll make this simple so even a retard like you can understand it .
The thirty years war culminating in the looting and pillaging of the Holy Roman Empire the newly organized Protestants was fomented by the Germanic princes desire to loot and pillage the Holy Roman church which they most effectively did . Again this conflict was based on idelolgy and greed more-so that religion .
Does you head really fit up your bung hole?

The crusades where of two purposes. One to push back the Muslim expansion into Europe, which were absolutely necessary if Western civilization was survive and you were to be here pissing and moaning about those bad old Christianity -.look it up fool -and two greed.
Richard the Lionhearted during the second crusade sought to make an alliance with Saladin by offering an alliance of their two kingdom by wedding his sister Joan to to Saladins’ brother

I was, my little troll, I most certainly was. It was…..lacking. Even worse than public school actually.

My point about all of those atrocities is that it was christians (I didn’t know which cult you ascribed to, thanks for clearing that up!) who perpetrated them.

It doesn’t matter how or why, its that they did. It also doesn’t matter which cult it was, just as we do with all other religions, I just lump together to make things easier on myself.

You are truly a cute little man. “Pissy chemist?” My friend, your panties are so bunched up they are currently invading your upper GI tract.

“Bitch boy,” a clever moniker, it makes me sound like an up and coming pimp. Cool, right?

One of things I value the most on this board is the higher level of discourse it offers. So what exactly are you doing here? If anyone even REMOTELY offends your faith, you go nucular (spelling intentional) and start spouting pure vitriol.

“I’m in a rush,I have company, but if you want I’ll be glad to come back and kick your sniveling ass all across this board.”

Ah, see thats where you are wrong. There is no kicking. There is no violence. We are two people on the internet, I’m hundreds if not thousands of miles away from you. You can punch and scream at your keyboard all day, but I truly do not feel a thing. You are angry that I do not think Christianity is the end all be all of faith. I’m the ignorant and unlearned one? Ironic, to say the least.

Admin-"The coverup continues to this day. I don’t give a flying fuck about actuarial evidence. I care about the children who were fucked, raped and had their lives destroyed by these evil men – who still control the Catholic Church."

My family on both sides is as Catholic as it gets, going back for a very long time. When all of this really started getting out, my family left the faith in droves.

All of my mom's side was educated in the same Catholic school. It turned out that the guy who was in charge of things had been molesting little boys for generations. Dozens of people my mom/aunts/cousins went to school with had been molested if not raped.

Then, when the Catholic Church did nothing, my family finally lost their faith in the Roman Catholic Church. One went atheist. Another went Buddhist. The rest are Lutheran.

It was really rough on my family. Faith had been an integral part of their bonds, and to have it shaken shook the very fabric of my family.

It is perfectly obvious to both TPC and me that you are spouting off bull shit smoke as a cover for no practical arguments – very much like a politician, in fact.

There is no point to it. Religion is evil in all its’ aspects for reasons I set out above. A lot of people still believe in it – that’s their privilege in a more-or-less free country. Those that make a production of their religion as an end-al, be-all have nothing but my sympathy as they are doomed to disappointment when they die and find themselves dead. By then, of course, it matters not to anyone except those who suffered at the hands of the “believers” on our wandering path of life that simply ends one way – death. To quote Looney Tunes, “Tha-tha- thats all folks!”.

You are not so obnoxious normally, flash.. Try and keep your balance and furnish a less eruptive argument next time.

Actually Flash, any time someone says anything that can be construed as “anti-faith” you come in guns a blazin.

You are afraid my little friend, deathly afraid. People with real faith don’t need to shout it from the rooftops, or scream at people “I BELIEVE”….they just do.

The admin doesn’t flap his jaws about it, his faith is his own, and he encourages the discourse that revolves around the faith/anti-faith arguments.

MY stance is well documented, and from a scientific standpoint the most logical.

You have YOUR faith, yet yours compels you to put on blinders, and scream at passersby.

As for ironical statements, yours reads like someone desperately trying to define the word through written example:
==========
“No one is asking you to be a Christian, and consequently no one wants to hear your snarky vitriol about one’s faith that you don’t share”
==========
Snarky vitriol? You are the aggressor. And have been, for many posts. Again, you seem like someone who is afraid we will realize that you aren’t Christian, merely acting.

==========
“You can’t have it both ways.Which is is it then?Atheist founding a secular nation killing injuns or Christians versu injuns?”
==========

A valid point, our secular nation also perpetrated atrocities upon the natives of the land. However, the numbers annihilated by the US government pale in comparison to the raw numbers the spanish killed in central/south America. I count transmitted disease as part of that, as disease warfare has been documented back to the 1200s easily, and even earlier if you get creative with your historical interpretation.

My point was that heinous acts have been perpetrated in the name of religion as well. Your website accurately reflects the atrocities of the governments of the world, I do not disagree with that, but what it fails to mention is how many people have died as a direct result of religious conflicts over the millenia.

In short: Grow up, and act like the man you proclaim to be. Until I see otherwise, I will stick by my earlier assessment that you are a child who accidentally discovered a website that makes you feel smart for being apart of it.

Tampa shit-eater,

I’m am no baptist and never attend church , but I know and respect a lot of Christians who welcome people down and out on the luck into their homes ,feed them and will give them shirt off their backs and money to spend if they need it .

And these people contribute their time and money to the poor community on a regular basis.I don’t see any local organization of atheist feeding anyone at anytime.

From my personal experience, I also know many atheists, but in stark contrast these people only prey on the weak and never put anything back.

Now if I were to encounter an atheist prick terrorizing a harmless christian , most whom will not put up an effective defense would I rip their face of?
Yes ,without hesitation.
And, I am quite experienced and capable.

I fight for the underdog..see Ron Paul.
I’m just wired that way.

Does that satisfy you butt sucking assumption?

The Catholic church has done more in the service of humanity by educating ,feeding and housing hundreds of thousands of poor people globally than has any atheist run institution on earth,in history
See Mao , Stalin and the murder of 120 million people for examples of atheist good will.

It’s a shame that the influx of deviant home priests brought on by liberalism coupled with militant atheism putting pressure on the Catholic church during the 60’s and 70’s has left the church with such a tarnished reputation. I doubt the Catholic church will ever recover from the shame bought on by perverts exercising their “prime motivation” .
Yes,

The church fed, educated and housed hundred of thousands of poor across the globe poor which is more than i see loud mouthed atheists doing anywhere.
But I’m sure prissy the self-god prefers the Maria Antoinette model of “let them eat cake”.

Just noticed that’s a convertible, my favorite in a two door impala. Man the days of real muscle cars, young people have no idea what that was like.

67 was a great year for cars.

@flash: Nuts.. I do not condemn Christians, Jews or Muslims (Islam, I do).. I’m a non-religion generalist and on a sliding scale, dislike to hate them all. Buddhism is another story. Nobody can argue your position that some religious based groups do good things like feed people or whatnot.

The very same thing would happen without religion because human nature is, for the most part, generous and caring to a fault. (It’s the other lesser part of human nature that get’s us in trouble).

This just re-enforces my (failing) pledge not to comment on “God” threads because most people’s minds are set in concrete (such as yours, flash) and no rational argument is going to change that. So why bother… (Admin loves these kind of threads because it gets people riled up and keeps the action level right up there for TBP. Don’t blame him a bit..)

Hardly Sens, I’m just not going to “argue” with poor Mister Flash any longer. The poor fucker is so ignorant he is making dumber just for discussing things with him.

I wonder how many times he’s shown up on People of Wal-mart?

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” C.S Lewis

@ the pissy phlegmist

Pissy I just wanted to thank you again for opening up eyes to what uneducated , ignorant and delusional fools the fairy sky god reversible really are.

There’s this one , particular repulsive dumbass propagator of ‘evil’ (per muck about) C.S Lewis who sought to spread this sky fairy god malarkey all across the globe.

Damn fool , Clive never accomplished nothing in his miserable life outside of dabbling in a little mathematics and dime store novels. Thank you O’ great Pissy for teaching us that retards of the CS Lewis ilk are to be scorned and ridiculed for ignorant and stupid beliefs.

If only the ignorant fairy god worshipers could read your magnum opus as published in the TBP comment section, the entire galaxy would be a better place and even blood thirsty Klingons would fall and worship at the self-god’s feet.

I now see your college decreed intellect and reason as compared to some such dullard as Lewis as being superior in all respects.

Forgive me O’ self-god if I have offended thee. I am not worthy to stand in your light.

Flush….. It’s too bad that Monsenior Faggot didn’t shove his dick up your ass because you might think differently about organized cults and the damage that they inflict upon society. Your argument that the catholic church has done great things for humanity is bullshit. Crusades anyone?

yes, you can shove your Catholicism up your virgin ass tyvm. I don’t need a preacher, priest, or the likes of your dumbass to tell me how/what to worship.

Allah wants to eat your dog.

FYI, that dick asss thing didn’t happen to me but once when I left class to go get alter Boyd up for a funeral, I did catch Fr. Dittman porking an eight grade boy.

So shove your organized religion and your organ up your ass, Flush.

Allah likes it in the ass.

Tampa shit-eater-

Regardless your twisted logic , Christianity and faggotry are not compatible.

Sure, the Catholic church turned queer(not gay) after decades of allowing secular oriented dooky bandits into their seminaries and priesthoods, but not being a Catholic myself I have no way of knowing if homo reprises are the majority or not. And could care less, the question of Catholic priests engaging in pederasty is irrelevant to the religion of Christianity which decrys abnormal sexual behavior as an abomination unto God.

But that’s what happens when you let the college decreed intelligentsia into your church and schools preaching that the Holy bible is more a collection of fable to study than a moral code with which to base your life.

And , just so you’re not further confused ass breath .
Christianity and the catholic church are not one and the same.Ones a church , the others a religion.Get it straight.
And don’t even get into the reasons and causation behind the the Crusades , because you really haven’t a friggin’ clue and likely never will.

BTW again, just another attempt to clear up your extreme confusion.

There is nothing in the bible that instructs Fr. Dittma to bone an 8 grade boy nor condones its.
Christianity is a test of one’s faith by fire , not conditional to only a blessed life and not wickedness. There were people burned to death, flayed and fed to lions who never once renounced their faith.
And yours was tested by a homo priest.

Lev. 18:22, “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”1

Lev. 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltness is upon them”

1 Cor. 6:9-10, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.”

Rom. 1:26-28, “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper.”

He who fears God cannot be coerced by the state. 2
Posted by Ann Barnhardt – May 11, AD 2012 5:54 PM MST

Now for the punchline in all of this. Why does this matter? Why are Marxsits and homosexualists so massively invested in obscuring and denying the role of Christ as the Fearsome Judge of Mankind?

Because the Marxists and homosexualists want you to fear NOT GOD, but fear ONLY THE STATE.

A man who fears God CANNOT BE COERCED BY THE STATE.

Thus, Fear of the Lord has GOT TO GO.

Let’s get pragmatic, folks. You know that this government is no longer in any way legitimate. You know that Obama is himself illegitimate and that the Constitution has been completely overthrown and discarded. You know that the regime in Washington is evil and is now MANDATING that you participate in, cooperate with, and SUBSIDIZE pure abject evil, not the least of which is the slaughter of unwanted children. You know this. And yet, I am probably the only person you know that has publically declared a tax strike. Why? Well, for you bloggers, look at your comment threads whenever you post anything I write. “That chick is nuts. The IRS is going to put her in prison, or the DHS is going to pay her a “visit” one of these days, and they’ll find her dead in her bathtub. I don’t think she knows what she is getting herself into.”

The fact of the matter is that I possess the far superior clarity of thought. Why? Because I FEAR GOD.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is prudence. Proverbs 9:10

I fear His Judgement. I fear the moment of having to look into His eyes as He hangs skinned and crucified before me, because of me, and experience the full force of the pain that I have caused Him by my BETRAYAL of Him. It just so happens that now, in this time, submission to the evil state, borne from a greater fear of the state than of God, is a BETRAYAL OF CHRIST.

If Christ has been reduced to a slobbering, castrated pet dog, and not the Just Judge of Sinners, then the ONLY thing that people will fear will be the state. There won’t even be a tension in the minds of the people. People will do anything that the state tells them to do not only because they fear the wrath of the IRS or other government arm, but also because they have been convinced that they can betray God without limit, and like a stupid, abused dog, Jesus will “slobber them with kisses” while they make the CONSCIOUS, CONSIDERED DECISION to beat the shit out of Him and nail Him to the Cross at the explicit command of the state. They will do this because they fear exclusively the wrath of the state and not the Pierced, Burning, Sacred Heart of Jesus. Ask any Christian you know today if they are willing to declare and enjoin a tax strike against the government, and you will see that the state is feared completely, and that Fear of the Lord has been utterly purged from the ranks of the Church Militant.

An army that completely fears its enemy, and has no fear or respect for its own supreme commander or his orders will be defeated. Swiftly.

The only thing that the people of the United States, from the “devout” Christian (including the vast, vast majority of priests and bishops) to the neo-pagan Superfun Rockband church™ denizen to the atheist, fear is the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Homeland Security. If the state says, “pay for abortions, or else”, the people will do it, and to hell with the stupid, slobbering, impotent Jesus. If the state says, “Sodomy is normal and good, and you will celebrate it, or else”, the people will do it and to hell with the stupid, slobbering, impotent Jesus. I can beat the shit out of Jesus, and He will never do anything but “slobber me with kisses.” I don’t even have to say “sorry.” Father said so in his homily last Sunday. He even put it in the bulletin.

Unless and until this highly disordered condition is corrected and Fear of the Lord reclaims supremacy in the hearts of men, there is NO HOPE for this nation. None.

The good part of human nature is an exception rather than a rule. If you want to see real human nature then you should come to the east – India and other eastern countries – where Christianity’s moral code has not influenced the society. You will find that human beings are for the most part bad and evil with the exception of a few altruistic ones. I have lived in the West for about 3 years and the difference in the cultural and moral standards can only be explained by the influence of Christianity and specifically Evangelical Christianity. Having experienced both cultures, I do not find any other explanation.

Now is the West losing out on morality in society – I believe Yes and it will continue to lose till Christianity again gets a foothold into the society. I don’t see that happening anytime soon and so it will be a downward slope for Western societies from here. I also believe mainstream Christianity in the West deserves to lose out because of the greed and lust that has crept into the church and rules it.

My forefathers were Hindus who converted to the orthodox church from where I made the journey to the evangelical movement. So maybe I have a bias here. But hear what a colleague told me after being in the US for a few days “The people here are generally more honest than in our country”.

You may claim it is secularism, humanism, and what not. Hinduism and Jainism and Buddhism are atheistic religions (Those do not believe in a creator apart from the creation), and India is a very secular society, but it has not helped the society much. You may say Buddhism is a great religion but you need to live in the great Buddhist societies to understand how good it is – China, Tibet, Burma.

The West has received immense benefits from Christianity – especially the protestant reformation, the evangelical revivals, the great awakenings, the missionary movements, the puritan movement, the Moravian movement – whose influence still remains in the society, but it will not be very long before your future generation will experience a society without the moral compass of Christianity and then they will realize the importance of the contribution the godly men of the previous generations.
