Today is the 50th anniversary of the JFK assassination. I remember it well. I shit my pants when it happened. That was because I was six months old. I do remember pointing out to my parents that there seemed to be someone shooting from the grassy knoll, but they just ignored my gibberish.
I became fascinated by the assassination when I was a teenager and read some books and saw various documentaries. I also listened to the tape from the open microphone of one of the police motorcycles. I heard many more shots than were described in the Warren Commission Report. I have since visited Dallas, been in the Book Depository Building at the window where Oswald fired the shots, stood on the grassy knoll, and assessed for myself whether he acted alone. Based on the facts and percentages of hitting someone twice at that distance in a moving vehicle, I always believed there was a second shooter.
And, of course, the Seinfeld Magic Lugi episode clarified the issue.

When Jackie clambered on the trunk of the car she was retrieving the back part of JFK’s skull. She carried this to the hospital and held it in case the doctors needed it….they didn’t. Just finished a book that lays out the assassination pretty clearly, parties involved and their means and motive. So obviously a conspiracy. “Who Really Killed Kennedy” by Jerome Corsi. Well documented. Why isn’t he on television countering O’Reilly and his Oswald meme? Chapter two of the book really summarizes why a lone assassin, let alone an amateur like Oswald, could not have done it. Craig Roberts, a marine sniper in Vietnam, wrote the 1994 book: “Kill Zone: A Sniper Looks at Dealey Plaza” He said, “The reason I KNEW that Oswald could not have done it, was because I could not have done it.” Also, one of the paragraphs in this chapter (and why I have always believed Oswald didn’t fire a shot that day) states:
“The one final element needed (for the shooter) was experience. This could not be the first kill for any of the shooters or their accomplices. The adrenalin flow in seeing JFK alive and knowing you were about to assassinate the president of the United States required steely nerves only a proven sniper with a track record of success would have. An accurate sniper shot requires a smooth and precise trigger pull. Only shooters with the demonstrated ability to remain dispassionate and calculating–a skill not reliable without a proven track record–could get this particular job done. An amateur could be expected to fumble with the bolt action loading of an old World War II Italian Army rifle. Moreover, a high-powered scope that filled the shooter’s vision with a highly magnified vision of a small part of the target’s body might make finding and locking on the target more difficult for an amateur. One foul up and the target might be wounded but not killed, or the shooter might be detected and brought into custody. 1. Oswald was NOT a trained sniper.
2. The Carcano is arguably the junkiest boltgun ever foisted on an army.
3. The Carcano was scoped, but NOT ZEROED. Do you know what that means?
4. Target was at an unknown distance and moving at an oblique angle away from the shooter. Know what that means? It means you not only have to aim in front of your target, but also above it, which is kind of difficult to do, since you can guess what the range is at any given moment, but it will change the next moment…
5. Oswald allegedly shot from the book repository… depository.. whatever… what it means is that he was shooting downhill… which changes the point of impact relative to point of aim.
6. Given all this, Oswald got off 3 shots in 5 seconds (thereabouts) and scored two hits, including a head shot…
It would take 15 consecutive miracles for him to pull that off… and he probably had a jacked up heart rate from moving boxes of books, making his hide… and also jacked on adrenaline from the thought of what he was about to do…
So… If I give you a junky rifle that hasn’t been zeroed at all, and tell you to shoot at a target the size of a person’s head, which just happens to be at an unknown distance, moving at an unknown speed at an oblique angle away from you, AND you have to do it shooting downhill, AND you have to get 3 shots off in 5 seconds…. could you do it?

Let me show you why you are wrong as I tear your post into little pieces of failure…

– It’s Marine CORPS. Not “Core”.
– Oswald was a Radar Operator, NOT Combat Infantry and certainly no “sniper”.
– Oswald was, at best, a mediocre shot. From Wiki:
“Like all Marines, Oswald was trained and tested in shooting and he scored 212 in December 1956, slightly above the requirements for the designation of sharpshooter. In May 1959 he scored 191, which reduced his rating to marksman.”
– Oswald left the Marines in ’59. Kennedy was assassinated in ’63, over four years later. “..not long out of the Marine Core.”? Shooting is a perishable skill and without constant training, your skill deteriorates. He fled to the Soviet Union in 59, and I’m PRETTY SURE they don’t have regular training sessions at the local rifle range for defectors…
There are other vets on this board other than me. From previous posts, you know I was a Lifer, about half of that spent in Infantryland. Like any Infantryman, if you show promise and there is a need (and budget), you are sent to certain schools… I HAVE those schools. You memorize important minutae – things like your comeups at different ranges, what different rounds do at different distances, why your POI is different than your POA if you are aiming uphill or down, wind drift and, at extreme ranges, how the turning of the earth under your bullet as it flies affects where it will impact (a phenomenon coined “rolling on air” by the early buffalo hunters)… and then, just because you are human and humans forget stuff, you tape your comeups and holdoffs to the left side of your rifle butt with acetate as a quick reference…
It’s a good bet that Oswald probably knew none of that. Now throw in the fact that the Carcano is a piece of shit rifle. I would use one as a tomato stake, but only if I had to. His rifle was UNZEROED- meaning it could hit any-fucking-where. Even if he had it boresighted, it would still need to be zeroed with the ammo he was going to use because different ammo behaves differently out of the same rifle. Even “identical” ammo will differ from lot to lot (which is why serious marksmen buy ammo by the lot, or just forgo that and handload using the most consistent components), meaning they will shoot to a different POI.
His target was moving, which is difficult enough, but it was moving at an oblique angle- moving left to right, but away from him at an angle. A very difficult shot.
He was aiming downhill. I do not know the exact angle, but it was significant enough to change his POA/POI… so, he had to lead his target, but aim above it, yet take into account that it’s moving away from him, and that he was aiming downhill…
Oswald didn’t have the training or the professional chops to make that shot. No way in HELL. The Marines were training at the time with the Garand and the M14, neither of which has a scope.
And, the last point- the human factor.
You ever been in combat? A shoot/no-shoot situation? Ever been hunting? Know what “buck fever” is?
Your heartbeat accelerates. So does your breathing. Your palms sweat. Adrenaline floods your system. Even for highly trained guys, these are issues. The rifle butt sits on the artery running through the shoulder, so your heartbeat actually moves the rifle. You try to remember ‘breathe in, breathe out, sight picture, breathe in, breathe out, hold it… squeeze the trigger”… and your body is fighting you the whole way…
Oswald didn’t have the chops to make the shot. He was a pogue. The only thing he ever did in his life that was worth a shit was leave the United States.
Even by looking at the raw footage, it appears the point of impact was on JFK’s forehead. His entire skull was ripped off.
But if he was shot from the depository, wouldn’t the back of his skull be blown off?
It’s a shame that defenders of the Establishment can even have the courage to come on TBP and spew reasoning for why Oswald was capable of firing a precision shot at a downward angle while the vehicle was moving. Especially after we’ve seen our country devolve into a decaying welfare/warfare state the past 13 years. After we’ve seen the World Trade Centers come down in what was unmistakenably a controlled demolition. Especially after we’ve invaded foriegn countries like Iraq and have found no evidence of WMDs, as proposed by the traitor Bush. Especially after our country has consistently spent more then 52 percent of our national budget on war when most countries couldn’t challenge us even if our budget was 15 percent, much less a group of ragtag “terrorists”, our purported enemy.
Especially after we’ve seen our national debt double under Obama, and our currency continously becoming less valuable as inflation invades our supermarkets.
Would a sound leadership allow all of this to happen? Would a sound leadership tap the electronic airwaves of our innocent citizens and their allies? Use government agencies to target those that are speaking out against the corruption?
Pretty soon, the internet may even become censored. And sites like this will cease to exist.
