I was maybe 14, we were on our way to Canada and my grandparents were pulling their rig as well. We stopped for the night at a rest stop in nowhere Minnesota, some kids were driving through, second trip by the adults knew they were trouble. About midnight they came back and tried to steal the generator off the back of our trailer. I woke up watching my dad exit the trailer with his shotgun, he let a blast go up in the air, my 65 year old grandma was there and had her double barrel in the face of one kid that hit the dirt. Grandpa had his .41 mag and cracked the leader in the side of the head when he got up and acted like Barney badass. The third guy started to run and grandma swung her shotgun like a bat hit him in the chest and he hit the dirt, grandma yelled, Next one to move gets both barrels!
45 seconds it was all over, but damn did those old folks move. Grandpa hog tied them and another couple drove in to call the cops, imagine the surprise when the local sheriff pulled up to see his bloody hog tied kid.
I carry grandpas deer rifle and grandmas double barrel. Those two were fantastic.
