“I am my brother’s keeper, and what they are doing is just heartless.”
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Three charitable volunteers, including a 90-year-old man and two Christian ministers, were dragged away in handcuffs after illegally feeding the homeless in Fort Lauderdale.
The ringleader of the criminal charity work is Arnold Abbott, 90, who runs a non-profit organization called “Love Thy Neighbor.” Since 1991, the Christian man has been making hundreds of meals per week in the kitchen of his church and distributing them to the sizable homeless population.
The organization is “based on two very simple concepts,” his website states. “We believe that ‘We are our brother’s keeper’ and we should ‘Love thy neighbor as thyself.’”
Mr. Abbott was arrested on Sunday, November 2nd, 2014, along with Sanctuary Church’s Pastor Wayne Black and another minister. The three outlaws now face hundreds of dollars in fines or up to 60 days in jail.
“One of police officers came over and said ‘Drop that plate right now,’ as if I was carrying a weapon,” Mr. Abbott told WPTV.
The volunteers were arrested because of Fort Lauderdale’s new ordinance, which restricts acts of charity committed within 500 feet away from residential properties — effectively prohibiting feeding the homeless throughout the entire city.
Mayor Jack Seiler callously defended the ordinance, saying, “We enforce the laws here in Fort Lauderdale.” He claims that the strict rules “reduce the public safety hazards” and “ensure the health, safety and welfare of our community.”
But Mr. Abbott says he is unwilling to turn a blind eye to the homeless, drawing his inspiration from The Bible.
“As a Christian, it’s pretty clear,” Mr. Abbott said to NBC News. “Feed thy sheep. Take care of them.”
“I know that I will be arrested again, and I am prepared for that,” said Abbott. “I am my brother’s keeper, and what they are doing is just heartless.”
Fort Lauderdale isn’t alone in its absurd prohibition of charity work. Daytona Beach recently banned feeding the homeless because it undercuts need for government agencies.
Economist: Financial Collapse Will Cause Civil Unrest to Erupt In America By 2016
Paul Joseph Watson
Economist Martin Armstrong is predicting that rising resentment against the status quo as a result of economic inequality is likely to cause a serious political uprising before 2016.
“It looks more and more like a serious political uprising will erupt by 2016 once the economy turns down. That is the magic ingredient. Turn the economy down and you get civil unrest and revolution,” writes Armstrong.
In making the forecast, the economist cites the case of 90-year-old World War 2 veteran Arnold Abbott, who is being targeted by authorities in Fort Lauderdale for defying a newly passed city ordinance that criminalizes feeding the homeless, an example says Armstrong of how “laws in the USA have simply gone nuts.”
Armstrong, who correctly predicted the 1987 Black Monday crash as well as the 1998 Russian financial collapse, asserts that the downfall of the system will be its inability to gauge the anger that Americans currently feel towards their government.
“You just cannot make up this stuff. And the Democrats cannot figure out that the people are getting pissed-off at who is ever in office? And what about the police?” asks Armstrong. “Is this just turning into thugs with badges who just enforce whatever law some nut-job politician writes? What if they passed a Herod type law to curb population and decree that everyone must kill their first-born. When does reason ever return to the police force these days? They no longer protect the people – they protect the politicians against the people.”
As we reported back in August, the U.S. Army is preparing for civil unrest in the United States. A 132-page document entitled U.S. Army Techniques Publication 3-39.33: Civil Disturbances outlines how troops may be required to deal with “unruly and violent crowds” where it is “necessary to quell riots and restore public order.”
Riots which rocked Ferguson, Missouri earlier this year and threaten to reignite should Officer Darren Wilson be acquitted illustrate how single events can spark sustained social unrest.
However, more widespread dislocation is only likely to occur in the aftermath of an economic collapse which impacts a huge number of Americans. As we have seen in numerous countries across Europe, including in Belgium just today, crippling austerity measures combined with anemic economic growth have set the stage for violent unrest.
In a February 2013 article entitled Why the Banking Elite Want Riots in America, we outlined why the political class is perfectly content to engineer and exploit social unrest as a means of paving the way for the IMF to engage in its tried and tested method of asset stripping and looting a nation.
With polls showing some 74% of Americans are already angry or dissatisfied with the government, further economic hardship could prove to be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
We must at least remove the cover of legality from the elite. Force them to show what thugs they really are. When they take someone to court and charge them with an unjust law……………………
JURY NULLIFICATION
Whatever President gets next elected will preside over the most momentous times we’ve seen since the Great Depression and WW2.
Will freedom win, or will we get even more totalitarian?
Unfortunately these ‘homeless’ invade Fort Lauderdale – cause it’s the big warm and easy. They shit and piss everywhere, leave litter, and are petty thieves.
These fuckers gotta move on!

Like Ft. Lauderdale (I love those manatees), Tucson is also the big warm and easy, as is Phoenix. So we also have a big problem with the homeless. And there is yet one more huge sector of folks who mimic the habits of the homeless. They’re called illegal aliens, some of whom rape, rob, murder, kidnap, sell illegal drugs and invade homes. And instead of manatees, we have fucking rattlesnakes. Try that on for size.
Cold weather thins the herd of bums quite nicely each year in my part of paradise. We still have bums during the winter but they just walk up the hill to their $200k houses each evening after panhandling all day.
@SSS: ” They’re called illegal aliens, some of whom rape, rob, murder, kidnap, sell illegal drugs and invade homes.”
I’ve had it with the fucking Mexicans. Don’t want any of their crap food, or music, or customs (is crime a custom?).
We have our fair share in Minnesota.
What they do is invade a little rural burg where there’s some kind of food processing plant, and take the low wage jobs. Over night a town of 2,500 will have 500 of these people – completely fucks up the school system.
How many Mexicans does it take to eat a rabbit? Two. One to eat it, the other to watch for cars.
I laugh when read about people saying Tuscon is a great place to live. If you like gangs and lot’s of homeless people. Car’s getting stolen for a one way trip to Mexico.
If you don’t feed people i think the crime rate goes up. Hungry people are desperate, scary people.
In a SHTF situation, this will be one of the biggest problems to deal with.
Fools… they should’ve said they were Muslims and it was required part of their religion. It would’ve changed in a heartbeat.
Who do you guys really feel safe with? The Jack Booted authoritarians? Any of the other alphabet authoritative agencies? 4% of the worlds population and 25% of the worlds prison population. Use your heads for something other than a hat rack for crying out loud!!!
Thanks for letting me vent!
I thought bums in South Florida just ate the faces off of other bums. Thy shouldn’t arrest anyone or giving out food, but they should arrest the bums for pissing in public. That’s why you work hard and buy a house – so you can piss in your own yard.
Fort Lauderdale has a long tradition of getting a new mayor–usually an evangelical Republican–who wants to make sure no one has any fun. Years ago, they shut down college spring break by telling their thugs to harass and arrest college students for every possible minor infraction. Took one season, but they got rid of the college students in favor of “upscale” travelers whose accommodations are usually built with tax subsidies (“job creation” bs). This mayor is of the same ilk. He drew a line and won’t back down. Of course, he’s not out there doing the arrests. You can tell the cops aren’t happy that they’ve been sent out there either. Eventually the voters will throw the mayor out, tired of his petty controversies tarnishing the city.
Yes, there is a bum problem and Ft. Lauerdale–esp. the downtown–has a population of entrepreneurial alcoholics who are probably happiest on the streets and would resist most attempts at gov. help. 30 or so used to populate the downtown library’s lawn. Fort Lauderdale is a nice clean suburban entity, but despite the image, they don’t take care of the areas destined for the lower classes well. Check out the filth in the men’s room bathrooms at the bus station just a few blocks from the mayor’s office.
Iska,
Yes, pissing on your own property is born free. The only thing that would make me feel better is pissing on a copfuk and getting away with it.
