News Papers today and their relative value

The list below is what I think of the current batch of national newspapers which is not very much.  The very same critical evaluation of news networks on the idiot box produces a very similar list (albeit for RT who stands out like search light peering into dark corners). HLN now broadcasts reality shows when no indecent Hollywood action is in the works (Like “What Would You Do?”  – and who really gives a good crap!).

We are sliding in general public intelligence and ability to critically evaluate anything  year over year as our school systems slide ever lower in its’ ability to teach our kids. Every graduating class has a lower bar to crawl under to enable the young women and men to —- do what?

Muck’s minute could run into an hour if I let that get lose in the conversation..

An easy guide to keeping political news in perspective.

1. The Wall Street Journal is read by the people who run the country.

2. The Washington Post is read by people who think they run the country.

3. The New York Times is read by people who think they should run the country, and who are very good at crossword puzzles.

4. USA Today is read by people who think they ought to run the country but don’t really understand The New York Times. They do, however, like their statistics shown in pie charts.

5. The Los Angeles Times is read by people who wouldn’t mind running the country, if they could find the time — and if they didn’t have to leave Southern California to do it.

6. The Boston Globe is read by people whose parents used to run the country and did a poor job of it, thank you very much.

7. The New York Daily News is read by people who aren’t too sure who’s running the country and don’t really care as long as they can get a seat on the train.

8. The New York Post is read by people who don’t care who is running the country as long as they do something really scandalous, preferably while intoxicated.

9. The Miami Herald is read by people who are running another country, but need the baseball scores.

10. The San Francisco Chronicle is read by people who aren’t sure if there is a country or that anyone is running it; but if so, they oppose all that they stand for. There are occasional exceptions if the leaders are gay, handicapped, minority, feminist, or atheist dwarfs who also happen to be illegal aliens from any other country or galaxy, provided of course, that they are not Republicans.

11. The National Enquirer is read by people trapped in line at the grocery store.

12. The Seattle Times is read by people who have recently caught a fish and need something to wrap it in.

I could go on and on right down to the local rag who has an editor who can’t edit, no copy readers and does not know the meaning of “proof reading”!

MuckAbout,
I’m surprised that you read or are familiar with so many MSM newspapers. It seems like a great waste of your time.
Everyday I read the sports page of the NeoCon mouthpiece, “The War Start Journal,” and glance at its news articles and book review(s). But that’s it for the State’s propaganda.
I know, I know, the WSJ is a great waste of my time but like you, maybe, I’m addicted to a get-going morning routine that includes a stop at my club, a cup of coffee, and 10 minutes with the provided papers’ establishment headlines and state-wide sports.
The most accurate news is on the internet and is written by people who have the time to investigate and aren’t paid to present a particular line. JQ’s TBP is an example. Several of the Administrator’s favorite websites are mine too. Chuck your MSM papers, start reading JQ’s favorites, and after a while give us you opinion about the best and the worst of Jim’s best.

Newspapers killed themselves. They can’t give them away here, and God knows they tried for years. Everyone told them to take their liberal bs and shove it. I find it interesting that these liberal bastions refused to change their stripes to survive, much like CNN and MSNBS news outlets on cable. Obviously these businesses are kept on life support by an invisible hand and most certainly not by their patrons.

Newspapers in my area have become classified ad pamphlets for auto dealers.

Haven’t bought one in years, just glance at the free ones in a coffee shop or waiting room in a dentist’s or doctor’s office.

I remember when the Sunday Paper was as thick as a brief case and reading the various sections was a family tradition everyone looked forward to Sunday morning, and the beginning of the week as well. Things sure do change.

Great stuff, Muck!

I can not remember the last time I actually bought a newspaper. Literally. I’m guessing it’s been at least 5 years.

But, my dad still buys the Star Ledger every single day …. they don’t have a computer, don’t want one, and if I bought them one it would take 6 months just to teach them how to log on.

So, when I go visit, I’ll check it out. I’m usually done in 10 minutes. Beyond the first page or two, the stories are worthless filler. The OpEd page is nothing but NJ libtard fucknut horseshit. The rest of the paper is one endless stream of advertisement. How do these fuckers stay in business?

How much does USA Today cost? Two bucks, right? Sooo, $520 dollars per year! Are you kidding me?? “In depth” coverage to them is three or four paragraphs. If USA Today created the oceans they would be 3,000 miles wide and one inch deep.

How USA Today would have covered the Exodus; —- “Egypt suffered some natural disasters recently. Some experts blame God. GDP suffers as a result and Joos leave for The Promised Land. Pharaoh’s Army drowns in the Red Sea attempting to return several tons of Matzoh left behind. The end.”

I’m 48 now and can honestly say I have NEVER read a single one of the papers mentioned. The only paper I can ever recall reading was the Stars & Stripes while living overseas. My wife had a subscription to our local paper. She used to read stories to me each week from the paper but most of the time I was already aware of what she was reading to me. I kept telling her she was reading old news and she finally cancelled the subscription.

I prefer books to the internet or electronic book readers but I prefer the internet to news papers and broadcast news.

The National Enquirer is by far the most truthful and informative of the papers listed.
