That stupid bird set himself up. Just prior to what is shown on the video this dude just wasn’t paying attention to his flying. For whatever thing that it was occupying his thoughts (what difference does it make now) he found himself slow, low and downwind. However at this point he was not totally fucked.
It was only when he decided that he just wanted to land -cuz things weren’t looking so good- that his fate was sealed.
He had a pretty good downslope there to work with had he just started flapping like a motherfucker. Right at the second before initial impact you can see him swing his hips as he JUST GIVES UP, obviously to avoid getting his dick torn off by something only he could see coming . (this is why I knew right off the bat that this was a male)
If you throw in the CGI stuff it becomes apparent that he could have been dumping fuel also.
