Is Trumpism the New Nationalism?

Since China devalued its currency 3 percent, global markets have gone into a tailspin. Why should this be?

After all, 3 percent devaluation in China could be countered by a U.S. tariff of 3 percent on all goods made in China, and the tariff revenue used to cut U.S. corporate taxes.

The crisis in world markets seems related not only to a sinking Chinese economy, but also to what Beijing is saying to the world; i.e., China will save herself first even if it means throwing others out of the life boat.

Disbelievers in New World Order mythology have long recognized that this new China is fiercely nationalistic. Indeed, with Marxism-Leninism dead, nationalism is the Communist Party’s fallback faith.

China has thus kept her currency cheap to hold down imports and keep exports surging. She has run $300 billion trade surpluses at the expense of the Americans. She has demanded technology transfers from firms investing in China and engaged in technology theft.

Disillusioned U.S. executives have been pulling out.

And the stronger China has grown economically, the more bellicose she has become with her neighbors from Japan to Vietnam to the Philippines. Lately, China has laid claim to virtually the entire South China Sea and all its islands and reefs as national territory.

In short, China is becoming a mortal threat to the rules-based global economy Americans have been erecting since the end of the Cold War, even as the U.S. system of alliances erected by Cold War and post-Cold War presidents seems to be unraveling.

Germany, the economic powerhouse of the European Union, was divided until recently on whether Greece should be thrown out of the eurozone. German nationalists have had enough of Club Med.

On issues from mass migrations from the Third World, to deeper political integration of Europe, to the EU’s paltry contributions to a U.S.-led NATO that defends the continent, nationalistic resistance is rising.

Enter the Donald. If there is a single theme behind his message, it would seem to be a call for a New Nationalism or New Patriotism.

He is going to “make America great again.” He is going to build a wall on the border that will make us proud, and Mexico will pay for it.

He will send all illegal aliens home and restore the traditional value of U.S. citizenship by putting an end to the scandal of “anchor babies.”

One never hears Trump discuss the architecture of our rules-based global economy.

Rather, he speaks of Mexico, China and Japan as tough rivals, not “trade partners,” smart antagonists who need to face tough American negotiators who will kick their butts.

They took our jobs and factories; now we are going to take them back. And if that Ford plant stays in Mexico, then Ford will have to climb a 35-percent tariff wall to get its trucks and cars back into the USA.

Trump to Ford: Bring that factory back to Michigan!

To Trump, the world is not Davos; it is the NFL. He is appalled at those mammoth container ships in West Coat ports bringing in Hondas and Toyotas. Those ships should be carrying American cars to Asia.

Asked by adviser Dick Allen for a summation of U.S. policy toward the Soviets, Ronald Reagan said: “We win; they lose.”

That it is not an unfair summation of what Trump is saying about Mexico, Japan and China.

While the economic nationalism here is transparent, Trump also seems to be saying that foreign regimes are freeloading off the U.S. defense budget and U.S. military.

He asks why rich Germans aren’t in the vanguard in the Ukraine crisis. Why do South Koreans, with an economy 40 times that of the North and a population twice as large, need U.S. troops on the DMZ?

“What’s in it for us?” he seems ever to be asking.

He has called Vladimir Putin a Russian patriot and nationalist with whom he can talk. He has not joined the Republican herd that says it will cancel the Iran nuclear deal the day they take office, re-impose U.S. sanctions and renegotiate the deal.

Trump says he would insure that Iran lives up to the terms.

While his foreign policy positions seem unformed, his natural reflex appears nonideological and almost wholly results-oriented. He looks on foreign trade much as did 19th-century Republicans.

They saw America as the emerging world power and Britain as the nation to beat, as China sees us today. Those Americans used tariffs, both to force foreigners to pay to build our country, and to keep British imports at a price disadvantage in the USA.

Then they exploited British free trade policy to ship as much as they could to the British Isles to take down their factories and capture their jobs for U.S. workers, as the Chinese do to us today.

Whatever becomes of Trump the candidate, Trumpism, i.e., economic and foreign policy nationalism, appears ascendant.

I’ve got way to much blood in my alcohol level right now, but I’m going to work on that. Trump made millions on his TV escapade why, people like Stucky watch that ignorant shit. I never ever one time, not even once, watched reality TV. Good on me!

Who do you all want for President? I want Carly

Sensett, kicking ass in broad daylight. Jim, lots of people inherit money. how many make it grow? It doesn’t grow itself. He says he got paid over 200 million dollars being a DUMBASS reality TV goofball. Wish I were that dumb. And he’s a scratch golfer. Sensetti is right on the money. Dude has a skillset.

Admin I don’t disagree with one damn thing you just said. All I’m saying is he knows how to make a deal work. Buy your own admission politicians are not working. We need something different. We don’t have a lot of options. I’m ready to try something new. What do we have to lose?

Admin I have no idea how many hours a day Donald Trump works, I have no idea how much money he’s worth, I’m simply quoting what’s out there. I’m not validating any of it. I know one thing, the motherfucker has some very nice drinking establishments, hangs out with some fine looking ladies, he’s got his own helicopter, and a big ass jet airplane. I’m thinkin Mr. Trump’s done ok with the cash his pop left him, he put it to work. I’m in no financial position to give him advice and or criticize him. Hell he might read the Burning Platform and put me to work, shit, I wish I was a hairstylist, I’d fix that damn mop on his head. But oh no, I’d have to be the one to handle all the women he culls, we each have our own burdens to bare.

Jim, being a dealmaker is kind of like being a really good investor. Lots and lots of thinking, and absorbing information. Golf courses are great places for that. Actual negotiations might take 30 minutes, but you might have six months of thought beforehand. Once something is set up, you can keep an eye on it with a pretty light touch, but someone has to put the whole thing together. The vision thing.

I can explain trump’s appeal perfectly. No one else has. He is describing a vision for america as he would like it to be. Lots of Americans would rather live in that place than what we have now. That isn’t going to change based on some gotcha oppo research. Ever single other candidate is a stay the course candidate. That makes trump unstoppable, reaganesque if you will. It’s going to be a landslide.

Star.
Admin is playing games now. When this blog started he would gut an individual. He’s excellent with the written word and would wield it like a sword. Between, Admin, Smokey, Llpoh, Stucky, Colma and AWD this platform was vicious. Llpoh gutted me one time for jumping on Ragman, uncalled for on my part, AWD came to my rescue and told LLPOH “leave the boy alone he’s just sharpening his teeth” No shit I would log out when Smokey logged on. Those Bastards learned me, we called them Big Dogs back in the day, they were brutal and if you ever got all of them coming at you OMG they would feed off each other unmercifully.
So no Sensetti doesn’t kick ass I just try to do my part to uphold the tradition of the Burning Platform and those great minds that were here in the beginning and are no more.
I love this Blog and thank Admin and his lovely wife for all their hard work.

When the fuck are we going to stop talking about having a “choice” for the presidency? There are no choices, there have been no choices and there will be no choices. There is no right, there is no left…. it’s one party. The ideological arguments are meant to be subterfuge for the masses to keep them rallying around this flag… that flag… and this issue and that issue. The truth of our cage is that we live in a system that is on the verge of a big reset and they are trying to keep the game going so the good times keep rolling for them and the rest of us be damned.

I look at the list above and see crackpots, frauds, elitists, and dictators in the making. I try to look to see who will do the least damage and I am stuck. At this point, I’d rather have the government fighting itself so that whatever faux rights I still have gives me more time to enjoy my life. This experiment is on a road that has not “U” turn and it will end badly. We don’t know the timing or the severity…. There are moments, not often mind you, that I just wish we could be on the other side of this mess…. but then again… the other side of this mess is most likely a socialistic dictatorship… oh, way a minute, we already have that in Our Dear Leader.

Do you mean ‘dissent’?

I haven’t been for Trump since I summarized his platform as protectionist hot air. Trump is a vindictive person, he can’t get over his treatment by Megyn Kelly and today he paid Univision back by expulsing Jorge Ramos from his press conference.

I’m sure Stuck will be pleased to learn that anchor babies are not American citizens. Not that Stuck is an anchor baby, but I wonder how amenable he is to hearing some asshole judge whether Stuck is an American when his parents were born abroad.

Xenophobia is the root of nationalism, and a police state parades in the guise of patriotism. Bea and Starsuck failed TBP 101: a government that fears its citizens is a good government, a country that fears its government is a country in chains.

Trump gives me the impression that he’s winging it like Herbert Armstrong, folks believed he was anointed but all he was doing was sermonizing according to what he read in the papers.

Listen to Trump and you’ll notice he hasn’t said anything we haven’t heard here on TBP many times before. He’s probably cribbing from some of the comments here.

Once the Repukes come to their senses and see Trump for the fake reality teevee candidate he is, they will run to Bush like a repentant wayward spouse. We all will because the other choice will be The Dude (a)Biden.

Fur Balls, No dice. I gave you an update but to recap, we are in the shadow of the foothills, beyond that is a mountain range 23 miles across before we get to Mt Wilson.
I got a couple of cool antennas but they are no better than a simple dipole.

Damn, too bad you missed my update, I was almost poetic describing how I’d taken to looking around at the infrequent aerial antennas around the valley. Lots of small Dish antennas, I don’t care for those, but the Yagis are very interesting, I almost want to drive around and take pictures.

I got ABC, Fox and Azteca TV out of Bakersfield in addition to a couple of sidechannels, ME TV and another old movie channel. The sexy mulatta wants Univision and that comes from LA at a weak 390 MW or maybe it’s KW, whatever, it’s weak.

I don’t think the USA will become a Third World country. I think the entire planet will become a Second World country, so the TW people will actually see their standard of living improve. There will be a tiny little oligarchy of people who really have it made, and everyone else will live in Second World conditions. The population will be ten billion humans and the environment will be absolute shit.

If there was something I could to change that, I would. But people are all going to do what they are going to do – mostly breed more people to populate those Second World ranks – and to the last man they will all think the shithole they live in is someone else’s fault.

You might advocate protectionism or disallow “American” corporations to hire “foreigners,” except that there really aren’t “American” corporations anymore. There are just corporations, owned by a small cadre of rich people from all over the world. They don’t give a rat’s ass about whether there is a middle class in America or anywhere else. They only care about staying at the top of the pyramid and they will hire the hungriest most desperate people from anywhere because they will work for the cheapest wages.

People aren’t going to get a decent hourly rate for their labor until the demand for human labor starts to exceed supply – which is NOT going to happen. The demand was already going down because of automation before the crash of 2008, but the supply just keeps going up and up and up. Don’t have kids.

Pirate Jo,

Sorry I don’t have time to go into detail, but my limited researches into UN Agenda 21 and similar globalist elite programs is that they seriously intend to drastically reduce the global population over the next century, to one billion or under. Using birth control (voluntary or compulsory) if possible, more authoritarian methods if “necessary”. When powerful people say they want you and your descendants dead, believe them. I don’t envision the elite to be significantly more numerous than now (approx. 10,000?), they’ll just keep all the green / pristine places on the planet for themselves and their important servants – maybe a million altogether.

BEA LEVER
BEA LEVER

Agenda 21 was introduced in theory in the 70’s and brought in to being in the 90’s. There are almost 7 billion people on the planet now, they plan to reduce that number down by 2 billion . The goal is to bring the number down to 500,000 to 1 billion. That means most of us will be gone. See the Georgia Guide Stones.

Humans will be limited to small areas with the rest of the landmass off limits. The elite no longer need millions of workers and they have no love lost for the useless eaters of the world. I’ll save the rest for AP.

Stucky says: Don’t give a shit, and it doesn’t apply. We became American citizens THE LEGAL WAY.

And babies became American citizens THE LEGAL WAY too, just by being born here. Funny how that works. Once folks start deciding who is a citizen by their own rules, then they will start deciding who lives and who gets aborted.

Before Iska gets the idea that I’m for open borders, I’m not. I’m well aware that Chinlee women are coming over here to give birth. our local hospital has a program to accommodate this trend. It’s just that as long as it is legal, it’s legal and until then, we shall have to deal with it by legal means like prevention.
