QUOTES OF THE DAY

“The poverty of our century is unlike that of any other. It is not, as poverty was before, the result of natural scarcity, but of a set of priorities imposed upon the rest of the world by the rich. Consequently, the modern poor are not pitied, but written off as trash. The twentieth-century consumer economy has produced the first culture for which a beggar is a reminder of nothing.”

John Berger

“America’s great now — it’s never been greater. Our kids are going to live so much better than we do now.”

Warren Buffett

It should be pointed out that western civilization has also produced the only time in all history when the average beggar is also fat.

Greetings,

That is true that the beggar is fat. After all, if people were seen starving to death in the streets then people would demand that something be done even if that something was the “removal” of the beggars so that they could go die somewhere out of sight and out of mind.
