Depends on the need and the nobility of the request, but yes, basically it is begging in most cases.

Sometimes it is. But even when it is, you usually know what you’re getting into. Even in cases like the mother of Tyshawn Lee, you sort of have to assume that at least part of the money is going to go towards something other than just funeral expenses, if you’re being honest. I think overall it is a very fair system of charity. It is much better than a bunch of people standing around on street corners with cups in their hand.

I used to walk door to door with an old blade lawnmower asking to cut lawns for 2$ a pop when I was 9 yrs old up thru my early teens. Had a paper route at 13. Picked up every god dam coke bottle I came across. I cant remember the last time I have seen a kid pushing or riding a fukn mower. Wake me up when its time to start shooting people.

It depends. The beggar ONLY RECEIVES … he gives NOTHING in return.

If that’s how gofundme works (I really have no idea), then it is begging. However, if the gofundme person offers something in return — for example, a share of the profits, etc. — then it is not begging.

At least the money is going directly to the people you want to help.

Peace out , would you send me a couple thousand dollars. Just found out I need two new drive tires for my Commercial Truck. You can send your donation thru admin mailing address.(Cash only )Thanks.

Yes, it is cyber begging, these folks are no better than the kids that stand around begging for $$ for their band program (or whatever) instead of organizing a car wash or some other fund raiser WHERE THEY MIGHT ACTUALLY HAVE TO WORK AND GET THEIR HANDS DIRTY.

We have raised a nation of children, now adults, whose sense of arrogant entitlement is only exceeded by their incompetence and ignorance.

See: Yale and Univ of MIss

And we are supposed to depend on them to keep funding SS, Medicare, etc, in the future?????

We. Are. Doomed.

Fuck it! Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I’ve thought about setting up a dozen of these accounts for various made up, outrageously ludicrous reasons just to see what happens.

Admin should start one to fund his “Shit Throwing Monkey Project”. Word it just like that and see what happens.

Moron sheople in this country pay money for plastic dog shit and pet rocks.

The case you cite about “games” certainly is begging/whining. But some of the gofundme appeals provide a way for people who’ve been through illness/accident or just plain hard times to make their situation known and accept money from those who can and are willing to help. It’s quicker/easier than writing a check and mailing it.

That’s the other thing, these donations are not deductible.
