Yeah! THAT’s what I’m talkin’ about! When admin posted this tune months ago and with his excellent essay similar to the “lie” one from today… I got to say… it blew me away.
In any case, I’ve been havin’ a little to much fun this evening – so – I’m a probably going to regret this tomorrow. Oh well. But everyday, I watch Admin, HSF, Stucky and everyone on TBP lay it on the line here – so – I will too. After all, it is the weekend. I also thought of this one when I read HSF’s “Skating Away” post.
SO – Here is another one I wrote years ago regarding “time”. I was a little depressed when I wrote this one. Again…, I am NOT a poet. I just like to put words to paper sometimes. In any case, here it is:
TIME
As children
We would go
Soldiers and Indians
On dusky plains
With buffalo
Upon the emerald hills
Near the river, would we play
Summer winds caressing us
And blazing sunsets to end the day
How winter’s wonder touched us
With fluffy flakes of snow
Skating on ice in the moonlight
Christmas music on the radio
Now time has left its mark on us
In silent, subtle change
When did our days get so boring,
And our nights become so strange?
For time turns days to sorrow
Yielding heartache as we grow
And moments serve as razor cuts
Scarring us painfully slow
When joyous moments do unfold
In times of sadness
They’re precious to behold
Yet depression’s darkness settles deep
And in dreadful dungeons
Do denizens creep
Guilt and fear
Provide us distraction
That burden our decisions
And tempers our action
Now worthless secrets we’ll forever keep
As days go by and we’re lulled to sleep
In useless years our spirits are spent
‘Til alone in anguish, backs broken, or bent,
We are released from this torment
