You and I agree on many issues including the big picture on illegal drugs. You even love dogs, as do I. People who love dogs are generally pretty cool.

The best Mini’s are the post 586- series, because they have a slightly larger diameter barrel that is also tapered, instead of the skinny straight-wall barrel of everything before. But the gun isn’t made for accuracy anyway, and the best of the best Mini’s shoot as accurately as 60th percentile AR15s.
You might also note that the M14/M1A on which the Mini is very loosely based is accurate only when numerous tricks are done to it, and has a rapidly declining share of serious service rifle competition, with the AR platform taking over completely.
The SR-556 that bb mentioned is expensive, but Ruger more recently introduced a conventional (DI) AR-556 that costs the same or less vs. a Mini-14, and is made well enough that I would be happy to own one (although I don’t). The Mini-14 continues to exist for fewer and fewer potential buyers, mostly those who live in areas that legally restrict the AR15 but not the Mini.
Accuracy is only one benefit of an AR15. Other MAJOR benefits include ease of maintenance and repair, availability of parts – ALL parts, customizing options, magazine options, modularity, the ease of solid scope mounting on the flattops (A3 or A4 upper) that now dominate the AR market, etc. I’ve owned literally all major types of semiauto rifles, and the only type I shoot regularly any more is the AR.

For all the know it all illegal drug advocates that speculate that I am ignorant: I was a Biology teacher and briefly a medical student who studied a dozen illegal drugs short and long term effects on the body. I want to encourage all of you insulting dopers to use all the drugs your heart desires; you might as well because your brains are malfunctioning already.
