A Naive Assessment Of American Politics Written By An Entitled Youth From A Layabout Generation

 By: Stephanie Shepard

This has been the most turbulent election years in my life. I’m sure my elders would scoff at the assertion “in my life” and point out I am still too young to know better, but they’d be mistaken. We are right on course for this election to be a do-or-die moment for American politics no different than when Abraham Lincoln or Franklin D. Roosevelt were candidates.

At the same time this has also been one of the most boring and predictable elections. Newscasters have turned the election into a reality T.V. freak show which is the most suitable pandering for their ratings-for-profits advertising model. The more controversial the candidate the less work they have to do to find their headlines and collect their advertising revenue.

They’ve become lazy because paying real journalists to find the truth and not being the first to report about where a candidate stopped to eat lunch before Buzzfeed or Huffington Post is too difficult. Meanwhile the people of this country suffer the consequences of lackluster journalism while the media is raking in big profits for little work.

This Is the Only Way to Buy Gold Without the Government Tracking You

This Is the Only Way to Buy Gold Without the Government Tracking You

By Justin Spittler

Editor’s Note: Today’s issue is a little different than usual…

In place of our regular daily market commentary, we’re going to warn you about an extremely dangerous trend in government surveillance.

E.B. Tucker, editor of The Casey Report, has found a unique way to protect yourself…but the window of opportunity is closing fast.

Casey Daily Dispatch will return to its regular format tomorrow.

If you’re buying gold right now…the government could be tracking you.

If you’re buying gold, you’re likely not doing it to make money. You’re buying it to make sure you don’t wake up poor one day.

Gold has been used as money for thousands of years because it is easily divisible, easily transportable, has intrinsic value, is durable, and has consistent form around the world. And, as Doug Casey reminds us, it’s a good form of money because governments can’t print it on a whim. You can’t “Bernanke your way” to wealth with gold.

When today’s dramatic central banking experiment blows up, gold will hold its value…unlike paper currencies such as the dollar.

That’s exactly why the government will try to take it from you.

The last time the government confiscated gold was during the Great Depression. In 1933, President Roosevelt outlawed owning most forms of gold. He claimed that people “hoarding” gold were making the Great Depression worse. The penalty for not turning your gold in to the government was a $10,000 fine and 10 years in jail.

Of course, Roosevelt gave his closest supporters notice before issuing the ban. They had time to move their gold to another country. Most folks weren’t that lucky.

This time around, the confiscation will be digital.

QUOTES OF THE DAY

“A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain.”

Mark Twain

“Suckers think that you cure greed with money, addiction with substances, expert problems with experts, banking with bankers, economics with economists, and debt crises with debt spending”

Nassim Nicholas Taleb, The Bed of Procrustes: Philosophical and Practical Aphorisms

“How long will it be necessary to pay City men so entirely out of proportion to what other servants of society commonly receive for performing social services not less useful or difficult?”

John Maynard Keynes

“Central Bankers are driving us to Hell in a vehicle We are paying the installments on”

Dean Cavanagh

“And the banks – hard to believe in a time when we’re facing a banking crisis that many of the banks created – are still the most powerful lobby on Capitol Hill. And they frankly own the place.”

Richard Joseph Durbin

“3 people get stranded on a remote Island

A Banker, a Daily Mail reader & an Asylum seeker

All they have to eat is a box of 10 Mars bars

The Banker says “Because of my expertise in asset management, I”ll look after our resources”

The other 2 agree

So the Banker opens the box, gobbles down 9 of the Mars bars and hands the last one to the Daily Mail reader

He then says ” I’d keep an eye on that Asylum seeker, he’s after your Mars Bar”

Murder Is Washington’s Foreign Policy

Guest Post by Paul Craig Roberts

Washington has a long history of massacring people, for example, the destruction of the Plains Indians by the Union war criminals Sherman and Sheridan and the atomic bombs dropped on Japanese civilian populations, but Washington has progressed from periodic massacres to fulltime massacring. From the Clinton regime forward, massacre of civilians has become a defining characteristic of the United States of America.

Washington is responsible for the destruction of Yugoslavia and Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, and part of Syria. Washington has enabled Saudi Arabia’s attack on Yemen, Ukraine’s attack on its former Russian provinces, and Israel’s destruction of Palestine and the Palestinian people.

The American state’s murderous rampage through the Middle East and North Africa was enabled by the Europeans who provided diplomatic and military cover for Washington’s crimes. Today the Europeans are suffering the consequences as they are over-run by millions of refugees from Washington’s wars. The German women who are raped by the refugees can blame their chancellor, a Washington puppet, for enabling the carnage from which refugees flee to Europe.

I-HOP Customers Are Outraged at What Their Server Called Them and Thus Another Viral Receipt Is Born

Arainia Brown and her boyfriend Rolman Sparkman just wanted to get take-out from the delicious breakfast (and sometimes other meals) food chains I-HOP. They ended up coming away with a tasty dinner and an offensive receipt. The server apparently typed in “BLACK PPL” to describe them and both Brown and Sparkman feel like he could have used a better term to identify the patrons. Rather than cause a stir and bring up the issue to a manager, Brown posted the receipt online which caused it to go viral.

PROTECTED vs UNPROTECTED

Submitted by John Rubino via DollarCollapse.com,

Peggy Noonan, former Reagan administration speech writer and current Wall Street Journal pundit has, like most of her peers, been wondering what’s gotten into the unwashed masses lately that makes them such unpredictable voters. And she’s come up with a useful conclusion: The rise of Donald Trump (and similar iconoclasts in other countries) is due to the gradual division of society into the protected — that is, people who make the rules and therefore benefit from them — and the unprotected, who don’t make the rules and end up getting screwed. The latter have finally figured this out and have stopped supporting the former. Here’s her latest OpEd piece, in its entirety:

Trump and the Rise of the Unprotected: Why political professionals are struggling to make sense of the world they created.

We’re in a funny moment. Those who do politics for a living, some of them quite brilliant, are struggling to comprehend the central fact of the Republican primary race, while regular people have already absorbed what has happened and is happening. Journalists and politicos have been sharing schemes for how Marco parlays a victory out of winning nowhere, or Ted roars back, or Kasich has to finish second in Ohio. But in my experience any nonpolitical person on the street, when asked who will win, not only knows but gets a look as if you’re teasing him. Trump, they say.

I had such a conversation again Tuesday with a friend who repairs shoes in a shop on Lexington Avenue. Jimmy asked me, conversationally, what was going to happen. I deflected and asked who he thinks is going to win. “Troomp!” He’s a very nice man, an elderly, old-school Italian-American, but I saw impatience flick across his face: Aren’t you supposed to know these things?

In America now only normal people are capable of seeing the obvious.

But actually that’s been true for a while, and is how we got in the position we’re in.

German Banks Told To Start Hoarding Cash

Submitted by Simon Black via SovereignMan.com,

Just stunning.

German newspaper Der Spiegel reported yesterday that the Bavarian Banking Association has recommended that its member banks start stockpiling PHYSICAL CASH.

Europe, of course, has been battling with negative interest rates for quite some time.

What this means is that commercial banks are being charged interest for holding wholesale deposits at the European Central Bank.

In order to generate artificial economic growth, the ECB wants banks to make as many loans as possible, no matter how stupid or idiotic.

They believe that economic growth is simply a function of loans. The more money that’s loaned out, the more the economy will grow.

This is the sort of theory that works really well in an economic textbook. But it doesn’t work so well in a history textbook.

Cheap money encourages risky behavior. It gives banks an incentive to give ‘no money down’ loans to homeless people with no employment history.

It creates bubbles (like the housing bubble from 10 years ago), and ultimately, financial panics (like the banking crisis from 8 years ago).

Banks are supposed to be conservative, responsible managers of other people’s money.

When central bank policies penalize that practice, bad things tend to happen.

Los Angeles police test knife found on property owned by O.J. Simpson

Police in Los Angeles are testing a knife recovered on a property once owned by O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted in the murder of his former wife and her friend, the Los Angeles Police Department said on Friday.

The department is investigating the Buck knife with a retractable blade, which was apparently turned over to a police officer a number of years ago by a construction worker at the property, the Los Angeles Times newspaper reported, citing an unnamed law enforcement source.

The knife was found on the grounds of the house where Simpson lived at the time of the murders. The house, in the posh Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, has since been razed.

Los Angeles Police spokeswoman Norma Eisenman said the agency’s Robbery Homicide Division was investigating. She declined to provide further details.

Simpson, a retired pro football Hall of Fame running back for the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills, was acquitted in 1995 of murdering his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in Los Angeles. Simpson later lost a wrongful death lawsuit brought by the victims’ families.

Simpson’s ex-wife and Goldman were stabbed multiple times in the neck and head but the murder weapon was never found at the time of the nine-month long trial that ended in 1995 with his acquittal.

Simpson cannot be prosecuted again for the two murders because that would constitute double jeopardy.

Simpson is now in prison on a 2008 armed robbery conviction related to the robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers at a Las Vegas hotel.

While the knife was turned over a number of years ago to police, detectives are now investigating its history and checking it for hair and fingerprints, TMZ, the celebrity gossip website, reported.

An Establishment in Panic

Guest Post by Patrick J. Buchanan

An Establishment in Panic

Donald Trump “appeals to racism.”

“[F]rom the beginning … his campaign has profited from voter prejudice and hatred” and represents an “authoritarian assault upon democracy.”

If Speaker Paul Ryan wishes to be “on the right side of history … he must condemn Mr. Trump clearly and comprehensively. The same goes for every other Republican leader.”

“Maybe that would split the (Republican) party,” but, “No job is worth the moral stain that would come from embracing (Trump). No party is worth saving at the expense of the country.”
If Republican leaders wish to be regarded as moral, every one of them must renounce Trump, even if it means destroying their party.

Who has laid down this moral mandate? The Holy Father in Rome?

No. The voice posturing as the conscience of America is the Washington Post, which champions abortion on demand and has not, in the memory of this writer, endorsed any Republican for president – though it did endorse Marion Barry three times for mayor of D.C.

Anticipating the Post’s orders, Sen. Marco Rubio has been painting Trump as a “scam artist” and “con artist,” with an “orange” complexion, a “spray tan” and “tiny hands,” who is “unfit to lead the party of Lincoln and Reagan.”
